ok done a shitload of work on speeding this place up today and as of posting this it seems to be faster on first results... fingers crossed it lasts :-\
but ive changed tons of stuff in the database and on the server so really need to monitor it for the next few day as its all trial and error sooooo if you guys find any bugs let me know.

Maybe it's the old placebo effect, now i've been told it should be faster, that it seems that it is running faster... But my computer is usually pretty slow with this site and that HAD been noticable for a while... but lately i havn't really noticed... So could be because of the changes..
Anyways this is by far the best forum of it's type with the best people on it so even if it is slowed down, i'm sure everyone will still be here just as much....
But glad to know someone is doing their best to keep the site as visitable as possible.. O0
Well I have dial up but it usually loads just as fast as my DSL did because of the caches/cookies but I'm pretty sure those clear periodically because I also had to re-login yesterday which I haven't had to do in months.Quote:

i was thinking of switching to a vb board but there is no saying that, that wouldn't have the same trouble... but thus far it seems to be running better just need a wacko round by round to really put it through its paces ;) ;D ;)

funny you mentioning the cache as that is one of the things i used to speed the place up... the server didnt have an acelarator inststalled so i added one to the php yesterday not my strongest subject messing with the server vis SSH but got it installed and seems to be working a treat also changed some of the database table formats to cope better.
seems to have solved the problem.

I have been in a couple of forums this last 2 week trying other waters in other sports and by far this is the most complete of all. Maybe change a layout or color would be fun but I think that might take some time.
The forum is like greased lightning now, good job man! 8)
