There was no such line in Holmes dressing room
Hard to get more underated then that
Thats because Holmes didnt do drugs ::** ;D
_______
Anyone who stops Machen inside the 1st then knocks out a young Patterson has to be given some credit... Johanasson might of done well with his carrer had he trained properly for the rematch.
Also, Ernie Terrell seems to stand out a lot... He beat good fighters in their primes.
Fighters like Williams, Foley, Machen, Foster and Chuvalo...
Really only got badly beat by a pissed off, prime Ali in 'that' fight.
Ironic really that Ali was asking his own name ::**
You would have thought he'd have learned by what happened to Patterson who had that exactly same clever idea of calling him Cassius in the lead up to their fightQuote:

Even when Holmes was champion, defending his title successfully more than any heavyweight, the public never fell in love with him. When he fought Gerry Cooney in 1982, he was an underdog. In the ring, he was introduced second. President Ronald Reagan had a phone line installed in Cooney's dressing room, but not in the champion's. And the fight became a battle between black and white, an unfair turn to both fighters.Quote:

Lennox Lewis definiately aint underated....hes overated if anything by alot of people.
Larry Holmes is mine... I have a very High opinion of Mr. Holmes. I have him as my #2 HW of all time, behind Ali (and yes, ahead of guys like Louis, Marciano, ect).
Ray Mercer was underrated imo
Are you kidding me? He would have beaten any other heavyweight except maybe Ike and prime Tyson more times than not.Quote:

id like to add both:
the President(IKE)
and
the Terminator(TUA)
to that list
but if its an all time list man theres hella lot more going all the way back yo ::**
Are you kidding me thats bit of bold statement especially when your talking about same Lewis who got gift decision agaisnt Ray Mercer when 40+ Larry Holmes out boxed Mercer easily so did Jesse Ferguson and Lewis got out jabbed by Frank Bruno of all people and was sparked out twice by mediocre Rahman and Oliver and i don't know why you say only Prime Tyson and Ike would only have chance firstly Tyson wernt best against tall boxers and what did Ike ever do for you to rate him that high ?? all he ever did was get gift decision against Tua and knock out Byrd who was out boxing him up until stoppage i think prime Holmes Prime Witherspoon Prime Bowe Prime Ali would have better chance.Quote:

He just wasnt very exciting,he was allways methodical. The Klitschko's arent huge stars for the same reason. It doesnt help that he was shown the floor, and the door by smaller fighters,McCall, and Rahman
A large percentage of his fights after winning his first title were fought in the states,so we got to see him plenty. He just wasnt a very exciting fighter, the main problem with the division is there is no lights out boxer in it to inflame the imagination.Hell Klitschko was winning against him when the fight was called because of the cut.
Lewis slugged it out with Vitali and came out on top . The Klit couldnt continue . Regardless what the cards said , Lewsi won the 6th and was incharge at the time of the stoppageQuote:

I voted with Holmes due to the fact that he took over after the Ali era was officially over and people practically dismissed him...He was a great Champion...Funny thing about Holmes is he became more appreciated after he retired..
Michael Moore was a close second...IMO many people just did not take him seriously as a HW champion
i had to give the nod to holmes, it must have been frustrating following in ali's wake
.....i give second place to liston, the man was past his best by the time he got his title shot
as for moorer ,i never rated him very highy due to his glass chin......if tyson was around at the time moorer would be nothing
holmes is great--one thing is he succeded ali---and another thing is he tried 2 act like ali--running his mouth--but he never lost-(during prime) and u cant take that away from him--he also says he the greatest 2 ever lace up the gloves----hell no--anywhere from a 1964-1975 ali --woulda whuped holmes and make holmes look like a cheap imitation
i'd have to say Holmes. i never seen a champ who held the title for more than 7 years and 20 title defenses so disrespected. as for Lennox Lewis, extremely over-rated. his 2 biggest victories of his career came against 2 fighters way out of their prime: Tyson and Holyfield.
I have to go with Holmes. He was underrated mostly because he had to follow Ali as champ and then defend against the aging legend as happened to Ezzard Charles following Joe Louis and then defend and beat him.
Holmes without a doubt.
i am not mad but i think Lennox would have beaten any other heavy best of 3 fights
my opinion only i guess :)
Don't think so to be honest Lewis was good but he wasn't a great in terms of skill imo.Quote:

You know Holmes is my fav so i gotta stick up for him here hws back then wasn't greatest but still had some good hws who were in shape and talented id like to name someQuote:

All good opponents and if Holmes was in 70s he would of beat Frazier and Foreman would of had hard time with both but still would of won Jimmy Young would of give him hell tough one to call and Holmes vs Ali match would be close call to close imo and in 90s Holmes would of beat em all ;)
Michael Spinks is the most underrated heavy weight of all time
....that's gay
Ibeabuchi is overrated if anything
Sam Langford is the most underrated
Yes i can tell by your name ;)Quote:

I can't believe people think Bowe is underrated - a great champ is more than skills and wins in the ring, its balls, taking fights, fighting the best out there even if you losse - after he ducked lewis he was and always will be an overrated coward in my eyes, it is a shame because he was a very skilled boxer.
Totally Disagree.. Holmes had a real good shot of beating Ali in both there primes, anyone to say otherwise just hasnt studied the 2 closely.. Holmes had it all speed, power, chin, heart and the best damn Jab that divison had ever seen... that fight to me is a total pickem and one of the potentially best matchups that could ever be madeQuote:
