Most Respectable Active Fighters
First, i want to say i respect anyone who fights in the ring with the exception of James Butler and maybe a couple others, but some guys I have a ton of respect for because of their heart, conduct, etc. For me Diego Corrales, Winky Wright, Hatton, and Barrera come to mind.

That's unfair Mick.
Zab gets a raw deal. Jay Nady was wrong and deserved that stool thrown at him for the good of the sport.
The punch to Floyd's nuts was an accident, and so was the one to the back of the head.
And the brawl was all Roger's fault, Zab was just trying to keep the peace when he was throwing those wild haymakers.

Another guy who IMO is over looked and deserves respect is Luis Ramon Campas aka. Yory Boy...

Re: Most Respectable Active Fighters
Bernard Hopkins - People may say he is boring (which I don't understand because every time you watch him fight is equivilent to a 30 minute boxing lesson), but you can't deny his unique discipline and his warrior spirit. I didn't much care for his attitude after the Taylor losses, but I understand that when you've been on top for as long as B-Hop, losing a close decision has to be a huge blow to your ego. Either way I respect the hell out of him for what he has done and continues to do in the ring. He's never ducked anyone (as far as I know), he's never undertrained and taken someone lightly, he comes to fight every time he gets in the ring.
Floyd Mayweather Jr - I respect the hell out of him for his in-ring work, and I also have a lot of sympathy for him because I feel that he isn't getting the respect and credit he deserves. He absolutely dominated Baldomir with his masterful skills and everyone jumped on his back saying he was "boring" (and to those people I say maybe you should watch the UFC/MMA instead). He comes off as brash and arrogant, but thats a quality I really like in fighters.

Re: Most Respectable Active Fighters
Funny thing is everyone on this site goes on about how good Calzaghe is but none of you have made him your most respectable active fighter even when he's made 20 defences thats how good he really is then

Barerra
Klitschko
JMM

I would say De La Hoya but his last 3 opponents have been big time smack talkers, which makes him look like the good guy all of the time.

Re: Most Respectable Active Fighters
My list has nothing to do with talent. I like boxers based on talent. I RESPECT boxers based on character, willingness to take the big fight, and being an ambassador for the sport. That said... and in no particular order.
1)B-Hop. Never ducked anyone. Was a thug earlier in life, but that man lives right.
2)Oscar. Say what you will, but the guy has always taken the big fights, and the guy has basically put the sport on his back in this era of weak HW's.
3)Holyfield. Doesn't know the meaning of fear. Dedication beyond belief. Great guy in his community. Would leave his intestines in the ring to give the fans thier money's worth. We'll see how this whole steroid thing shakes out.
4)Margarito. Always wants the big fights. Always fights hard. Reps Tijuana to the bone.
5)Peter Manfredo Jr. Not the best fighter out there, but a great face for boxing, figuratively of course. A great community guy and family man. A hero in Providence, a community that needs one. Most popular fighter on a show that brought a lot of new fans to boxing.
6)Arturo Gatti. Nuff said.
Whining punks list...
1)PBF
2)Judah
3)Tarver, but I still like the guy
4)RJJ
5)Junior Witter
6)Lovemore
7)Carl Froch

All the mentioned ones especially Morales but not mentioned much:Margarito. Almost always exciting and fights under rated badasses=Clottey as a tune up and almost always enters fights as an underdog. In shape allllll year around,he trains non stop. And he's very very respectful to his opponents. A real old school, throwback fighter! ANd he has a thick moustache!
