Never know about Jones. He's interested now, but you have to wait til the ink is dry with him.
He sounds really keen
im not getting my hopes up
calzaghe say he want to fight b-hop & j.taylor
but like every body in the world (well true boxing fans) we wan to see hm fight
KESSLER duh
For sure Kessler is the opponent we all want for Joe but thats not happening right now. I much prefer the sound of this to Taylor though, I hope this comes together.Quote:

I'd rather watch Jones v Calzaghe than Taylor or Kessler v Calzaghe :-\
For me this is about what's left in the RJJ tank, and unless there's more than there was in his bout with Prince Badi Ajamu, I'd have to pick Calzaghe by a wide margin. Fair play to RJJ, he can talk like he's scared the words will burn him if they don't get out of his mouth, and if only he'd do more than that over past months we'd see him in action a little more often.
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAQuote:

"I could see that there was a beautiful atmosphere at [Cardiff's] Millennium Stadium for the Manfredo fight, that's the sort of support needed to make a great fighter like Joe.
"I wasn't happy that the supporters booed the US national anthem, but I'm not the president so I don't know what that was about.
"I would love to go there and face 35,000 screaming Welshmen, I'm an entertainer and that's what I do.
"The promoters might get in the way of the fight, but there's no reason we can't come to an agreement.
"If we can't agree terms, I say give 60% to the winner and 40% to the loser. That's fair, so let's go."
Sounds like somebody's been eating a few slices of humble pie lately...or either blownin bull fershizzle out of his mouth again.
Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren tried to arrange a showdown between the long-reigning WBO super middleweight champion and Jones for last summer, but the deal fell apart over money disputes.
If past history is binding for Jones...he was the cause of it this time...not Warren.
Roy needs to step off the top rung of the ladder because let's all face it...he don't stay there any more.
This would be a great fight so get it done and dusted Promoters ;)
This would be a dissapointment imo. Kessler-JC has to be made and if JC has a free match up with not a lot of choice i really do think his best match up will be against Carl Froch. He is the number 3 at 168, he's british and it would be a tough fight for him. He can silence CF if he takes the fight and it would be a Big British showdown which will surely get a lot of support. With a fight with Roy jones i can just see a JC win and to be honest is that good for Roy's future legacy? I dont think so, he needs to brush up the 168 weight class why bother with a fighter who is past his best? Carl Froch is the danger man and to be honest it would be a good fight!
Jones is the bigger, stronger, faster guy if this fight is at Lightheavy.. Joe hasnt been at lightheavy... Joe dosent have the power to Ko Jones and Jones at 38 is still more elusive than any other previous Calzaghe opponents... Calzaghe will not get away with slap flurrying Jones, Jones has more than enough power to bust Joe up... Jones wins this by wide UD
Call me crazy but i think calzaghe should get 60 and jones 40 in this fight coz joe can bring in 35k and get on HBO with manfredo, jones brings in very little and will only be on HBO again because of the guy and not him self....
but if the money thign does break down, 60/40 winner split seems ok...
Joe v Roy80,000 would turn up thats for sure.
That's a large number...but I do see where your'e coming from...no matter what state Roy was in...he looked good against Prince Badajami ;D & with his mouth running non-stop...the fight would sell mega bucks across the pond...& I'd love to see Roy cross over for the match up.Quote:

Calzaghe (hands all blessed) would beat this incarnation of Jones Jr clearly IMO....
Preme is right. Jones Jr needs to realise he cannot command the paydays and prime slots that he once did. He hasnt beaten a top fighter in a long long time now!! Jones Jr is still of course a huge name, but a name that has been somewhat on a slippery slopeQuote:

Yes Calzaghe fought in a venue with 35,000 fans but 34,999 came to watch Amir Kahn the other was Frank Warren who has to like Calslappy
He said call him crazy so i did it was a jokeQuote:

Roy could win but he's gotten into the habit of just laying on the ropes and covering up, especially if you pressure him like Johnson did. I could see Roy spending lots of time on the ropes, covering up with Calzaghe doing those fast slap flurries, even if he isn't landing that much he'll probably just outwork Jones. But who knows, maybe Roy can turn it around but he'd have to stay off the ropes.
That is a fair point then. My apologies.Quote:

Even at this stage of his career i think Jones has to much for Calzaghe
Too much of what..?
Joe would box his head off ;)
I don't agree i think if they fought Jones would win even at this stage Jones is 10x better than Jeff Lacy
Your reason for RJ winning?
JC is faster, fitter, has way less ring rust and a better chin imo.
At the very least it would be a great event if this fight happened over here...But it's never gonna happen.
At this point in his career Jones KNOWS the most likely scenario ends with him in the middle of the ring unconcious.
If you think that 34,999 came to watch Amir Khan then you must be deluded at best, and at worst....at worst I want some of those mind altering drugs you're on. Have a quick look at the number of people who are on the forum talking about Calzaghe, and then have a look how many are talking about Khan, and you'll see the difference in the size of their support bands. And then there's Enzo, I know a good few hundred made the trip down to see him fighting. And I know two who were at the bar for the whole of his fight!!! : :laugh:Quote:

I know...they were sitting next to me, and they had come down from Swansea just to see their boy fight. Anyhow, when they came back from the bar they asked if they'd missed anything and they didn't believe us when we said that Enzo had arrived, KOd Gunn and left. They were absolutely gutted.Quote:

Jones would get hurt. And JC would get no credit for taking this fight although if all he is after is $$$,then by all means this is the fight he should take.
Jones is shot and will struggle to get down to 168. calzaghe will stop him in the 1st roundQuote:

Jones chin is gone he struggles to meke 175. he has no chance to be strong at 168.Quote:
