Most Painfully Boring Title fights
I was brosing through current boxers and their records and I came across a particular fight that I had tried to forget I ever watched and I'm still trying to make up for that hour I lost watching it some time ago. This fight was Chris Byrd vs. DaVarryl Williamson. Anyone who had the displeasure of watching that fight knows what I mean, but I got to thinking of other awful fights. Hasim Rahman vs. Monte Barrett is up there as well as Audley Harrison vs. Danny Williams. Any John Ruiz fight except vs. Tua and the Toney fight wasn't bad. I know that Ive only mentioned heavyweight fights but i cant think of any fights at lighter weights off the top of my head.

Re: Most Painfully Boring Title fights
I take it you missed out on the slugfest between Briggs & Lyakhovich.
Thats was painful. :(

Yep, this fight is the most boring fight I've ever seen, and whichever one is #2 isn't even close.
These guys literally stared at each other for the entire first 11 rounds.
Holyfield-Ruiz III is like the Thrilla in Manila compared to Briggs-Liakhovich.

Re: Most Painfully Boring Title fights
This fight was Chris Byrd vs. DaVarryl Williamson. Boom Boom
Damn right.  This was the worst thing I've ever sat through.
Rahman Vs. Barret was horrible as well and it was a PPV.
At least with Lyakhovick Vs. Briggs you had that hope that Briggs could drop him with one shot. I wanted Lyakhovik to win, but as far as suspense goes there was a little bit of something to hang your hat on.

Re: Most Painfully Boring Title fights
Tyson v Smith and Tucker!!!!

Re: Most Painfully Boring Title fights
Ruiz-Holyfeild I II III oh god i hope we are not treated to IV

That was, hands-down, the most boring, putrid, and ridiculous excuse for a title fight I have ever seen. It was easily the most boring fight I have EVER witnessed, title or not. I had a friend come over during the fight, so I switched it off out of sheer boredom, and after bitching about how bad and boring it was, I turned it back on to show him... right when Briggs KO'd Lyakhovich by knocking him out of the ring... made me look like a fool. That fight made the 2nd half of Hatton-Urango look like Hagler-Hearns, neither of them should've gotten paid after that BS and whoever won should've been immediately stripped of the title ;D
God, even thinking of it makes me want to gouge out my eyes... I cannot, in good conscience cheer on either one of those lazy bastards in any of their future fights.

that fight was an absolute disgrace and byrd was complaing that he was only getting paid 400k for the fight i would of given him a damn dime for that bs

Not if you saw the 1st 11 rds. with 2:45 seconds you had NO clue that the end result would be like so.

Well keeping it real he had 12 KO's over 8 decisions.
And some of those early KO's were nice, the thing with B-Hop is that people forget he had serious KO power back in the day as he got older he slowly became the throwback boxer we've come to know and people forget the old B-Hop with KO's.

I remember Joppy had a badly swollen cheek.
But Allen was the eliminator/tune up fight he had but I don't remember his cheek being puffy.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I had fallen for Lyakhovik after the Brewster fight so I was into the fight more than the action called for. So "for me" it was less of a bore than the Byrd-Williamson fight when in reality it was equally bad or worse.

Re: Most Painfully Boring Title fights
Bernard Hopkins- has been in a few snoozers because of his Style... I for one like his style but there are times were his fights drag a bit
