I voted Margarito TKO. 8)
by the way you misspelled his name. :P
Im taking "the Punisher" on points. I dont think he will break his hand like Clottey, because he probably doesnt hit as hard as Clottey. Therefore he will be able to pepper Tony all night...hes not gonna hurt Margarito but he is gonna be landing all night. Margarito has that slim chance he lobs a long range looper that gets between those lanky arms..but from what I've seen of Williams I'm confident he can stay busy all night and land about 2 to 1 against Tony. Wide decision.
I voted Tony by KO. Williams' work rate can win him a decision for sure, but I'm not convinced by his "D", his chin, or his wobbly legs. This fight can make Williams career skyrocket, but Tony knows the payday, and exposure he has been looking for is 1 win away. Tony stays focused, and cathes up with Williams late.
Margarito UD
Margarito by K.O. IN 5TH OR 6TH RD
post how you think your chosen fighter would win
i think williams wins by decision
your thoughts ??
so is there no williams or margarito fans on this forum
oh well
I say Willaims wins big in this, I heard he used to rough Margarito up pretty bad in sparring.
This whole sparring rumor has gotten out of hand.
No disrespect, but there was already a poll about this fight. I think its on the third page of Boxing Chat, but it was on the first page yesterday. that's probably why you're not getting alot of responses.Quote:

Topic Merged. :)
I say it goes the distance with Margarito outpointing Williams in a fire fight.
Williams is a bit too green for my liking...that being said...I do like Williams & his desire for the top...but he's too green...even 30 or so fights in.
I aint a fan of Margarito.
Sorry.
No need to be sorry, once he wrecks the main men at 147,you'll respect him. This thread has been done before, hence not alot of responses. I say Tony UD.Quote:

But I've shifted dramatically on this one. Coming off the Sharmba victory, it was Paul Williams all the way 8) But now I've watched the Mattysse (however the hell you spell his name, dude looks funny anyways) fight for like the 10th time, and on the 10th time it sunk in that Paul could be in for trouble. Why in the hell does he hold his hands so damn low? It doesn't make sense, and sometimes he reacts to a punch by picking his hands up, and he just isn't fast enough. He slipped OK I guess. But had it been Margarito that night, any form of Margarito, Paul would have been in over his head.
But still, I like Williams to slip most of Margarito's long straight punches. It's those sneaky, rangy uppercuts that worry me. That left lead uppercut is Margarito's most underrated punch and I foresee it being a factor.
And Paul needs to work on countering to push the pace. As busy as he is, he still waits to long in lulls of action to get going. He tends to stare at you while you do nothing, then go to work like 5 seconds later. Against Margarito, that 5 seconds of inactivity will be 2 seconds. And I think we all agree the one who pushes the pace better wins the fight. Well, Paul better act quickly.
GO WILLIAMS 8) A "Punishing" UD :D
But I'm a little worried
LMAO,don't worry bro,I #m glad you sort of the see the light. Tony keeps his hands up better than Paul,is better on the inside, has fought much better competition and I just think is the better overall fighter.Paul has a chance to win from the outside but even then, can see Tony's long looping rights landing frequently. I really do hope Paul gts his ass kicked,he spoke a lot of nonsense before.Quote:

Can't wait for this one....
El Gamo,
I'm thinking about asking my girl 'the question' this weekend.... :)
margarito but im not sure how.
I think Williams will try to bang with Tony , and he won't have the chin to do that
Spadafora roughed up Mayweather something terrible in sparring, but I don't think he would have ever beat Mayweather come fight night.Quote:

The problem with Paul is I only have one of his fights. I've seen quite a few margarito fights, and Paul's fight was against this tiny guy on the Mayweather-Baldomir or Mayweather-Judah undercard.
I'll have to go with Margarito by split decision. I think it will be a very close fight with both guys staying busy. Can't wait for the 14th!
Gym war stories, thats all that is.... ;) And in the words of the GREAT "Common"Quote:

I don't think PW is a prospect anymore!!Quote:

To me dehyrating yourself and using intravenous drips to rehydrate afterwards, allowing you to weigh in much less than you actually are is just as much cheating as taking steroids imo.
He's huge for the weight class, throws a lot of punches but has embarrasingly little power for the weight and I fully expect Margarito to break him apart.

Williams said that he walks around at 155 lbs recently. I doubt he does that.
I remember Teddy Atlas making a case for boxers being able to do that during the Zahir Raheem fight. I think Raheem was denied the right to do that, and Teddy said that it is dangerous to send a fighter out there who isn't completely replenished.
I couldn't make up my mind on this one. I really just have not seen enough fights of PW to tell if he is good enough. Maybe Margarito is being judged to harshly for his bad night against Clottey. But I think most here agree that Clottey is a legit contender that would give anybody a rough night and I would not be supprised if we see a world title on his hands withind the next year or two.
Margarito should win but I just don't know.
I picked Margarito by UD.
interesting fight actually....hmmm. I rekon its a winnable fight for both guys, but id say Tony has the slight and very slight edge in my books. Williams could pull this off though.
It doesn't surprise me your poll having a smashing percentage for a Tony win ( KO or UD). Williams is all made to get caught as Tony combines leading jabs with balanced body punches - that is the main question here, Paul will try to keep him at bay and possibly cut him with flashy, long shots but when the guy gets in, he can't tie him up without taking a couple of twisting shots to his wiry frame - I really believe Tony will break him in 4 rounds or so, bad motha fucker that Tijuana guy is...
We don't know what kind of shape Margarito was in either, but also it was his fight they were preparing for.Quote:
