Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
As he dazzles us with his sublime skills , wonderful reflexes , fighting top name opponent's,
WHY does he have to talk total trash all the time ?
He could maybe 1 day be talked about in the same way as SRL or SRR but i doubt even his biggest fans like the way he acts outside the ring.
I think the majority of people will want Oscar to win , i mean I'm not Oscar's biggest fan by any means but hes a good role model for the sport and i want him to knock Floyd out mainly because i wanna see wot he has to say after .
So guys tell me your views?
and give me your prediction, mine is
Oscar KO 9

well noone liked ali when he talked shit but time and time again ali proved himself ............. and i bet 5 ppl money and they dont even follow boxig they jus pick oscar cuz he nice

Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
He's selling himself.
He consciously knows the sport needs characters.
And he's trying his damned hardest to create a persona. Create buzz for himself and for the sport.
And he's doing it.
It's much more exciting to see a fight of good guy vs bad guy rather than one good guy vs another pretty good guy.
So he chose to be the bad guy and embellishes it as much as he can at every opportune time.
It's certainly causes a LOT of buzz. Making Oscar's fans wish they knock his ass out even more.
And even boxing fans who were for neither of the fighters, a lot of them are tuning in wanting to see Oscar win just because Floyd's talking so much.
He's become a great salesman.
Remember early on in Floyd's career when he was winning fight after fight but he wasn't getting a lot of recognition outside of the sport because he just wasn't a dnamic enough personality?
Well, he's arrived as a personality now.
So people will tune in because they love him, or they'll tune in to see him get his ass beat.
The fact is, people will tune in.
And that's the goal.
Oh, and Floyd TKO in the 9th

Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Everyone was looking at floyd to be like SRL, then he was charged with assault, and a few domestic violences, which labeled him as a punk. He still tried to maintain, and be a nice guy, but it created no sales, and seemed fake. So now, he has embraced his punk image, and it's working so far. Millions of people will be watching, not just Oscar, but Floyd. Regardless if they just want to see him lose.

Its what Floyd does in the ring that matters. His trash talking is irrelevant to me. A fight needs to be sold and he is playing the bad guy and so be it.
Floyd by decision

You're giving Floyd way too much credit. I think it's much more likely that he's just a delusional jackass that has bought in all the hype created for him and has gotten completely out of control.
BTW, you can still get 40-1 in Vegas on an ODLH win by 2nd round ko. Now that's good money!

He is a pompus little ass who is skilled as they come but also came along in the right era.....If this was 1985 Floyd Mayweather would be just another fighter...I don't care what anyone says.....

Would you mind listing the fighters between 130 and 147 pounds who would have been better than Floyd in 1985?

SRL
Hearns
Duran
That's the big 3. Not saying I agree but you have to give them all a fair shake against Floyd.

None of them were Welterweights in 1985 and if he would of fought Duran at Welterweight he would of won others he would of lost to.

Couldn't have said it myself better. Some people need to start watching and betting on fights by skills and not with the heart, cause this ain't WWE or something,I agree that Floyd is immature and all that, but he's also a brilliant boxer and can back up all the shat he talks in the ring.

When I say 1985 I refer to it as an about so if you want to get technical we will say from 1980-1988---
He would not have out boxed Hecto Camacho,,,Camacho would have frustrated Floyd,,,Aaron Pryor would have Ko'd him...Leonard would have beat him,,Hearns,,Arguello,,Whitaker,,,need I go on.....Everey single one of them would wipe thier ass with Floyds resume
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I'd disagree with any of them frustrating and KO'ing Floyd.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Aaron Pryor is the one with the only real shot to KO Floyd imo. I could see Whitaker and Leonard beating him, though they would be toss ups.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Oscar's gonna get schooled bad, similar to what Bernard Hopkins did to Keith Holmes.

while arrogance is/was common to both floyd and ali, the comparison ends there. ali was articulate, politically engaged, emphasized to youth respect for elders and staying off drugs, and was damn funny and charismatic.

You obviously have little knowledge of a young prime Hector Camacho...or Arguello pre 140 lbs

Whitaker Floyd 50-50? NO WAY! Pernell would beat Floyd's ass!Hearns would have battered him,Leonard would have been too much. I have little knowledge on Camacho when he was younger so fill me in on that Daxx.

More to do with you underrating Mayweather i see Arguello get outboxed by Pryor when he stuck and move and Pryor isn't master boxer like Mayweather and i've seen flaws in Arguello where Mayweather could beat him in other fights and Camacho was good fighter but not as skilled as Mayweather i mean Camacho got battered pillar to post by slow Chavez and also got basically shut out by Oscar im sorry he wouldn't beat Mayweather and i've seen quite a few of his fights.

Whitaker isn't unbeatable he was master boxer and master defensive boxer but so is Mayweather maybe not as good defensively but he is on par with Whitaker in skills and i can't believe you think it would be easy lets just wait and see when Mayweather's career is over and see if you have same opinion.

There has never been a great all around boxer who got dominated. KO'd? Yes. Dominated? Give me a break.

Disagree.

Disagree.

I agree here. Keep in mind, Leonard and Hearns were both naturally much bigger than Floyd. They started at 147, before going to 154, 160, 168, etc. I could see them beating Floyd at 147, because both were great fighters, and they were much bigger. Hearns was very tall and rangy for a welterweight.
Great fighter, but I think Floyd could outbox him. Great fight though.
Whitaker is much younger than these other guys. His prime was '89-'95. I think Whitaker is a better fighter than Floyd, but it's hardly a washout. It would be a close fight.
All in all, if Floyd fought in the 1980s, or any other decade, would there be fighters who could possibly beat him? Sure.
But he would be among the PFP best in boxing at any given time period. He wouldn't have been "just any fighter," which is what you stated in your original post. He would've been considered as one of the top fighters in the sport, whether it was 1995, 1985, 1965, etc.

Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I agee that floyd is as talented as some of the greats be4 him but hes way to araagont for ne normal person to stand him only the people with the same size heads as him can. Nd he beleives hes the best of all time even no people like ray robinson nd pep had about 4 or 5 times the amount of fights he has he mocks them for losing but i guarntee back in them days with less protection from the reffs nd fighting that many times a year he wouldnt last to long. Also ive heard alot of people say that although ali was great at boxing it was his peronality that set him aprt from all the others, like larry holmes i think he could of beat ali at there primes but holmes even said if he tries to say he is the greatest people would say hes copying ali but i think thats bcos every1 saw him as a role model who they loved unlike floyd who is much less exciting to watch nd an arrogant boxer whos shows no respect to other fighters even though deserve it for stepping in the ring.

The Hector Camacho who fought Chavez was not a prime Camacho....It was not the version of Camacho who wore the lightweight title...So by using Chavez as an example you answered the question on how much you know of Hector Camacho Sr....And the fact you used Chavez tells me what years of Camacho you have seen...The lightweight Version of Camacho was faster then Floyd Mayweather JR....Hit harder and had a mean streak...Since you seem to think your what is it 17 or 18 years in life makes you such an expert I'll let you explain why and in which fight Camacho turned from the agressive master boxer to the hit and run suspect...
Your a good poster ICB and you have a lot of boxing knowledge but it is all based on recent fighters and comparisons are often made using great fighters past their best days

At one point and time Camach was an aggressive puncher...In plain old english Hector was just MEAN...as with many young fighters we have seen throughout history always trying to prove a point....Well in one fight Hector was fighting a top ranked opp who I will not name because ICB is an expert who has seen enough of Camacho's fights to know everything about him....Or at least certain enough to know he would have no chance against Floyd Mayweather...
OK enough sarcasim.....Point is Hector was a top prospect and hopes for him were high...as with many weigh in's and pre fight hoopla and trash talk bad blood was built....Camacho took it too far and punished the fighter in the ring....And again I stress it was a very capable fighter at the time.....instaed of finishing it like a true warrior and letting things be...Camacho decided he wanted revenge so everytime he had the guy where he wanted him he would let up enough to let the guy gain some compsure and recoup between rds....This was something that had no bearing on looking good for the crowd or showboating it was pure intent...
When all was over the man was never the same again and to this day suffers from the beating Camacho gave him....This was a time when fights did not get stopped like they did now a days...There was no there will always be a tommorow safety first policy....
After seing what he had done Hector never went after an opponent like he did that night again...and that version of Hector Camacho was not the one most people know today...There was a time Hector not only was fast as lightning but liked to go at it... He was not a run around the ring type guy....
Here is a hint...look up Camacho's record on boxrec...take notice on when his KO and TKO's stopped coming on a regular basis
Who ever can figure it out and post a link to the fight or at least a clip...will get CC's on me for two weeks straight......The come talk to me about Hector Camacho and Flod Mayweather going toe to toe with him during his prime

Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
ODLH will struggle at first to get past PBFL speed but dont forget oscar is no slouch, I think oscar will start grinding floyd down with snappy counters over the top then dance away, then come on strong in the latter stages to record a 10th round stoppage! Floyd will be left crying like a baby! :'(

So people will tune in because they love him, or they'll tune in to see him get his a** beat.
The fact is, people will tune in.
And that's the goal.
Oh, and Floyd TKO in the 9th
You're giving Floyd way too much credit. I think it's much more likely that he's just a delusional jackass that has bought in all the hype created for him and has gotten completely out of control.
BTW, you can still get 40-1 in Vegas on an ODLH win by 2nd round ko. Now that's good money!
You'll get 90-1 for ODLH to win by 2nd rd KO at 5dimes. Now that's better money!! ;)

Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Camacho would never beat Floyd. Someone is smoking too much. Sorry, but I've seen alot of Camacho's fights, and he wouldn't beat Floyd.
Besides, Aaron Pryor is who you should be talking about, since Camacho, Leonard and Company ALL ducked him.

At 147 Hearns is a bad amtch up for anyone....Tommy was a freak of nature at that weight....His right hand could end it at anytime no matter who you are if caught flush....and Tommy had some of the most underratted boxing skills of that generation

Agreed Thomas Hearns could box with best of them but sometimes he used to brawl when it wernt to his best advantage i used to like his jab i believe it was called flicker jab used to catch opponent off guard good technique putting left arm down near your waist then throw jab sharp and fast they don't expect because they can't watch for shoulder muscles but you have to have good reactions to do it because if your slow and put your jab arm low your going to be finding yourself on the canvas but still good technique.
