its gonna be one of the most boring fights of all time, mayweather will not take a single risk, and if he fights like i know he will ODH will have trouble landing even his jab, it will be uneventfull, frustrating, and there will be NO KTFOING going on
with so much publicity on what is sure to suck balls it may hurt boxing

I feel too that it wont live up to the hype. This much much hype never seems to eventuate in satisfaction.

Oscar knows it's going to be hard to win this fight. But, he also knows, he can take a risk, and probably not get KOd. Floyd will fight his fight, and that will be that. Seriously doubt the fight will live up to the hype. And, whats going to happen after the fight?
Will Oscar sign Floyd, and set up a Mosely fight? Or will Oscar try to screw Floyd out of any fights. But, like you said, this could be bad.
Or, even if Oscar won, who's he gonna fight? Mosely? Ha ha ha!
What really bugs me about the whole situation is that both fighters have said (not set in stone), that they will retire after this fight. That would really suck for boxing.

it cant be boring because if no punch is thrown in a round tll still be that tension and supense cuz these 2 fighters are fighting amean for a real boxing fan ..................... like jones tarver 3 it was boring a second third time u watched it but the first time i was in the tv without a complaint ....... so it may not live up to the hype but i think mayweather will throw alot of punches regardless weather hes gettin hit or not..... it should be a good fight iam not expecting hagler-hearns but itll be good trust me it cant be bad even if only 50 punches are thrown jus beacsuse these 2 got togethter

You mentioned last nights fight. Could have been better. One guy was scared, and the other guy was glad he was scared. Mike should have tried a little harder. Hopefully Oscar won't be content to lay back like that.

Another one of these posts...How is ONE fight going to hurt boxing???If it does turn out to be "boring" in the eyes of "so called fans"...it wouldnt be the first fight that didnt live up to expectations.As for Floyd not slugging it out...the objective is to win!!!Why sit there and throw haymakers and get knocked out by a guy swinging for the fences when you can box smart.If you think that the fight is going to be boring....dont watch it.That way you cant complain.

im saying that its high profile enough that non fans will watch it, and it may convince them there is no reason to watch boxing when they cant watch really shitty MMA guys stand still and hit each other with joe calzaghe arm punches untill one falls down

i hope it doesn't hurt boxing, these kind of hype fights do tend to dissapoint.
it will depend on on pretty boy and golden boy though.
but i just can't see a guy like maywhether being the guy to put boxing on the map like it use to be. oscar has done enough for the sport if he wins this fight it'll help boxing but if he loses ooh well. we still have guys like pacquioa and cotto to be excited about. but credit to oscar his been great for boxing as a boxer. but i'm not yet sure about as a promoter.

Gotta reply to this again Sal. I totally see where you're coming from, and to a certain extent I agree(check other posts), but, actually, this could be good for boxing, as long as Oscar's ego doesn't get in the way. assuming Floyd wins (my pick by UD), Floyd could drop down to 147, and fight Mosely, and then the winner of that, could fight the Williams-Margarito--Cotto-Judah winner mini tourney. That would be what every boxing fan (maybe not the public), wants to see. Alot of people have played this out in their heads I'm sure. Now, if Oscar wins, where do we go? That might not be good. Because, I don't see him fighting Mosely again, or dropping down to fight anyone. Does he go for Taylor? Can't see him winning that fight. Or does he retire? If Oscar wins, good for him, and his legacy. But, not good for boxing, IMO.

People will be happy as long as they have something nasty to say about Mayweather. If he appears to lillylivered and yellowbellied the people will jeer him and cheer Oscar.
The only way Oscar can look bad is if he gets KO'd or beat to pieces by an agressive Mayweather.

I don't think this fight will go so far as to hurt boxing, by any means. But I'm almost certain it will "disappoint so many", as Sal says. There's almost no way it won't. First, the hype has built to almost biblical proportions, and will only get worse. No way the fight lives up to it.
Besides, the script may as well be written. It will be a chess match the whole way. Floyd does not have the power to KO Oscar (unless he goes for the liver, like Hopkins..... heh, heh), and Oscar does not have the skill or movement to catch and KO Floyd. Also, Oscar will be extra careful not to get caught with a lucky punch, while Floyd will do his usual posing and clowning, especially if he feels he's winning a decision.
The thing has "letdown" written all over it.
