Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
One thing i just noticed to bring up this topic..
Oscar de la hoya mayweather 24/7 ... the scene is the wilfredo gomez gym in puerto rico where oscar is training and the camera's shoot to a couple of other fighters in the gym.. So im like Whoah its my man Ivan Calderon!
So this brings up the topic..Dont you love to see either your favourite fighters or favourite celbrities at fights, gyms or on some other television or anything...
For example ..I thought it was pretty cool to see Winky Wright and My man James Toney kicking it at the first fight between castillo and corrales!..
So what you guys think of this? Who what and where can you remember seeing your favourite stars at a fight or anything?
Peace

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
Well, I got one, but in reverse. Some years ago I was at a Cotto fight here in PR, when Hector Camacho showed up and started doing his shadow boxing bit. People started booing the sh*t out of him, and I actually felt kinda sorry for the poor guy. Not a Camacho fan or anything like that, but I still felt bad for him tho.
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
Damn..So just finished watching the second de la hoya mayweather 24/7
And who should show up at the gym but my man tito trinidad!
And if im not wrong! I beleive Tito had one of them shiny as grill's on those pearly white teeth of his!! lol
pretty sweet!
But also yuh Course preme you cant count barrera with the golden boy..
I love to see the golden boy pictures when you see Bernard, Shane, marco and oscar hanging out together!! Its like damn..There are four ring legends of our era kicking it together at a press conference!
N also i remember Freddie Prince Jr was at cotto malignaggi!! Lol..He came over to say hi to george foreman who was calling the fight that night lol...

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..

JCC Sr. and Jr. along with Mexican Actor Diego Luna were also both ringside, so was Jeff Lacy and SSM.
I think thats one of the best parts about the bright lights in boxing that once they are shining all the celebs come out.
Uumm! let's see.
Denzel Washington, Salma Hayek & Edward Norton, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Edward James Olmos, Sylvester Stallone, that I can recall were all at ODLH-SSM I.
Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z & Beyonce, Fat Joe, have all been at a few Winky & Trinindad fights.
Nick Lachey, was ringside for Cotto-Torres.
Mr. T was ringise for a Ricardo 'Finito' Lopez fight can't remember who Lopez fought. ???
2Pac was at Tyson-Seldon fight.
Julio Diaz, Bobby Chacon, Erik Morales, Floyd Sr., Mario Lopez & Goldberg were ringside for Marquez-Vasquez.
Roselyn Sanchez & Victor Manuel were both ringside for ODLH-Tito.

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I'll pull a Larry Merchant. Most celebrities make me want to throw up. What a bunch of losers.

Yup..Constructive..
But in actual fact..Was the topic not also about boxers with other boxers..
Or did you think well i have no input about boxers so i'll just slag off some people instead of just ignoring the topic..
So you a p4p champ? How many of those posts are built up with stuff like this when you could have just ignored the topic when you have nothing decent to say?

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I get happy when I see celebs on the boxing scene that I didn't realize enjoyed the sport.
Like when I saw my all-time favorite writer/comedian/actor/director in the Sugar Ray Robinson doctumentary that Daxx mentioned last month or so...
WOODY ALLEN! I was looooving it!
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
Watched "Ringside", the Ali edition(6 hours long), and saw Tony Danza about 4 rows back in a few fights. Other celebs were there, but you can't miss young Danza with his moptop.
Thought it was funny watching him jump up and down.
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I remember PBF vs Sharmba Mitchell with Michael Jordon among the audience...
People went nuts when he was shown on the big screen...
Same happened with Earvin "Magic" Johnson, but in a different fight...can't remember which
fight it was...or maybe it was the same, but I don't think so...
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
Yup. MJ was there because of Andre Ward, who's part of Team Jordan, was on the card.
You'll always have an abundance of fighters ringside if it's a well put on show. Last one I went to about a month ago had Toney, Tex Cobb (supposedly, I never saw him), Robert Guerrero, Ray Mancini and Robin Williams was there. And it wasn't even a big card.
Paris Hilton has been to a Pacquiao fight. Vegas fights, the big ones are like red carpet events really. Mos Def and a ton of other rappers were at the Judah - Baldomir fight. Literally like a ton of them.
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
im not proud but i was at a holyfield fight im not going to mention who he fought that night lol ;)
but i sat behind motor city cobra, next laila ali and chris byrd.
as i was walking out i bumped into Jermaine Dupri shot caller of SO SO DEF i was shocked to see him rollin solo with no entourage or body guard or even a fine ho cuz hes so small man? guess he wanted to just blend in and again holyfield being from ATL he was prolly there to show love to ATL as well.
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
then i walked further and bumped into Vin Diesal. at this time Vin Diesal was not yet famous he wasnt a leading man yet he was more so a co-star, but i just finised a project with him and did some stunt work with him so i said sup and he was shocked that i even recognized him out of the many other celebs there.
he was rolling deep with a bunch of pretty boys who seriously looked like A&F catalog boys :-\
i told him dont worry man this summer the movie will blow u up and u gonna be ridiculously famous/successful. he was mad humble and cool.
-
Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
Celebs are there most of the time because they have ties to a certain fighter.
Busta and almost everyone at Interscope....Dame Dash and rocafella records all have ties with Winky Wright through Violator and small advertisements that Winky does.
Zab is close to Pacman(titans player),Lil Kim,Jay-z,Young Jeezy, not to mention the countless others linked to the BMF family.
Like someone said earlier about Andre Ward...he is with team Jordan.
So is Roy Jones Jr...Who has a record label which rubs elbows with a sh*t load of rappers. So its common to catch Michael Jordan at Ward and Jones fights...

Zab is close to Pacman(titans player) -- Olympian
I think Pacman Jones got a raw deal with that 1yr suspension. Harsh.

They are but I mean, convictions take a while. They have never needed a conviction to suspend before, ask Leonard Little. Pacman seems to be owning up a bit and is reconciling with Jeff Fisher, so obviously the suspension was a step in the right direction for him. I'm sure the NFL saw the video tape from that night at the strip club too, which wouldn't need much of a conviction.
I've always liked Pacman, hope he picks himself up after this and I hope the Titans give him that opportunity, but something had to be done about 15 run ins with the law.

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
jack nickolson shows his face at the big fights all the time. he's a big boxing fan. also i think it was the calzaghe - lacy fight where james toney, winky wright and diego corrales were all there with each other.

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I'm sure there'll be a bunch of celebs at Floyd-DLH.
Cotto-Judah will get a big amount of celebs as well. i suspect there'll be a ton of rappers there. Zab's posse might be up to 50 people for this fight!
On another note, one thing I always liked seeing with the old fights is when they would introduce all the old champs who were at the fight, and the old champs would waive to the crowd and then wish both of the fighters good luck. They never do this anymore. The only time I can remember this being done recently was at Tito-Hopkins, they had some of the great fighters who had won middleweight belts at some point. I know they had Duran, Emile Griffith, and Iran Barkley there, to name a few.
They should do something like that at Floyd-DLH with old 147/154 pound champs. They could have guys like Leonard, Whitaker, Hearns, Duran, Tito, etc. I bet most of those guys will be at the fight.

Yes convictions take time...BUT...he hasnt been charged with anything...the incident at the club didnt even involve him. There was a shooting...and someone said that he was talking to the guy before he started shooting. He has been pulled over for speeding, they found weed, and he has been questioned about various crimes.Being questioned about a crime doesnt make you guilty.

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I remember pretty boy floyd jumping up and down and screaming at pac to keep going at morales at pac vs em 2, and when pac k.oed eric you can see floyd jumping and all excited like he just won a bet. He turned around or something and i think got up on his chair to rowdy the crowds even more.

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
The shooting at the club may not have involved him, but if the NFL saw a tape of him beating up on a stripper, which is what led to him being thrown out of the place, then yeah that doesn't need much of a conviction imo. And they don't need a conviction or a charge to suspend you either.

wtf would you beat a stipper for???????? ???

Re: Dont you love to see the celeb's turn up..
I love to see other fighters at a big fight card match. That shows respect. But seeing celebrities like Stallone or Bruce Willis at a fight is just a way to get them publicity. I like to see when actors are at small fights on ESPN. That means more to me. I do remember that Ben Stiller and Vince Vaghn (spelling?) were at some model boxing thing in Los Angeles a few years back.

He did not beat a stripper....he threw out 81k in order to get others to tip...and one of the strippers tried to take the money. He said that it was just for illusion. And yes,the NFL doesnt need a conviction to suspend you. They can suspend you for anything...its THEIR league. Its pointless for the league to punish a guy until it has been proven that he has done something.Innocent until proven guilty...not the other way around.
