Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates) (SPOILER)
http://www.fightnews.com/universum133.htm
In less than a week it will be on...
I'm a huge Sturm fan and really excited about the fight...
Castillejo was pretty confident that Felix hadn't recovered from the loss, thats actually
my biggest fear,so I hope Castillejo is wrong...
BTW Felix got married in January this year(I didn't know that...)...

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...
CC#74 Johnny,
I hadn't seen your thread 'till now....
I think Castillejo beats him again this time by Decision.
Castillejos NOT gonna budge hes got the confidence that he can beat him and the sheer thought that hes done it already is what will push him on to the Decision victory.

I like Sturm good guy an all but IF he can overcome EVERYTHING thats happened in his life all this emotions of loosing a fight, loosing your mother, getting married if he can pack all that in and use it for the better of him then I see a victory for him.
IMO, I just don't think he can, yes boxings a physical sport BUT the mentally of it is MUCH more then the physical. I mean is the muslce on your body gonna stop the pain you feel when punches are coming at you?
Nope.
It's your mentally that pushes through for you, you start talking to yourself and say things like "I ain't feel a thing he ain't hitting me he ain't doing shit to me" thats what makes you forget about the pain that your fully focused and your mental game is set and 100% there.

Sturms young and looks to be more ready then EVER.
I mean marrige is a big deal for a lot people and I think the marrige plays a big factor hear. I think thats just what he needed something to lift his spirits and the marrige did just that for him. He looks hungrier then ever and will def. be ready come Sat. night.
I think hes got a better chance then most people think. :)

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...
Felix Sturm (GER) - Javier Castillejo (ESP) (WBA Title) - 8:00 PM +4
8:00 PM Felix Sturm (GER) 1.45 X 21.00 Javier Castillejo (ESP) 2.75 +4
This is how bwin.com is seeing it...I'm not sure what it exactly means :rolleyes3: ,but
I think they favor Sturm...(but they did in the first fight,too)...
Before the Castillejo fight I thought Sturm is the perfect package, beside lacking some power, but
it seems that he is also a bit chinny,I don't think he's got a glass chin, but still ...
But on the other hand considering his age Castillejo is an animal...
I think Castillejo will try to finish it early pressuring Sturm very hard trying to break him mentally
and physically...so its up to Sturm to outbox him, which he certainly can...
:excited:

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates)
Honestly...I don't even want to know the outcome of this fight...unless Sturm hammers his ass out.
Can't stand the thoughts of Sturm losing this one.

As morbid as this sounds...I hope that it was the "mommy factor" which brought Sturm down.

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates)
Surely Castillejo is a time bomb waiting to be detonated by an in form and ready Felix Sturm.
-
Sturm wins a snoozer
Offical scores
116-112
115-114
116-112
Pretty much Castillejo chases Sturm around the ring the entire fight.
Sturm covers up, takes some punches and counters and connects.

Re: Sturm wins a snoozer
What network was the fight on??

Re: Sturm wins a snoozer
zdf in Germany. I watched it on a live stream.

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates) (SPOILER)
Felix Sturm became a three-time world champion, as he regained the WBA belt via unanimous decision against WBA middleweight titlist Javier Castillejo, Saturday at the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. Castillejo, who had stopped Sturm in their previous fight, again tried to be aggressive, but Sturm's movement, clean punching and good defense allowed him to pile up the rounds, then withstand a late Castillejo surge to win by scores of 116-112, 116-112, 115-113.

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates) (SPOILER)
As easily as a weight drained Vargas beat up Castillejo at 154 there's no reason Sturm shouldn't have shut him out...

I think your underestimating 'El Lince' when you say 'No reason' well hes only been stoped once I've never seen that fight but 2 reports that I remember said the ref. waived it off prematurely. So who knows ???
Anyway! I think Castillejos always been game to face anyone. He seemed to have caught a 2nd wind after the ODLH fight and the TKO over Sturm was the high point of it. No doubt hes one of Spains all time greats but I think this is as far as his World stage career has taken him.

Thing is, Sturm was/is supposed to be a better boxer then Vargas was when he was attempting to be a boxer and he dominated the fight. So Sturm who is supposed to be the next best in the middleweight division I just don't understand how he isn't able to shut out Javier. Javier is a good fighter but he is past his best. Sturm should have been able to dominate him, but it was a close fight. I wonder how the third fight will go. By the sounds of it(and the scores I'm looking at) it was like Vivian Harris and Juan Lazcano

Yeah he should have made a bigger statement. I like Sturm but hes still pretty beatable imo. He fought well against a smaller out of shape ODLH which i thought was a draw but Castillejo is a very good fighter but hes not elite.

What do you mean when you say Vargas dominated Castillejo?
Dominate how?

He dropped him in the second round and won just about every round in my opinion. The fight was close for you?

The knockdown happened in the 3rd round.
Well I wouldn't call it dominate, unless you consider wining rounds on throwing 1 punch at a time every 20 seconds while Castillejo just stood there looking at him. One of the most boring fights I have ever seen it was soooo boring I had completely forgot that I had watched it.
I don't think Vargas dominated Castillejo I think Vargas won simply on the fact that he was actually moving and landing that 1 punch while Castillejo just stood there.

Re: Sturm-Castillejo presser...(+ updates) (SPOILER)
So sorry...I promised results directly after the fight and some update in between...
But I was watching not at home with some friends, with no internet connection nearby...
And now...
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
Felix did it again and three times is the charm, meaning he will hopefully stay champion
for some time...

Which makes the fact that Sturm struggled even worse :(
