<A GREAT read on one of the worlds greatest champs>
Daniel 'The Mouse' Zaragoza is argueably the best IF not ONE of the top 3 Super Bantamweights of all time.
His awsome will power and guts & glory style made him one of Mexicos most adored fighters. His career has gone through some major ups and downs. From back to back loses and that tragic drama that came after his fight with Paul Banke to becoming the 3-time Super Bantam. Champ.
Heres a great read I found on the ESPN site, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=2844015
And for the record I think Zaragoza is on par with Basilio for boxer who are under rated and forgotten.
Re: <A GREAT read on one of the worlds greatest champs>
Great read on a great fighter. :coolclick: man!
I remember an interview with Erik Morales not too long ago where he was asked to list his 3 hardest opponents in order... here is the list. ;)
3: Marco Antonio Barrera
2: Wayne McCullough
1: Daniel Zaragoza
I think that says enough, the fact that El Terrible considers him his hardest opponent. Granted, this interview was before Morales encountered Pacquiao... but you get the point. ;)

I wouldn't put too much stock in that list. That's just Morales' way of getting in one last dig at Barrera. Reminds me of when James Toney said that Merqui Sosa hit harder than Sam Peter.
Zaragoza was a great fighter though.
Re: <A GREAT read on one of the worlds greatest champs>
they had a article on him on espn boxing and he said there is alot of wear and tear on his body
zaraoga a great champion hof a war machine and a mexican great fighter
when he went against morales the fight was pretty close before the body shot morales did

Totally agree, Zaragoza is very much underrated. I saw him fight Fenech and that was brutal!!

I was just thinking today, if they did one of these 24/7 series for Morales-MAB III, Erik probably would've dropped more F-bombs (in Spanish) talking about MAB than Floyd has about Oscar.

he likes to address MAB in this fashion: Que vaya y chinge a su madre/He can go fu*k his mother.
Re: <A GREAT read on one of the worlds greatest champs>
Wilfredo Gomez is prolly best ever Super Bantamweight.

Hence why I said below.
The Mouse was a gutsy fighter, no guts no glory gave his best efforts all the time. Highly over looked IMO and would def. give ANY Super. Bantam. of today a run for their money.

I don't think Basilio is underrated at all. Hell, aficianados hold him in higfh esteem. Won more Ring Fight of the Year than Carter has Pills. Carmen was on a very high level for many years.
