I met a lot of pro boxers (and K1 kick boxers, but this is not the topic) : I won't list them all (since there are a lot of not very well known boxers), and it was just for a short time or for training. (meaning not a lot of discussion)
but some boxers impressed me in good ways
Oleg Platov
Souleyman M'baye
Jean Marck Mormeck
Fabrice Tiozzo
Lucia Rijkers
Valerie Henin (she was a fox!) :-)
there are very good persons.
One boxer made me laugh, Pinklon thomas, I met him during one of my trip in US, he was joking all the time, he was good humoured, really.
One boxer I nearly fought with : Duane Bobick, I know nobody knows him, but he was pretty famous in the 70's 80's, he was supposed to be the next great white hope. I met him and pitty for me, he was totally drunk...and he really cursed at everyone....I just started to say nasty things also (I was young) and we had to be separated....really something to forget.
who did you like the best...
winky was orsumeeee top bloke
Yea i know Duane he beat Larry Holmes in 1976 Olympic trials didn't he ??Quote:

Duane is the guy form a family full of boxers (4 boxers brothers I think) he was so hyped because of his white pedigree at that time (70's) that he was saw as the Threat for Ali....until he was knocked out by Ken Norton in one round :-)
this guy (duane) could punch, for sure, but only against static opponent and glass jaw average guy....http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=15810
anyway, I have more pitty for him than anything else, but when I met him he went too far in way of cursing people...(but he was drunk).
I heard also some identical stories about Tommy Morrison, but don't know if it's true....
my grandpa met and knows alot

but really nice down to earth fella, shook his hand got photo and autoghraph.....i was rapped......and also a few aussie boxers that know one would have heard of except mundine ;)
Ummmm, the guys that I have met face to face are Scott Gammer, Enzo Maccarinelli and Clinton Woods, they are all guys that are good hard-working fighters who have a great interest in boxing rather than being wholly interested in the result of the tie. I enjoyd talking with Woods and Mark Hobson, as well as Mark Krence, but come fight time I respect them all for stepping in between the ropes.
Umm, it's not as though I was guessing, but I was fully expecinting Daxx's list to be a who;s who of boxing.Quote:

Not met to many, Toney probably sticks out more then anyone but by far the most enjoyable person I have ever met was Johnny Gonsalves. Gonsalves is a San Francisco LEGEND, and I talked to him for a good 5 minutes about the nights fights and he initiated the talk as I didn't even want to make any eye contact with him if I didn't have to. But very wise, very funny probably the most OLD SCHOOL guy I ever met. Had me in stitches, a fighter retired on his stool and Johnny said he would rubbed him down with sandpaper and forced him to go back out ;D And he wasn't kidding. He died earlier this year and the Chronicle published a VERY nice full page tribute to him. Was very cool.
And James Toney is probably one of the funniest people I have met in my life period. I couldn't keep a straight face with him.
Eubank !
Met him on the Seafront in Brighton after iwas nearly run over by his kids on Scooters !! What aGent.
Met everybody inBritain they always hang around the York Hall i'd say Junior Witter was the biggest Tosser of them all David Haye the biggest poser but nice bloke!!
Nigel Benn was really chatty he surprised the heck out of me i told him i read his book and we talked at great length he is so honest and humble
Carl Froch was a giggle he oozes self belief he was in the Dundee Arms !
Joe Calzaghe was a gentleman really approachable but he seemed more intrested in my girlfriend , i took a photo of him with her at his insistance .
People say Boxers are always bigger when you meet them in person but i'd say i'm always struck at how small they are !
Ian Bothman once invited me for a beer with him , not a boxer but what a sportsman .
Met loads but can't be f*cked typing all the names out.
I will say that 99% of the fighters i have met are really nice individuals though.
In that case....can you be f**ked to type the names of the 1% who weren't nice individuals? ;)Quote:

Top fella
I think I met Panchito Bojado......he was a car hope at an upscale hotel.........
This is how I felt when I went to the DC press conference for Mayweather-DLH and saw Floyd in person. He was the smallest guy on the stage. BHop was there and he was about 3 times the size of Floyd.Quote:

I met Tito at a work function once. Just as he looks on TV, smiling and waving at the crowd, he was very friendly and charismatic.
People always say that though don't they ? Its wierdQuote:

My Mate had his photo taken with Hatton , Hamed and Tyson at Gatwick ( she workedon checkin ) and she always comments on how small they are !!
thing is i'm the boxing fan and she has all the wicked Anecdotes !!!
She said that Tyson was the most polite person she ever met and looked quite sad and that she felt that he actually wanted to talk longer .
Her and my lil Brothers mate both got a photo with Hatton 10 minutes apart at Gatwick .
Naseem Hamed left a voicemail for her Brother just after he lost to MAB and was going out to the Middle East !!!
What can you say class act !?
Would a Movie Star or a top Footballer do that ? They hide behind 10 foot walls and have gangs of minders so they don't have to keep it real with the little people .

what was mayweather like???
I met him in a strip club in Vegas awhile back. He was really cool. asked me to sit down and chill and hang out and talked to me about boxing. surprisingly he was alone (except all the strippers around him) so we had a conversation from about 7 in the morning till about 10. I thought he was really cool. This was a little while before the Gatti fight and he told me when I asked him who he wanted to fight the most he said Oscar Delahoya. I thought he was really nice, really personable but he definitely seemed like he was totally confident that he was the baddest mofo in boxing. To be the best you have to think like that. I remember (i was quite drunk) as I got up to leave (my flight left back to SD at 11), I was like "...one day I might be comin for you, Floyd...whatcha gonna do???" (in like a joking manner) and he just smiled and was all, "Keep drinking, Dave." It was one of the most thrilling experiences ever for me. Way cooler than meeting like a famous actor or musical artist cause Im such a big fan of boxing. But yeah, Floyd was really cool. He didn't have to say shit to me but he was like sit down, chill and hang. Good guy, if you ask me.Quote:
