I would say Holyfield vs Tyson but i think had they met in 1991/92 Tyson would have won but in 1996 Holyfield had Tyson's number Tyson was flat his footwork was crap and i watched how they worked Tyson out in a analysis programme on sky.And Collins vs Eubank
Roy Jones V Tarver
I would say Jose Louis castillo in the first mayweather fight..Yea Castillo is great..
But Floyd is undoubtedly P4p 1 and it was a hell of a performance..
Some might have said barrera against hamed when it happened..But i think barrera by now has overshadowed that huge win with a legendary career to prove he is twice as great as nas in every way
I kinda think tarver against jones.. Jones looked a shadow of his self..But stil..Antonio made those fights at the right time and did what he did to get those wins..
Another good one
Junior Jones vs Barrera
That is a good one CC ICE ;DQuote:

Something hard to come by in that era....
Saddler beat Willie Pep 3 out of 4.
Iran Barkley beat Tommy Hearns twice.
DeJesus didn't have Duran's number, but he did give him the only defeat of the early part of his career.
Junior Jones beat Barrera twice.

LOL...Calzaghe Vs Manfredo
yes hagler was awsome but imo hearns was more skilled and the better technition, his chin failed him....and i scored hagler-leonard...leonard by 1 it was damn close but hagler gave the first 4 rds away and lets not forget leonard was a natural welter and was out of action for 3 years O0Quote:

Why does this thread sound familiar like if I was talking about this just yesterday about fighters having other fighters numbers and oddly enough I think I mentioned Forrest over SSM and Jr Jones over MAB ???
I feel like Alice stumbling down the hole? :hypnotized:
Well nigel beat him the first outing.. A good fighter was malinga really awkward and tricky and defensive..Quote:

Did you know if benn had have won that he would have got the shot at roy jones!..
That was the stipulation! that benn beat malinga ..lol Had he won that fight we may have seen one of the most wanted fights around..
When it is said that Boxer A has Boxer B's number, it implies that no matter how many times they meet, the outcome of Boxer A beating Boxer B will always be the same and for that to be true, they must have met in the ring more than once. Why are we seeing examples here where there was only one meeting between boxers (i.e. De La Hoya vs. Sturm) or multiple meetings where each fighter holds at least one win over the other (i.e. Holyfield vs. Ruiz)? Forrest vs. Mosely is a great example because they have met more than once and Mosely has not been able to figure Forrest out since their amateur days. However, Forrest hasn't been the same since getting blown out by Mayorga. If you're not impressed with certain boxers, the same can be said about Mayweather vs. Castillo, Mosely vs. Vargas, Arce vs. Hussein and Peter vs. Toney (all were 'more-than-once' encounters and the victors' have all been considered less than worthy, but it all depends on who you ask).
Edit: Forgot to add the perfect example, Maskaev vs. Rahman.
Tarver didn't have jones number. Jones beet him twice(once as an amateur) before Tarver landed a good punch. That can happen to anyone.
Thomas Hearns was a great fighter and Iran Barkley was not, but Iran had his number. Somehow the style was just a good matchup for Iran. Norton had Ali's number. Junior Jones had Barrera. Actually a few guys had Barrera's number. Tarver had Jones number.
Hatton over tszyu?
Not a chance, Tunney for whatever reason is underrated by everyone. He was very hated as a fighter because of his dirty tactics and he had an arrogance about him but he could fight. The unfavorable press has stuck imo. He beat Greb 3 of 4 times in his prime and convincingly at that yet it is all but ignored. Tunney is top 20 ATG imo, where Dempsey is not.Quote:

Unless we're talking Bowe - Lewis, amateurs don't mean anything especially when the fighters were 13 when they fought. Tarver may not have had Jones number, but there has to be a reason RJ didn't press Tarver in their third fight.Quote:

I'm going back a bit here, how did Rafael Herrera who was a good fighter beat a prime Ruben Olivares...
TWICE!!!!
I think Phillips over Tszyu was more of a surprise, Hatton is a better fighter than Phillips and age caught up with Tszyu.Quote:
