Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
Not even close.
I had given up on boxing and all the hype for this fight and it flopped IMO.
Major disappointment.
Like Steward said, Mayweather is good but not great. DLH tried but I think he needs to retire.
BTW, I feel robbed.

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
I thought ODH gave it all he had and tried to give the fans what they came for.
Like he said, without him pressuring, there would have not been a fight.

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
Stewards just jealous if he had him he would be great but he has'nt his uncle Roger has man what a trainer
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
Anybody who was expecting a brawl hasn't been paying attention to boxing.

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
the fight a very interesting and i couldn't take my eyes off it for a second. I'm glad the judges weren't fooled by ODLH attempts to look busy when hardly any shots landed. Mayweather landed all the quality shots and shook Oscar a few times (best shot of the fight came when mayweather lifted Oscars chin up and cracked him just before the bell) very impressed with PBF good solid performance considering all the shitty demands Oscar made before the fight (wearing the Reyes gloves, Floyd moving up ect)

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
mayweather fights like rjj and james toney.i reckon if he was more of a toney then this fight would have been exciting, he would have done them defensive moves right infront of de la hoya in the middle of the ring and countered right back (like he did on the ropes once and rocked ODLH) instead of doing them moves when forced to when oscar flurried on him on the ropes. but still the rjj and toney combination is a tough one to beat.
i think this fight could have been more exciting if mayweather was a little more offensive minded, he seemed a little cautious. however i did notice mayweather starting to feel comfortable standing infront of de la hoya after the 3rd or 4th rounds.

What does this havve to do with roy jones jr?

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
manny sounded like a cock sucker last not when he made that comment. he one of PBF biggest supportors no all of a sudden he's not all that impressed with PBF.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
this isn't a fair comparison to Roy... Mayweather could have used alot more footwork, and won this fight alot easier if he had wanted to ALA Roy vs. Toney, but Floyd was actually trying to knock Oscar out IMO, and he hurt him a few times especially that one to the body late.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
I think near the end of the 5th round Mayweather hurt Oscar the most, when Oscar was trying to flurry at him on the ropes and Mayweather countered with 2 huge hooks.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
.....well I don't know where Floyd has been but GREAT FIGHTERS don't wait until they are ready to retire to take chances vs tough opposition.
Floyd never unified a division
Floyd has a LONG list of fighters he didn't come close to fighting which he should have
Roy Jones Jr did a lot more than Floyd IMO and the list of fighters he didn't fight is a lot shorter
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
roy jones > all other fighters

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
Good lord what would the catch weight be... Mayweather would need to be doing his training at McDonalds or KFC.

Pretty nobody truly unifies nowadays. He pretty much did at welterweight, superfeather weight, and lightweight though.

Re: Roy Jones Jr > Mayweather
i wish people would stop making it PBF fault that certain fights didn't happen. some fights don't need to happen (margarito) because nobody cares.

and the cotto fight, but we know mosely stops floyd late...i think that if floyd truly stays retired then he should be viewed as then marciano of the little guys...retiring to early..oh and floyd isn't close to Roy..i thought that if he beat mosely, cotto, margarito, he could...all the fights roy had here in the states he took them...floyd doesn't have any excuses...

We know Mosley stops Floyd late? I don't know that. I don't think anyone who would take 10 minutes to analyze both of their careers would know that either.

take all the time you'd like...mosely has too much power and his work rate and speed would win enough round to win the fight by decision...the ko would probably happen after shane overwhelms floyd with too many punches round 10 or 11...

lol. So David Estrada, Jose Luis Cruz, and Luis Collazo can all go the distance with Mosley at welterweight but somehow he's gonna stop Mayweather ??? ::** ;D Yeah ok ;D

This is sub-moronic. Shane has never scored a meaningful KO at 147 or higher (and for the grace of God, please don't mention Mr. brain damaged Vargas:)

if oscar had shanes work rate he would have beaten floyd...those slow punches that oscar threw and missed land if shane throws them...and he'd beat up the body much more accurately than oscar....shane beats floyd..and if it ever happens you'll all see...perhaps after shane kayos the winner of cotto judah the fight will happen
