I think it was a good fight. I had it even in the 10th. DLH's lack of stamina caused him again in the last 2 rounds.
I give it an 8. Good not great.
What do you think.

It was better than a lot of other hype fights I have seen. I expected something less from Floyd. Credit to Oscar for blocking all those punches. Something no other fighter has been able to do against Mayweather Jr. Oscar came out of this fight unscaved. His defense and his hand speed is still pretty good. Stamina is the issue.
Oscar is no Gatti and Floyd is no Mayorga. Neither fighter was totaly dominate. Good tactical fight. I guess I can give it a 7 maybe an 8.
Good fight, but a great event. For action, 6/10... for boxing, 10/10.
Two master boxers at the top of their game. Oscar cut off the ring very well, but Floyd seemed to deflect most of his shots along the ropes. Oscar's defence was great too, he caught a lot of Floyd's shots on his gloves and forearms.
It was nip & tuck until the 10th, then Floyd opened up when he sensed Oscar was tiring. Oscar was fighting in short combination spurts, while Floyd was more consistently picking single shots.
The decision was the right one in my opinion, but like I said in another thread... I would never have begrudged Oscar a victory either. Close fight! 8)
Boxing needed an event like that!
Good topic Rookie, and I'm sure I can spare you a CC.
Personally I thought it was very absorbing, and although it didn't get into the real Mexican style that Mayweather's fancy dress would suggest, I still enjoyed it and will probably watch it again when I get a minute.
Personally, I'd rate it as an 8. Good entertainment, and no suggestion of a letdown as it could have been.
I'll give it a 7.5. It was a great boxing match between two HOFers. It was 12 times better then ODLH vs B-Hop, I can tell you that much. Floyd landed some really hard punches on ODLH, I was surprised because ODLH didn't really look like he hit harder than Floyd. When Floyd actually sat down on his shots, they looked hard as hell. ODLH gassed out and mentally went away from his gameplan, he should blame himself for losing that fight. The SD was disappointing. Floyd adjusted, Oscar didn't, plain and simple. Roach told Oscar to jab and he didn't. A rematch isn't really needed. Oscar should try and avenge the loss that really hurt his legacy (Trinidad) and Floyd should take on Hatton, Cotto, and Mosley.
i give it a 5. as much as I love boxing the fight was disappointing for me. I though floyd won, but these chess matches are boring. They both fought scared and did very little. I wish they would change the name of the sport to Fighting instead of Boxing.
Thanks my man. Would give you a CC back if I could. Will have to make a few more posts for that. HAHA but you are spot on it was very much absorbing and my hart was pumping all the way. Too bad Oscar ran out of gas at the end.Quote:

You could tell Oscar wanted to make the fight at least be a little of the something I think he hoped it would be. The problem was floyd just plain doesn't care to entertain, he will just simply win in his tried and true manner which isn't very pleasing to a lot of fans, but is pleasing to his pocket book.
I'd give it a 6 or a 7, it was a good fight but not a great one. It was easy to watch, but I agree with those who say both men, particularily Floyd, looked a bit tentative or scared.
an 8 seems like a great number it was one of those rare fights that had my adrenaline pumping and it felt like i was mentally slowing down the fight to watch the whole thing in detail. Pretty good action i don't think it dissapointed and the ending decision was right.
i thought it was a pretty decent fight. i was nervous and excited the whole time.
i give it a 7 or 8
I give it a 6. Not a great fight, actually better than I thought it was going to be. I just don't find Floyd's fights that exciting. But this was a dramatic fight. I scored it 115-114 for Floyd. I hope he does not retire and fights the likes of Mosely, Margarito, or Cotto.
i give it a 6 i swear there where times when i could of heard a needle drop. I give it up to oscar he carried the fight he brought the excitement and the noise from the crowd, but once again floyd wins.
I give it a 9 it wasnt as much a brawl but was a awesome display of boxing from both fighters I loved this fight because every round was tense and if one of them slipped up for a second they could get into trouble.
It was oscar's fight for the taking, but he refused to punch enough. Every time oscar swarmed floyd on the ropes, it worked somewhat. he just didn't throw enough punches. Maybe mayweather is just too hard to hit?
I give Oscar a 7 or 8 for his effort and Floyd a 10. Floyd outboxed a bigger guy and still won. Give him credit. He beat the bigger guy, something Oscar did not do with Hopkins. As for the fight getting a 1-10 rating?? 8
if it was for the blatant robery i say like a 7.9, but cuz of the roberey i say a 2
this fight suked asshole, balls, and everything in between. i give it 2;it didnt live up to its hype
Little harsh aren't ya?Quote:

Any fan of either fighter had a good time.
Go watch street fights on youtube or something if that's what you're into.
6.5, technically excellent and great boxing skills - as I've said in another post I wanted something a bit more conclusive
Don't think we were ever going to get a stoppage were we with these two :-\

This wasnt just because like you said it was really awesome watching two great boxing masters go at it and with the combined personalities and celebrity-like excitement brought to this match (i dont know about you guys but delahoya fights usually bring some pretty fine lookin girls by the pad and this was no exception...it was even multiplied because Floyd has a lot of female fans too...so there was a bigger and more diverse boxing crowd than normal at the house, which added to the fun/excitement of the match; instead of just a bunch of drunken yelling guys we had a bunch of screaming drunken girls too so this was a good time beyond just your average boxing match. Gotta thank God for boobs.
Floyd, if he stays, should look to take on Cotto only if he wins against Zab and Hatton if he beats Castillo. Both of them really have to prove themselves to be worthy of being on his radar right now. I think the only fight right now for Floyd if he does not decide to retire is against Sugar Shane Mosley...
Now I guess we wait to see if Floyd retires.
Mayweather 6, for turning up , nothing new though no guts just his usual ring perminter defence and potshottingfrom the outside .
Oscar 7 , made the fight initiated all the attacks backed up the young man , stamina let him down .
Fight 8 , not so good when you watch a second time round it was more about the event Oscar bought some guts and genuine intent , Mayweather just wanted to Foil Oscar and just do enough .
Not enough from Mayweather nowhere near enough after the shit he talked !
The Event was always gonna be bigger than the fight it was like reading a good thriller the conclusion or anything leading upto it was going to better than what actually happened .
the suspense absorbed me throughout but only becuase Oscar showed glimpes of his oldself
I give it a 10 bacause it pulled me rite in i was a bag of nerves till final bell did'nt want Floyd to get caught both gave 100% it was as good as it was ment to be but Floyd deserved a UD
I'll Give It An 8 , Was A Good Fight But I Expected To See Alot Mor Action From Both Of Them . I Pesonally Thought Oscar Won The Fight And Flloyd Only Won 4 Rounds.
So, with only a few exceptions, I see most agree this was a good fight. Though it did not live to the hype, a feat that would have been impossible the way this fight was promoter, the fans got to see some great boxing from two elite fighters. I wonder though if the cassual fan drawn by the event that was this fight was convinced at the end to watch some more fights.
One thing that suprissed me was how good PBF handled DLH's punches because DLH did indeed land 2 - 3 solid shots. But in fact it was DLH who seemed a tad more affected when PBF tagged him.
i give it an 8 out of 10. its was an absorbing bout rather than a classic but was a better fight than i expected.
I have to agree with you bro. I actually felt empty after the fight. What did both men prove. O yes. Both combined are $100 million richer. We all have to ask ourselves if what we saw was good for the sport. I mean I expected a lot for the monies both men earned. Actually, IMO they are probably both OLDH and PBF are l probably aughing all the way to the bank while most of us are still arguing about the fight. I feel cheated really.Quote:

I would also give a 9 to the Bautista fight, that was a very well-contested match-up.
i giv it a 10 ..... when is the last time u seen a good fight between popular fighters? dont compare it to leanord hearns but myweather did try to brawl at some points and didnt do to bad but it was going to win him and even fight and he did what he does best good fight i loved it
5.
Disappointed.
I'd rate the match about a 7, Oscar had plenty of opportunities .. Oscar needed his jab , had he used it more he would have easily won the match , the few times Oscar did let the jab go Floyd would get disrupted and go into a shell. There were several rounds where Oscar was in range but wouldn’t fire off? At times reminiscent of Corrales . a good strong jab can be fired while on the move or standing still so there is no excuse for the "deer in the headlight syndrome“.. ( stamina issues) are a personal problem. Delahoya allowed Mayweather to get off just enough to make it close.
I still felt Oscar won by a narrow margin. Oscar was molesting Mayweather for a good part of the match
:coolclick: # 2.. welcome to the forum . wanted to offset the sad click you got there for respectfully stating your opinion.Quote:

Id give it a 7-8 because Floyd didnt really run for the most part like everyone expected him to. He showed off a lot of his skills and Oscar put on a show in the beginning.
It's a shame they charge $55.00 to see this or any other fight. Just to much money and so many people like myself did not get to see the fight. This hurts boxing not helps it so all the hype that this fight was good for boxing fell short of it's potential.
I wanted DLH to win this fight. To put FMW in his place but DLH I guess didn't keep up his jab and slowed down in the last 2 or so rounds. To bad. Maybe he should have trained harder. DLH says he thought he won the fight and FMW could not explain why his prefight comment about destroying DLH didn't happen. Great boxers and it's a shame that more people didn't get to see it because that would have been good for boxing.

Phenom, what is amazing is that if Pernell boxed a guy he really was out of range of punches so he could not be hit. But Floyd is actually in range alot but does not get hit. His defense is more of a rhythm defense added to his ducking punches in someways. Roy Jones Jr. was offense being defense in someway.. This is almost more impressive, although Roy was impressive in his own way. But about Floyd, he is sometimes right in line for a punch and he cannot be hit. He has a great ability to be in range and not be hit and then swing a good counter, and he was the smaller guy in range of Oscar's punches yet he really was not hit much except a right hand at the end of round 11 which was sort of a punch Oscar got off since Floyd was against the ropes and had no where else to go. I think he has amazing defensive skills -very different from Pernell. In a way more impressive than Pernell in that he is orthodox and leans back and still is not hit clean. He is a mix a Roy Jones, Michael Nunn and Pernell Whitaker with a little Meldrick Taylor and slight James Toney.. I hate to put all those fighters in one. but much more resourceful than Meldrick by far. People have to give him credit. He is good and I am inclined to say great if he does this a few more times. I say forget the rematch and fight Mosley.. Then maybe move back down and show people what he can do with Margarto. I think Margarito is good but people think he can beat Mayweather? Who knows. The right hand would give him an advantage, but something tells me Mayweather would probably find the key around that.Quote:

If I were training a fighter I would tell him to watch Floyd and try to look for the ways he is defensive. He knows when to come in and when to back up and when he can punch and pick his shots. Very nice timing and in a way experience. As much as we say Oscar has experience, Floyd showed alot of experience last night.

Phenom, who said you said anything bad about Floyd?I quoted you in sort of an agreement. I will not quote you again my friend if it bothers you. There are alot of other people in this message area I can quote. :juggle: I just learned how to use the quote feature also, which I am enjoying. Take care.
