Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
Should not be on the mike. Floyd obviously had a lot invested in this fight and seems to have more love for Oscar than his son but he shouldn't be in the spotlight like that cause he had no real role in this fight. But HBO loves drama.Max Kellerman saying that it was a very dominant performance by Mayweather is ridiculous to me and Lampley gets excited about punches landing on the gloves and his excitement is embarrassing to listen to when he calls these punches. Oscar, Floyd, and the fans were the real winners tonight.

Exactly , the last fight was more like an encore first one was the deal deal

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
That was a great fight, and good effort by Hernandez too

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
Why is Max Kellerman even featured on a PPV show? :o

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
If Floyd Sr. wanted reconciliation with his son, I think his comments will just create more distance. I saw Floyd winning a close decision over Oscar. However, I was wishing some more action from Floyd. But, something is what you wish and other what you think is really going to happen. This fight was very similar to what I predicted. Oscar De La Hoya being the aggressor with Floyd using his movements and speed trying to avoid that attack.
This was a good fight of 2 very skilled fighters, but if you know their styles I don't know why some fans were expecting a brutal war between Oscar and Floyd (as the last 10 seconds of the 12). Going back to my previous statement, something is what you wish and other what you think is really going to happen. To have this type of fights you need 2 guys like Trinindad and Vargas in the same ring at the same time, who gave us the gift of one of the best wars of all times at 154 (if not the best).

Hey PRP.... what's up? You're totally correct. I was shocked at how Floyd Sr. actually implied that they could've given the decision to Oscar. If I was Floyd Jr., I'd be pissed as hell.

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
i think mayweather sr had every right to comment on the fight last night. for these reasons.
1. his son who he use to train was fighting.
2. he use to train oscar
3. he's was boxer
i felt like PBF dominated for the most part also. oscar was trying to win round with flurries that weren't landing. so i agree with Max. the crowd kept getting all excited about nothing.
on a side note. who give a shit if usher pdiddy and jack nicolson are at the fight. i don't need to see them.

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
Kellerman was the only one who called it like it was rather than buying into HBO's line of selling this as a great and competitive fight and worthy of a rematch (which, coincidentally, would mean millions and millions of dollars in HBO's pockets). I can't wait until they replace Larry Merchant with Max.
-
Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
everybody kept trying to build this fight like it was going to save boxing. PBF is not entertaining enough to grab the casual fan. if they wanna save boxing and bring back casual fan then they should star hyping up hatton castillo. that fight has the potetional to be a war and give the casual fan a chance to see some good action.

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
".......Max Kellerman saying that it was a very dominant performance by Mayweather..." was the only cogent comment made all night. Lamprey should be tossed and Floyd Sr. is irrelevant.

You are in the minority. Max is not worthy of taking Larry's place. I do not even think he is hardly worthy of holding a microphone. HBO backtracked on replacing Larry with Max lately I think.. They are going to find someone who can at least be up to the level.

Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
Last night Merchant commented on how he didn't know too much about Rocky's opponents as he doesn't follow Argetina boxing all that much. Look, I paid $55 for that idiot to know what he is suppose to know. Argentina has a great and rich tradition in Boxing with many great warriors and any half-a** historian would know that. Merchant is too lazy and senile to bother to research it. Christ, all one has to do for starters is go to Rocky's list of opponents on Box Rec and do some cross-referencing. Just one more reason not to like him. That said, however, and as much as I don't like him, he actuallywas good last night compared to the flip flopping Manny and the bile-inducucing Lamprey who would went apae S*** every time Oscar threw a punch. Someone needs to tell Lamprey that no matter how much perfume you spray ona dog turd, it still smells like a dog turd.

That is exactly what I think.... I can't stand Lampley, he calls punches for the wrong fighter, exaggerates when a punch lands, and speaks matter of factly his own opinion. I feel the same about Kellerman also, certainly not a dominating performance. I think the punch stats were tweaked also, cause ODH slipped alot of punches and I think the compubox guys counted them. Floyd SR. obviously wanted to stay on camera as long as possible. He dragged that first interview as long as he could.
-
Re: Floyd Sr., Max Kellerman, and Jim Lampley
oscar was not slipping punches. he might have caught a couple on the glove but he wasn't slipping them.

He caught a lot more than a couple.
