Mayweather I want my money back!!
After watching the hyped up coverage of 24/7 Floyd did nothing he siad he would do. He said it would be a massacre well it wasn't Mayweather is 1 of the best fighters but he can be boaring at times. Oscar made the fight as good as it was if Oscar didn't push the fight us as fans would've been stearing at two fighters in the ring with NO! action. Watching Mayweather in the amutures to the pros he never wanted to fight never wanted to take a risk that is. He never gives the fans there money worth yea he has alot of zeros in the bank but could have alot more zeros with more action when boxing. There talking about a rematch was the fight good for a second time around? NO!!! it was just a hyped up fight and Oscar can bring that without Mayweather after watching the fight Mayweather didn't prove to me he is POUND 4 POUND you gotta do more to get that TITLE.
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
Lol I know Mayweather I see him at the gym from time to time. he is 1 of my favorite fighters Floyd is 1 of the best but I dont kiss a** I call it how it is. he should've did more.
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
It was a great, exciting, tactical fight with both fighters rising to the occasion.
Floyd stepped up another weight division to fight an outstanding Hall of Fame fighter who was by far the bigger man. Despite being overpowered early he kept his composure, didn't crack and fought back strong in the late rounds to win a close, hard fought decision.
He's not Ivan Drago, you can't expect him to just walk through any fighter because he's the best p4p.
Oscar is one of the top 5 or 6 fighters of the last 15 years and he was in the shape of his life. I doubt there has ever lived a welterweight fighter who would just walk through Oscar De La Hoya, beat him sure but nobody in history would have just walked through him and massacred him like you seem to expect.
Go watch Spiderman 3 if you want to see a superhero.

Word. The only thing I disagree with is that it was a great fight. I'd call it a good fight, but it was no Hagler - Hearns or Corrales - Castillo, or Leonard - Hearns etc. fights like like are what I consider great.
Edit : I should add that I agree with No Contest, a fight doesn't have to be a complete blood bath to be a great fight; I hate it when people disregard fights just because someone wasn't carted off to the glue factory afterwards.
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
Seems like alot of fans favor the fights where someone is half dead at the end. Just because you paid $50 bucks someone has to get brutalized? Alot of you guys would enjoy MMA it seems to me, boxing is a sweet science and thats what we saw last night.

Well, if you paid the $55 dollars and honestly expected some kind of war in the main event... You deserve to have lost your money. Anyone with a little boxing knowledge should have expected a tactical fight, and should have enjoyed what they saw for the most part, imo.
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
it was an ok fight, but the talk about this being great for boxing and its suppose to save boxing is just bullshyt ;D
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
I agree...mayweather did nothing he said he would do and De La Hoya did everything he could do!...Mayweather was far too negative to have taken the decision and although De La Hoya tired in the last 3 rounds mayweather still didnt go on the offensive and take a risk....which is what all the greats in history have done and mayweather has eyt to!
Would be a shame to see him retire after this fight...would like to see what he really can do

You obviously don't understand the concept that you don't always fight fire with fire. If a guy who hits way harder than you, and that has a good chin along with him being willing to take a shot to land one, then you have to do something else.. like play defensive. That was the only option Mayweather had, and still he didn't run all that much.
Re: Mayweather I want my money back!!
If you wanted to see a war you got one in the Bautista-Medina fight at the beginning of the broadcast but you were foolish to expect a toe-to-toe sluggfest in the main event. Oscar followed his plan and Floyd followed his and it was a very exciting boxing match with plenty of skill and technical boxing to enjoy.

I too wanted to see a "massacre" as Floyd claimed it would be. A prime Roy Jones could have and would have done just that to any version of Oscar, however I knew in my heart that a prime Floyd was not going to. He did beat Oscar legit though, no question about it, which is good enough for me. Oh, and I am going to see Spiderman 3, probably tomorrow, looks to be pretty good, plus I got nothin better to do, and it'll help take my mind of things.

Depends on your definition of great fight. It certainly didnt have the level of excitement that the fights you mentioned had but it was most certainly entertaining and showed some great boxing by two masters of the game. I thought the size difference lent some drama to the match up too, at times Oscar looked a lot bigger. But this was a fun and interesting fight to watch. I had a lot of friends over and it was good times. No one booed (except when they announced Marc Anthony would be singing the National Anthem) and even the casual boxing fans and some of the females present were completely glued to the set for the duration of this match. I dont think it warrants a rematch but I do think it warrants some credit for Floyd! He beat one of if not THE greatest fighter of our generation with relative ease. Like it or not, that is no easy task, even at this point in Golden Boy's career. Give the p4p champ a lil more respect people, he's a smaller pound for pounder than you maybe used to...as was said before he's not gonna walk through people and have them collapse when he touches him just because he is the p4p champ. What that means is boxing skill wise if everyone was the same weight, Floyd would whip they're asses. And he would. Just not all of em by knockout.
