Floyd proved that he's got Cajones!!!

Love him or hate him you have got to give it up to lil Floyd. The little bastard came into the fight like his uncle used to with a Sombrero and his trunks were Mexican colors. That shat made me laugh and was gutsy. But more importantly than his entrance was the way Floyd fought. He came forward much more than people thought he would and dared Oscar to hit him much of the fight. Then at the end he went toe to toe with the Golden boy and did not even get wobbled. I think the sucker showed some courage on cinco de mayo and for sure won the fight. :appl:

WHO IS MAS MACHO?

Yeah. Floyd ran a bit in the Baldomir fight but he doesn't normally run. In fact if anything he is a flat footed fighter who stands his ground. Of course he isn't going to fight stupid, I've heard him criticized for backing up from the jab, ridiculous.

Lowell Cohn wrote today that both fighters proved to be courageous and that Mayweather proved to be one of the most skilled fighters in the history of the science. So true.

The two proved you don't have to be Gatti with his hands down on the ropes to make for a very entertaining fight. Loved every second of it. I think the hug at the end was symbolic of the fight.

I think both men were macho. They put on a pretty good fight that inevitably couldn't live up to the fight. I cannot stand Oscar, but aside from his post fight tantrum he fought like a proud champion, and had a very good gameplan. Both guys were thinking in there and it made for a smart, entertaining, close fight. Props to both guys the way I see it. Good fight, not great, but good. :)

How would have Oscar won? He was never ahead in the fight? Mayweather would have stepped it up eventually... he was planning for Oscar wear himself out... it was obvious in him allowing Oscar to throw so many combinations, and Floyd not using as much footwork. If he wanted he could have just boxed from the outside all night, but instead he let Oscar tire himself out missing him(Floyd).

Agree. We missed plenty of corner talk but from what I did hear they essentially told mayweather to wait till oscar gassed.

It's one of the annoying things on british coverage they either go to a commercial or talk all over the corner but yep I heard it, I think between rounds 4-5 when floyd then came out and went looking to put some power in his shots.

Floyd didn't RUN. Lots of folks said he would, well he didn't. Now I'm not sayin he went to war, cus he didn't, but he came forward quite a bit, let Oscar tee off on his ribs with those left hooks against the ropes a la Ali vs Chuvalo, and showed GUTS in the fight.

CC. Both did fight very well. But honestly the way I saw it, it could not have gone either way. Floyd won the fight for sure, not by a land slide or nothin, but 116-112 was fair in my book.

Yeah Floyd won a huge part of me over in that fight.
Just becuase of the fact that we hasn't as half as negative as i thought he would be.

Of cousre some of his attiude in that fight was brought on by Oscars ability to close him down but still, its all a test of character.

I nearly ripped the fellar's arm clean outta socket that was sitting beside me. He too loved the fight...as did most of the people that were there to see a good fight & not project the massive amounts of bitter bullshit.

The fight did just what it was supposed to & it was indeed a great night for boxing.
