Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
Do yall really like ODLH?
I'm in Houston (very heavy Mexican population) and I distinctly remember being in middle school around the Chavez fight and my friends families rooting for Chavez and cursing at ODLH for beating up an old Chavez. Then I remember him fighting Trinidad when I was in high school. I missed the fight and came to school that Monday and all my Mexican friends told me that the fight was a rip off and that it was boring. Then I remember being in college during the Vargas fight and my friend's dad told me that Oscar was a white boy and that he'd had a kid with some blonde Miss USA. I remember laughing my ass off because I thought he was lying about the white girl and he kept calling Oscar a gringo and saying that Vargas was gonna bust that ass. Little did he know that Vargas would get KTFO. Now I'm watching the Mayweather fight remembering the past yet seeing all this support for ODLH and I think to myself: Do the Mexicans really like ODLH or do they just support him now because he's a high profile Mexican and they feel obligated to?

8) Talking for myself I gave Oscar his props after he beat Gonzalez! What a jab no I wasn't a fan I went against him with Chavez against him with Ruelas as well as Hernandez because he would have them put on weight to fight him for their belts and they all did it for the money. He never fought Kosta Tszyu as he was saying he would either.

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
I am not a ODLH fan.
Women are more down with Oscar than the guys.
I have never rooted for Oscar until last night.
I should not be obligated to like a fighter becuase of their race or skin color.
Cotto is not Mexican and I root for him :)
I don't know why I don't like Oscar. He is a good role model.
He is polite and well spoken. He stays out of trouble.
He markets himself well.
Again, I have no clue why I don't like him. I just don't.

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
I'm not a 100% Mexican but ...... let me give u my 2 cents... I've always been on his side... I remember when he fought Chavez ( 1st fght) I was among a crowd of 30 people ( mexicans) and I was the only one cheering for De La Hoya.... I feel that he deserves to be where he is..... ;)

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
Is it a Mexican Macho thing ?
I have never been massive on Oscar but one night i sat downon youtube and watched his fights all night and remembered all the times i stayed up late to watch him and i remember thinking , fuck he has had some great fights and been a massive plus for boxing .
He was a little bit too cleancut for alot of people who like their macho men but look at his career from the Gold Medal to now he has got to be regarded as an inspiration for all fighter for forging his own path , remember alot of fighters got exposure and money they'd never have gotten not fighting Oscar .
I think for a lotof Fans it was his not taking Boxing seriously and going off to record his own Album that finally down for him in alot of peoples eyes .
Remember him for that last round against Quartey , the Left hook and uppercut that stopped Chavez, the Mosely war , the Aniticpation forthe Tito fight , Knocking Vargas out and Marorga .
I don't think he is a little bit of an introvert but a heck of a fighter when the camera is constantly on you it's hard not to make mistake and he's made pretty few , if your raising kids you say , Son thats how you deal with Aggression - Oscar style and then show him a video of the Vargas fight .

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
he beat up on mexicans and latinos, paez, chicanito, ruelas, vargas, chavez, mayorgas, etc... but lost to mosley, trinidad, hopkins, mayweather. see a pattern, the mex assasin role taught by the mayweathers. this past saturday some mex women wanted oscar to get KTFO just because 'he looks gay'- just quoting them.
the sight of chavez bleeding while on his stool and oscar running around all happy didnt help him in gaining mex fans.

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
8) I think it started a long time ago because I feel the same way and have for years just wanted to see him get beat. When I started giving him a little bit of credit is when he fought Migual Angle Gonzalez I had never seen a jab like that since I was a kid watching Willie Pep. I dont know why he still doest shoot it like that maybe he cant I dont no. But yea at the start they were feeding him fish and dodgeing the better fighters until they got older then he fought them. And alot of the raza saw that! 8)

Re: Saddo Mexicans, help me out...
My Mexican half, says Oscar is great, he has done wonders for the sport, he has been in some great fights. He has moved up in weight and looked comfortable doing so. He is well-spoken and the argument could be made that he holds the sports future in his hands.
My White half (big into conspiracy theory mind you) says Oscar is a shrewd business man and is headed down the path of King, Warren and Arum. The money is starting to corrupt him and eventually will blind him as he becomes one of "them" the "others"
(Lost reference for those that didn't catch that.)
So I'm very Gemini about my feelings for Oscar.
