You're right. He should've came out and said, "Come May 5th, I'm gonna beat Oscar by a split decision! Y'all wait and see!"
How dare he not realize there are people who hang on his every last word to the most literal extent.
I'm sorry if you feel cheated. How dare he lie to you.
But don't you worry, I'm here for you in your time of need.
Let the healing begin.
I reserve the right to bitch all I want about anything I desire. I don't do it often, and I don't participate in all the threads about who's the best p4p crap anyway. I don't believe in the p4p crap for anyone.
See I look at this from a business standpoint. I am in business, I have to sell things to make a living, and if I lied intentionally to make more sales, I would not get praised for it and be called a "smart businessman"??? However many people here think Floyd lying about how he's gonna fight is "smart" and good business. He did it two fights in a row. I never expected him to allow the other guy to hit him, but he could have been alot more offensive in both fights. The deal is I half believed that Floyd had enough anger, and since this is his "last fight" he would come out and put on a career defining performance. One that there would be an HBO Legendary Nights episode about. There probably will be one, but not because Floyd left it all in the ring.
I just don't think he earned that big paycheck. I think he cheated to get it, and the thing is he probably could have earned it and made alot of fans if he showed something. He didn't, so he gets no respect from me, and I will bitch for a few days. If you don't like it then don't read my post and worry about defending the honor of poor little Floyd.... Unless your on his payroll, then by all means do what you get paid to do, and EARN YOUR PAYCHECK!!!
There's a difference between a lie and a prediction!!!
Floyd may very well have had every intention of "massacre" ing Oscar.
But when he got in that ring he used the best gameplan to win that fight and win the fight he did.
Boxers say what they say it isnt like Floyd knew he wasn't going to.
HE said he would embarass Gatti and massacre him and guess what, he did.
Not the same level as oscar and rightfully so.
But Floyd may have meant every single word he said at the time he said it but when he got in the ring he decided to do exactly what would get him the victory.
Sure he could have went to the body more and dont this or that to really put it on Oscar but Oscar could have done a lot more too so don't blame Floyd.
He delivered, he won the fight and Oscar didnt.
I guess you want fighters to be 100 percent honest?
Lets see
The press conference for the Oscar Floyd fights
NEW ON 24/7
Floyd: I'm going to box safely and pick off his shots and roll with the punches but I'm really not going to be as active as I should but he's really not going to do that much about it.
Oscar: That's absolutely right, I'm going to stalk him and throw flurries in the last 30 seconds hoping I can get a decision. Did I mention there's a really crappy undercard that this whole series has been ignoring?
Floyd: Right you are Oscar.. right you are!!
How about the Spinks Taylor conference
Spinks: I'm a 154 pounder, I have no power, I just have speed, I'm a distance fighter, and with his jab he should pick me off all night, thank you..
Taylor: Yeah, I keep on finding a way to avoid my mandatories just to get fights like this because I keep wanting to get a knockout so I picked someone perfect. Did I mention that this script that Dibella wrote for me to say is really swell. I hope you enjoy the fight, it will be a waste of time, thank you.
Reporter: And now over to Joe Calzaghe.>
Calzaghe: I'M NOT FIGHTING KESSLER DAMNIT!!!!!
;D
