Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
influential Japanese boxing man and prominent business leader Akihiko Honda that Valero, who has been living in Japan, said Valero would fight Pacquiao next.Honda promotes the undefeated 25-year-old southpaw Valero.
Months ago, Golden Boy Promotions vice president Eric Gomez told Viva Sports/Standard Today that Valero will have to pass a medical test in the US before he is cleared to fight, following a nasty motorcycle accident several years ago.
At the same time, Gomez said Golden Boy has Valero under contract for fights in the US.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
i could of sworn ARUM promoted EV tho?
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I would love to see that fight.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Pac-man would destroy Ev, it would be Hamed-Barrera all over again. Only Difference being pac would Ko him.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I dunno yeno, I give EV a chance. He can't stop knocking people out.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
This is one of those cases where a young fighter (that has been fighting low level oppenets and knocking them out), goes after the baddest and best around but miserably gets expose.
Pacman by knock out 5th round, then hopefully we can move on to a Real fight between pac and jmm the rematch.

Arum promotes guzman, i remember before pac resigned with arum, there were talksa bout arum getting pac and guzman together for a fight, but i guess it never develop.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Hope this doesn;t happen, too early for EV, he's got a bright future but he has only had one decent opponent thus far and to put him in with the pacman is career suicide at this point.

Nope, from what I know and have read. Valero is certainly not promoted by Arum and Guzman is promoted by Golden Boy/Sycuan Promotions.I can post a link if you like.

Pac would probably beat Valero but I'd bet anyone on this forum that Valero would hurt Pac. Valero is going to get better and better and the only style that would expose him would be that of a slick boxer, certainly not Pac's style. El Inca is bigger than Pac,hits harder and would counter Manny on the way in. Manny would eventually overwhelm him and win but Valero would give him problems for sure. I don't want to see this fight yet,Valero is still too raw.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Not see much of Valero heard he is banger but i think he is bit too green and shouldn't fight Pac yet.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
He prob shoudln't fight him yet, but I think it'd be an exciting fight.

Absolutley. Valero gives Manny all he can handle before being taken out.

You are spot on. Let Valero fight some more before he "steps up" too high.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
i agree he needs to fight more fighters first before he faces pac, pac would just have too much for him at this moment in time.

Don't do it Edwin your gonna get stomped, overwhelmed and just flat out beat by Pac. I don't care how hard you hit, you more then loose the battle in skills alone, theres a HUGE gap between the fighters you've fought and Pac. IMO Edwin should take on someone like Barrios or Baloyi. Not Pac just yet.
Thats just my :twocents:
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I want to see this VERY bad. I want to see it more then I do Pac - JMM, can you picture a crazier style matchup? Can you think of any other guy that Pac can fight and be the more disciplined guy? This is such an insane style matchup. Pac wins imo, but he gets rocked imo and Valero is more then capable of getting him out of there if he's hurt.
-

Agreed. Manny is a whirlwind. In the Grand Finale he reminded me of the Tasmanian Devil. Now, I cannot think of Pacman with imaging all those weird noises Taz makes as he spins round and round.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
How long are they going to hold this bout. It seems likely months ago. I remember Pac-MAB, I thought to myself not yet Manny MAB's too great. But it turned out to be his ticket to fame. The same can be said here PAC the best at his division right now and without a title(WOW!) much like MAB when they fought and invisible title on the Line "People's Champ" much more valuable I believe. But the outcome i believe would be different it would provide fireworks but in the end Pac would own Valero.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Yes a fight I would like to see ;D ;D
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Wasnt it not that long ago everyone was saying pac was to raw to fight the likes of mab, morales and co. Look how he turned out. Same could happen with valero......

yea pac knock out ladwaba a masterful boxer, and jolio. pac knock out a few guys in the u.s before he got to mab. he had that fight with sanchez that ended up a draw though but it should of been a win for pac, pac got hit with every illegal blows in that fight but kept fighting.
theres a big differents between the pac then and valero now. pac already knock out quality guys even back then still more then valero now so you can't compare the two.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Let Valero face defeat so he will be able to realize how bad his opponents were.If he wins then it will be all glory for him.Let the fight begin.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Although i would love to see this fight, it would not really solidify Pacman's claim on P4P #1. Also, it is a non-title fight so I think he is a match-up loser here. Big monies should be a JMM fight. Time is on the side of Pacman being the younger of the two. If he wins he earns a title and big monies. Why waste the little time he has with Valero (although Valero is exciting, what can he bring to the table - no title, less money). Smart money is a Pacman-JMM fight. It could solidify a HOF status for both fighters as well.

Edwin Valero is the current WBA Super Featherweight champ.
But in my opinion Pac-JMM should be the best match. The draw should be settled once and for all.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
The thing is, for Valero to fight the way he does, a style like his needs a base of good fundamentals, if any joe bloggs of the street just threw bombs like he does they'd get sparked but Valero is a really good counter puncher, some of the stuff he does in sparring is incredible, he's made Erik Morales look silly in sparring. You can't fight like he does without being sound as a proper boxer. Saying that, in his fights he's looked a bit vunerable and easy to hit recently, but maybe that's because he's been a lot better than his opponent and got a bit careless. The jury is still out on Valero but you can't just count him out when we haven't seen him in with a top fighter.

Thanks for the correction :). What is the WBA by the way? hehe joke
Thanks to for agreeing with me that a Pac-JMM fight is the best fight for both.

He doesn't have any claim on P4P #1. He would need to face Floyd at 147 for that. It's not unreasonable--they weighed nearly the same amount in their last fights. But if that fight ever happened, you'd see just how far Pac is from the #1 spot.
He should fight Marquez next. That one would be competitive and it's hard to pick a winner. It's very easy to pick Pac in a fight against Valero.

True. There is a title for Pacman if he beats Valero. For the sake of title, let Pacman vs valero happen.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I'd like to see these two fight but not just yet. Maybe Mzonke Fana or Humberto Soto would be next opponent for Valero. Work his way through a couple of top contenders then make a move on Pacquiao!
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Unless MAB and JMM are rematching, Pac should fight JMM. If Pac don't plan on fighting JMM, he should go to lightweight. I'd like to see him fight Cassamyoer.

Your welcome. WBA is a legit title too but I'd rather see Pac-JMM beacuse its more of a greater match-up. They both posses better resume against world class oppositions than Valero. WBC is on the line and for sure this will make one legendary fight. GBP and Top Rank should make this happen or else it would be too late! dam.

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I agree JMM vs. Pac is a better fight. I like Valero and can see him going far. He could probably fight someone like Juarez (although he's dropped down to Featherweight) in what I would see as a legit challenge for both men to step up to the real big time.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
right! though i think pac can lose to jmm, but that is a fight all of us will enjoy.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
its funny how there use to be so many people talking about how valero would beat pac, but now for some reason those oppinions have vanish. :D

Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Yup kinda reminiscent of how Pac entered the limelight ...... Oh I forgot Pac is the the second coming of Jesus Christ

ACTUALLY PAC HAS BEATEN WAY BETTER OPPENENT THEN Has VALERO BEFORE PAC MADE A NAME FOR HIMSELF BY BEATING MAB, pac beat ladwaba jolio and should of beat sanhez too, who has valero beaten? SO NO ITS NOT REMINISCENT OF HOW PAC ENTERED THE LIMELIGHT, HE ACTUALLY ENTERED UNDER THE LEWIS TYSON UNDERCARD ;) nothing valero has come close too so yea...
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
Valero doesn't move his head that much. Great target for Pac.
-
Re: Edwin Valero Rumored as Next for Pacquiao
I think Valero can hurt Pac and it will be interesting if turns into a macho man contest because if they try to outgun eachother early on Valero has a great chance. Could be similar to Cotto vs Torres.....hope so anyway because that was a great fight.

yea cotto vs torres was great, i like both fighters now, but during that fight i didn't really know who torres was but then after a few rounds into the fight i was rooting for torres. It was a good fight i hope torres boxing career rises up like cottos and then they can rematch when both are big stars.
