**Alright…before anyone get’s into this long read…this thing was hammered out when I was really hammered & it really aint that great of a read…but it is what it is. I know it’s late…but again…I figured everyone was all talked out.

The HBO PPV Replay is coming on Saturday night…so let’s see how close my drunken coverage was.

WACKO'S DRUNKEN WEEKEND IN VEGAS

Throughout one’s life as a boxing fan he or she will make certain sacrifices…sometimes out of stupidity, sometimes out of loyalty for his or her favorite fighter, or sometimes just for the sake of boxing in general.

Being quite honest with you my, fellow boxing enthusiasts, it’d be hard for this me…this die hard fan…to put his finger on one particular reason that I quite literally busted the bank and sold my soul to make it to the match that the whole World had been Awaiting…or so it has been sold to us all.

Maybe it was stupidity, maybe it was loyalty, maybe it was for the sake of boxing in general…but in the end this writer’s gonna have to say that it was all of the above and the oh so sweet call of lady luck herself. Yes siree boys and girls, while I have to admit that the salivating match up of Floyd Mayweather jr. being pushed shoulder to shoulder around a square circle by Oscar de la Hoya for twelve rounds was enough to break the bank, Las Vegas, Nevada played a huge role in drawing me away from my everyday responsibilities.

Personally…critics be damned…I say that it was worth it…& I aint even in my fwockin seat yet!

For those of you who have never seen the dirty side of Vegas, up close and personal, well you haven‘t lived a full life my friends or as they say in so many poorly scripted cop drama’s…”You‘ve yet to get your hands dirty.”

While most articles you’ll be scanning through, after the fact, will be dedicated to the fight itself…this aint gonna be one of them…at least not 100%. You see…this was being sold as the fight of the decade…maybe even the century…so press credentials were basically impossible to come by for yee ole‘ Wack.

This isn’t to the point coverage…so either you sit back and relax and you take in merely a drunken fan’s word for it all…or you just click your mouse, skip this post, and change the browser because this is a run down of Wacko’s Drunken Weekend in Vegas.

Not so much an article…or even a professional write up…but more…an accounting of what happened when, why, & how & the standard hammer type of Wacko’s Drunken Round by Round.

Our night begins in Charlotte, North Carolina in a local Sushi bar as we pass the time waiting for the morning to arrive and a long long flight to the last weigh in & presser before the match. Seven pots of Saki later and a boatload of raw fish…wer’e off to another restless nights sleep prior to the event.

Much to my dismay the airport put the ole’ kibosh on this writer and wannabe photographer from making it to the public weigh in which should happen around 2 p.m. in the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday. A minor storm scuffles the flights & delays us in just an hour’s worth of time…we miss the weigh in & pass off about $125 worth of quarters at the slot machine.

My daddy always said that anything that backs itself up against a wall & takes on the world is an unbeatable machine & only a fool would challenge it…he’d be right…but again…it’s only quarters…& what else does the drunken one have to do?

Due to the delays…a disturbing chain of events that leads up to me missing the weigh in…it just so happens that Wacko & the wife have plans to head on over to the local multi-plex cinema and catch the premier of Spiderman III. Look…I aint one to lie…honestly…I’m much more thrilled about watching the ole’ web head duke it out against the Sandman, Venom, and Harry Osbourne…aka the Green Goblin II than stand in the heat sober waiting on Floyd & Oscar rehash the HBO 24/7 special. Been there…fwockin done that..

So…what’s done is done. We missed the weigh in, fly the flight, & after a lot of hustle and bustle over me lugging a mega bag onto the plane stuffed with Wacko’s trusty lap top, the new Cannon, and all the clothes that can be stuffed into one bag…we’ve landed…skipped seating through Spidey III, adjusted to the Vegas cab rides & combative human beings courtesy of a shitload of free liquor on the plane & at the quarter machines…whom I might add have already owned my a** due to my bitterness over the fact that no professional electronic devises are allowed into the fight.

So…what does one do when he or she has cashed his a** out on a $2,000+ ticket for a fight, a plane ticket, & a no camera…no $1500+ camera & $225 dollar hands free recording equipement can’t be used?

Well…he eats about $125 worth of raw fish on the first days arrival…plans a weekend trip & pisses the wife off…so…off we go.

I’m not sure if anyone out there is as “monetarily retarded” as Wacko over a match up…but this may very well be the greatest fight of the last ten years…or the biggest bust of the last ten. We shall see.

Yeah…so anywho…the ride, cash/liquor flow, & thrills of the rollercoaster ride that is Las Vegas coupled with thoughts of the outcome of this match up is keeping me from sleepin…so off to the slots we go & all the free booze I can handle…& it was a lot. Woke up Saturday & rolled outta the bed in the lavish accomodations of the MGM Grand Signature Suites. First & foremost…if you go to Vegas…I recommend this place the fullest. Amazing. Nice balcony views, booty bumpin’ hot tub, fridge, plasma screen in both the bed & bath…no S***…it was heaven.

Saturday night is just around the corner.

As cliché as it sounds…the stirp is bustling with the electricity of the fight. No S***. Really. Evetryone seems to be on the waiting edge of the fight. The sports bookies are bankin on Oscar & the odds have shifted a bit more in his favor. The Mexican American crowd is a bit overly combative, IWO, in hopes that Oscar pulls this one out. The African American crowd is pushing so much bling & bullshit that one wonders how many fights will breakout during the fight.

Only an hour away to see.

After heading over & watching dolphins & lions & no bears (oh my!) at the MGM Secret Garden the wife & I drop some more cash at the slots & ole’ Wacko plans on hedging a bet on Floyd. As I head over to do so…there’s a rumor circulating around that Floyd is coming in with the Mexican flag or some S*** like that & that Oscar has stated hill will stop Floyd in 6 rounds or less.

With that little tid bit of info…I tuck my balls & skip on placing a bet on Floyd or Oscar & haul a** over to the grand & plop down early for the fights. It’s amazing as hell…but the magnitude of this match just won’t be done justice on PPV television…I can not stress the fact that I’m overly thrilled as S*** that I came. It’s already been worth every penny no matter who does what to whom & I aint even seen that yet.

Much to my utter joy & surprise…I exchange the digital audio recorder with my cell phone & tuck it into my shorts. It’s plastic & when they wand me…the only thing that beeps is my belt…thanks to the lord above…they let me walk through. On go the headphones & the DRBR is going to be in full session.

Second times a charm as the joy & surprise-ometer goes offa the charts!!! These fwockers are servin liquor up top instead of just beers…I purchase 2 doubles, a $30 program, a $35 dollar hat, & 4 $25 shirts & head to my seat.

Unfortunately…I was pretty much sloshed coming into the arena…so the double Margaritas make it a bit difficult for my drunken a** to come together like butt cheeks & find the correct seat. After being bumped twice by annoyed patrons…I finally locate my row & again…much to my utter joy & surprise…I’m about 8 rows back from the ring.

No joke…even though I’m disgusted that I couldn’t take in a camera I‘m thrilled shitless just to have my hands free recorder & be a part of history…& it is a glorious experience in the making. Wacko‘s proud to be here…even though I almost had to sell my liver to get this seat…& it‘s a good thing that I didn‘t sell the ole‘ liver…because I‘ve almost drank it bloody.

Anywho…the scope & magnitude of the promotion is bordering on nearly unbelievable. Looking back over me drunken shoulders…I can see that even the nose bleed seats are starting to fill up & I am bottle tossing distance of the ring with a b-e-a-utiful view from the floor.

Again…worth every amount of cash that I dropped.

The under card plays out just fine.

The Boom Boom fight was fantastic & the Juarez fight was so-so. For some reason…I just can’t get behind Rocky…& I don’t mean get behind him in a CuteMick kind of way. Juarez, he dropped his man in the first & then let him off the hook for the duration.

Sitting in the crowd I was located between a large crowd of Latino’s & an even larger number of African Americans.

Now…before you go any further with this read…I want to say this…I’m no racist…& I have never said anything like this before…but last night…I was DISGUSTED with the Mexican fight fans. Number one…when the first match began it was apparent that the majority of them knew NOTHING about boxing. Between them throwing racial slurs towards the people in front of me of my cursing & spilling beer all over every gotdam thing that I owned…I really wanted to just get up & walk out.

While discussing Floyd prior to his arrival…I heard the N-bomb more times than I heard them use the F-bomb…& believe me…they blew the joint up with both of them all night long. Even their spouses/women grew tired of it…but you can only imagine that it was on when Floyd walked in with the sombrero & Mexican colors.

Addressing that…anyone that doesn’t believe that he & Oscar put that S*** together…your’e fooling yourselves. Floyd’s people did that in the past & it got the same gut reactions from the crowd. That was the selling point of the show & whether Latino fans want to admit…Floyd did the colors justice.

Never did Floyd not stand & fight…& for that…I once again stamp in bold letters my dedication as a FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR FAN.

Now…that being said…honestly…I was disappointed in Oscar after the 5th round on. While he landed the here & there bomb…he ate more of Floyd’s right hook than he threw his own jab. Oscar could have gamely controlled Floyd had he used his jab but after the middle rounds he had no answer for Floyds speed & defense. Honestly…I was shocked that Floyd hurt Oscar as many times as he did & Floyd’s punches sounded incredibly thud dish from the ring.

It was a great fight & fantastic outside of all the racial slander that I had to deal with & the biggest bullshit phrase of the night was that “Those colors don‘t run & neither should you if your‘e gonna wear them.” Boxing doesn’t equate to running…& Floyd Mayweather did not run.

So…here’s the fight…the way I saw it from the floor up.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 1:
The bell rings & Floyd does something that I would have never expected…he meets Oscar in the center of the ring with a left hand & my a** leaves my seat quick fast & in a hurry. Right hand cracks on point dead to Oscar’s chin. Holy S***…this is gonna be a fight. Oscar get’s right down to business & backs Floyd up with a left hook & then begins the famous flurrying. Floyd begins jabbing & using the ring. Oscar better start using his feet or he’ll be chasing Floyd around the square all night long.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 2:
Nice jabs from Oscar to start the action. Big right hook from Oscar & Floyd goes back to the ropes & Oscar jumps right on him. As Oscar again unloads…it’s pretty obvious that the flurries against the ropes are the way that Oscar’s gonna go. As expected…Floyd slips most of it…but the crowd didn‘t think so. They cheer & rise to their feets & I wear my first glass of beer of the evening. Left right combination from Oscar. Once again Floyd‘s back is against the ropes & once again…flurries. Oscar starts using his size against Floyd…but surprisingly…Floyd uses it against him & cracks him back. This is a better round for Oscar…but the majority of Oscar’s shots are coming on the ropes in bunches of punches that are catching Floyd’s gloves, shoulders, & fore arms. I would imagine that the judges are scoring those along with the push & drive of the pro Oscar crowd…surely people are not this ignorant?

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 3:
Oscar comes in hard with left & right hooks. Body shots are coming into play from both men. Crack!!! Oscar just whacked Floyd with a stiff jab that caused Floyd to count some bulbs here at the MGM Grand Garden Arena!!! Nice. Oooooooooooooh baby dis is gonna be a fight!!! Oscar pushes Floyd into corner & lets it all hang out with his wang out. I aint sure…but I wanna say that Floyd really REALLY felt that. Whether he did or didn‘t…he just clipped Oscar with a short right hand & slid right outt a the way. It worked…so in comes an accurate overhand right & then once again…another. Damn Floyd’s fast. If Oscar’s size fails him…he’s fwocked! Oscar rips Mayweather in the corner again & then Floyd just slips right out.

This hands free recorder is the S***…time to toss us down another Margarita.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 4:
Oscar comes out with a hammering left hook & pushes Floyd back to the ropes. As Oscar comes in…Floyd cracks him with a hard right hand…& another! Oscar lands a volley of body shots as he forces Floyd back into the corner. I don’t really like the looks of that S***. Floyd seems to be either trying to calculate what’s coming or he’s gonna left Oscar tire himself out. That aint the smartest move, IWO. Floyd counters with a right in the corner & Oscar tears into Floyd's ribs again! Get outta that gotdam corner. Damn!!! Big right hand from Floyd. Oscar lands a nice left hook & once again Floyd is against the ropes. Oscar rallies & tries to steal the round pressing the action to the bell. Floyd really REALLY needs to turn it up some. He‘s doing good work…but he needs to stop being so sporadic.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 5:
The bell rings & they come out swinging once again. Oscar fires & Floyd counters with a cracking right & that got Oscar‘s attention. Left hook followed by either a straight right from Floyd. That right is killing Oscar. It’s just so sharp & dead on the money. It causes Oscar to come alive with one of those flurries again. Floyd slips it & counters with a hard straight right. Gotdam!!!! What the fwock was that & where the hell did that come from!!!! From where I’m sittin…Floyd just rocked & stunned Oscar. No S***…his knees just went weak. Floyd saw it too as he jumps right on Oscar with a left hand & then a right that misses. Back to work immediately with a 1-2 from Floyd. Damn!!! Floyd must’ve read my mind because he’s going to work. Hard right from Floyd again. He just can’t miss with it. Oscar’s gonna feel that all night long.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 6:
Oscar comes out straight with an uppercut that finds the mark. Floyd took it well but shells up & let’s Oscar push him back to the ropes. He flurries against the ropes & the crowd goes wild again…& pretty much all of that landed on Floyd's arms. Two left hooks dialed in by Floyd. Right hook from Floyd. Oscar coutners with a right on the inside and Floyd rips him back & the wild crowd went so quite that you coulda heard a gnat fly up a cow’s vergina! Floyd tags Oscar to the bell with some accurate shots & I was still screaming from the last one’s that Floyd landed…so I missed those…but they were pretty accurate & heavy shots. Damn! Oscar fires back but Floyd seems to be sixth sensing him & slipping the shots. Nope. Oscar just caught him with a right. Floyd comes right back with a straight left & a right & Oscar just pulled a deer in headlights move on that note.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 7:
Oscar pushes Floyd to the ropes & unloads. Floyd takes a few but then guards & slips his way outta that slop. Oscar tries…he really does…but Floyd just doesn’t take it. Oscar tries the jab again & for the most part…it worked…but immediately…he lets it go. What the fwock?!?!?! Why give up an advantge like that? Scratch that. Two right hands from Oscar dead on the button from Floyd. Left hook upstairs and then a right to the ribs from Floyd. Oscar senses some urgency & pushes Floyd back to the ropes & tries that flurrying S*** again. The crowd goes wild. Why do they do that? Half the shots hit on Floyd‘s forearms & thus are ineffective. Oh well. I gotta say that Oscar looks busy…but Floyd‘s the one doing the landing work. He’s landing the more effective punches.

Down goes another double Margarito.

Tuh-kee-luh!

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 8:
Oscar seems to be a bit more rejuved for the minute. Left hook, right hand, left straight from Oscar. Floyd swings & misses with a right. He immediately rights himself & lands a left & right tight on the inside. Brilliant! Oscar swings, Floyd slips & cracks Oscar with a left hook. Great great work from Floyd. Quick right from Floyd. Oscar flurries trying to steal the round at the end with a rally…per the usual. Floyd took the round hands down.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 9:
Oscar comes out trying to establish the jab that he gave up on after the 4th. Another right hand from Floyd! Damn. Five or six punch combination from Floyd & they all find a home. Oscar felt that. Once again Oscar tries to rally & flurries again, but Floyd’s speed kicks in again & he lands up top & then rips a right hand to the body. Not sure…but that one from Floyd might have been low. Whatever it was he immediately goes right back up top & rips that right square into Oscar‘s jaw. Damn. Another straight right from Floyd…damn…so fast. Floyd‘s just taking it to Oscar.

I can’t keep my a** in my seat.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 10:
Oscar comes out a bit tentative now. Floyd rips him with a set of left & right combo‘s. Oscar blocked one set but the other hit the button. Christ Floyd‘s accurate as hell. Oscar tags him back & Floyd shells & then lands another right. Oscar jabs & Floyd slips & slides out of the way. Damn. Floyd digs in & lands a right hook…I think that he just missed with a left & then countered. Right hand clocked dead on the money right at the bell & oscar jawed that one hard. Floyd giving a beautiful account of himself. Oscar is fading.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 11:
Floyd does it again. He dials in that right that he’s been bombin Oscar with since the fifth. He barrels in a thudding left hand equally as accurate immediately after the right. Oscar answers back with a right of his own…problem is that Floyd fires one right back & it hurt Oscar. Damn! Oscar backs up with his hands down & Floyd lands a short right on the inside. Oscar swings wild with a left & then hammers Floyd with a nice right near the end of the round. Oscar’s is trying to come on once again…but Floyd just slicks his way out & pops him again.

Oscar vs. Floyd Round 12:
Oscar comes out to start with a right & then starts that flurrying S*** again. It’s bright & flashy…but it just aint effective. Floyd throws & Oscar blocks the set of shots. Oscar pushes Floyd back to the ropes & Floyd is eating some heavy body shots through the flurries. Oscar flurries again in the center of the ring. Floyd tags him with a heavy right hand. Nice. They both exchange toe to toe the crowd goes ape S*** & I get sloshed with beer once again. Hey what can I say…it’s worth it. Floyd digs in & Oscar flurries again. Right hand from Floyd that catches Oscar flush & that jolts him to life again. They both just wail on each other viciously to the bell.

Gotdam that was fantastic!!!

When the scores come off…the first one is chimed out in Oscar’s favor & I S*** you not…for the first time in me life…I do something out of character & yell out “BULLSHIT” as loudly as I can.

Heart broken for an instant that seems like an eternity…all that runs through my mind is that they are going to rob Floyd.

Justice is served as the rest of the votes come out.

Mayweather won the fight…& honestly…I don’t see how in the hell anyone could see it any other way. The scores read 116-112 by Chuck Giampa, 115-113 by Jerry Roth, & then Tom Kaczmarek has De La Hoya ahead 115-113.

I drunkenly & enthusiastically had Mayweather winning by a margin of 116-112.

After the fight...I couldn't explain my enthusiasm. The fellar that was sitting beside me...I nearly tore his arm straight outta it's socket & the guy & his wife in front of me finished the night out with me as we strode through the casino in amazement at the size of the crowd.

The wife & I would go on to gamble our asses off & order a shit load of room service.

Went to a really really nice resturautn for filet & lobster...& my bank account will probably never EVER recover.

Nah babe...I know he did. Along with everyone else that was sitting around me.

It was shocking. Floyd's punches were really really accurate & really really hard felt. He hurt him the worst in the fifth...but he kept on owning him with that right throughout the fight.

El Gamo posted video of the 5th round & that's where he clocked Oscar two or three times with that heavy right.

Check the DRBR that Rhun covered on the thread & I think it's on the second or third to last page.

Also...I don't expect anyone to ready that entire thing...that's a lot of drunken bable...but the RBR is there & that's the vibe of the crowd.

Personally I think both him AND Oscar put on a pretty good fight with good gameplans, just not a great fight or action packed one at all. And I think that BOTH will fight least once more b4 retirin, just hopefully not against each other again. There is no reason for a rematch at all IMO. Floyd clearly won the damn fight.

Nah babe...I've always been down with Floyd...he's been in my top 5 since the first time I saw him years & years ago.

Honestly...I didn't want to make a pick on the Oscar match due to the fact that Oscar was one of my toppers too.

Floyd did that damned thing like a $40 dollar crack whore...but the record breaking PPV buys coupled with the Vegas gate...there's the reason other than that.

Totally disagree about the action of the fight...it was intense. They both had each other at times & everyone within ear shouting distance was acting a fool just like me.

Well I'm sure seein the fight LIVE is a little differnt than watchin it on T.V. Plus spendin all that dough, it better have been a good fight for you to watch. Yeah HBO are bitches, they bring Floyd Sr. in there after the fight to try and say Oscar won, they create controversy when there should be none all in hopes of connin people into watching Floyd outbox Oscar a second time. Those bastards would have had a Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson II, if Tyson wasn't sure he would be killed. ;D

Probably is a bit different...but yeah...it was worth the trip & cash in the end.

It's hard for me to hate on HBO...because I love the shit so much...but a lot of what they do lately does irritate me.

As far as Floyd Sr goes...I thought that was really REALLY tasteless on his & their parts both.

I was a bit disappointed in how sloppy the Bautista fight was, to many clinches and the people around me who didn't watch boxing were equally as disappointed. Then Juarez, I thought that would be a very good fight. Juarez has a discusting amount of inactivity. Such a shame because he could be explosive.

As for the Floyd fight, well it's to damn late at night for me to type that out again. I thought both fighters won though. De La Hoya was courageous to the very end, and Floyd proved himself to be one of the most talented fighters ever and on top of that a defensive genious, he's not Whitaker, but he's damn close.

CC Wack enjoyed it.

BTW - 8th row is pretty damned good Wack. Any celebs in your drunken vacinity?

I hate to post this many times Wack and I'm sorry but good job yelling bullshit, that shit ripped through me when it was announced and I swear I just kept shaking my head, I didn't think they were going to give Floyd that fight. I'd compared the fight to Whitaker - Chavez going into the last round and I thought I jinxed Floyd by doing so. Floyd's face when they announced that was about the same as mine.

Also, anyone else notice when Wack is gone, their CC's stop? I swear I've been on this number since before the fight.

I felt the same way, when I heard the first score read out for ODH, I was stunned. I kept thinking they're gonna rob Floyd to set up the rematch (When they read the first card it was like the Winky-Taylor fight all over again for me, I thought we had a draw coming)... Luckily jusitice was served. I'll give ya that CC amat.

I actually put that up for novelties sake. I left the hours of Friday night (2 a.m. to 111:45 a.m.) & ones from Saturday night (1:30 a.m. to 5:15 a.m) out of the read due to the fact that sometimes Wacko's shit hits "google" & the wife uses that little search engine quite a bit & I was trying to save some credibility to the Wacko/Waters name as a writer.

Gotdam it was a blast. Watched the replay last night & saw myself.

As I said in the read earlier...each time I saw meself when the camera went by last night...my ass was outta the seat!

What can I say...I was proud to be there. It was glorious.

There were too many clinches...BUT...that's what made it exciting. He was holding for dear life as was Medina. The thing is...he needs some work. He's a knockout hunter & that get's him clocked

I lost interest in the Juarez fight after I watched him drop his opponent & then let him offa the hook. I like Juarz but he's gotta learn to work!

Honestly...I'm on cloud 9 with Floyd right now. Oscar fought his ass off...but in watching the replay last night...I was doubley amazed that Floyd was so accurate & stuk to his game. Seriouslly babe...Oscar looked like a deer in head lights & Floyd was as Bentley rolling up @ high speed.

I think you're in for a good fight though. Winky fights are only "boring" because he falls into a pattern; pressing forward, jabbing, blocking punches, rinse and repeat. But Hopkins is good enough to keep Winky out of that same rhythm. Still think my boy wins big though 8)
