WBO ORDERS KATSIDIS v DIAZ (What a fight this will be!!)
Excellent news ;D
The WBO has ruled that negotiations begin immediately for a title bout between world champion Juan Diaz and interim champion Michael Katsidis. Katsidis was scheduled for a big May 26 USA coming out party on HBO, but opponent Joan Guzman pulled out leaving Katsidis in the cold. Needless to say, Team Katsidis is thrilled by the news. "Michael Katsidis and Brendon Smith (trainer/manager) would personally like to thank Mr Francisco Valcalel for enforcing the mandatory and to make one of the greatest fights ever to be seen in the lightweight division," said Smith in an email. "This is the reason why we have been loyal to the WBO for so many years. 'Paco' is a good man and the WBO is a great organization, who have treated us very well."

Katsidis is going to get battered.
I still have a chuckle to myself every time I hear Duke McKenzie screaming at the top of his lungs during round 1 of Katsidis vs Earl, ' But Katsidis is world class John!'
No he isn't and he won't be going more than 7 rounds with the baby bull.

Diaz will take Katsidis to school then take him out Katsidis is'nt ready for this level yet his best opponent to date is Earl that is'nt enough to step up this far

This fight crossed my mind as soon as Guzman pulled out. My God that is...amazing. That is going to be one hell of a fight. Wow. This is huge because there is no possible way this fight is dull. CC for the news, glad the WBO stepped up to the plate. Big fan of Diaz, my favorite lightweight. There is nothing you can't like about the guy, same with his brother Jose who is making his way up the prospect ladder.
This is going to be awesome, Mick your boy is going to get KTFO :D

Your right the commentator was wrong in saying he was world class. Cause he wasn't and he isn't now BUT all fighters have that coming out fight where they prove they belong. I really think Katsidis can beat Diaz.

Let's slow down here a bit up until this last Diaz fight he himself hadn't fought any recognizable names since he beat Lakva who happend to have the WBA belt which was vacant and got it by beating some random guy....
For the record I've said this before I've never been impressed with Diaz until his last fight with Popo in that fight he proved to me he could hang. Hes made his step forward towards the elite and hes earned my respect for that.
I just really think Kats can pull it off....

Up until his fight with Popo, who doesn't have the greatest chin himself, Diaz was looked at as a powder puncher. I always tended to disagree but it's not unreasonable to think that Diaz is going to throw nothing harder then the punch Earl caught Katsidis with. And when you have two guys in a phone booth anything can happen.

Uuuummm!!
I sat ringside and with my own eyes saw Diaz get beat by Contreras and rocked by Contreras. Only to have the judges grant him the decision.
I also saw Irwin stun Diaz, Cotto & Freitas landed some solid shots on Diaz.
Something that really stands out in my mind is the Angulo fight how someone of the caliber of Diaz couldn't stop someone with Angulos inexperience. I just didn't see explosiveness there in Diaz and Angulo won a handful of rounds......

You know what, I am going with Katsidis in this one.He has the will to win and will give it his all in this fight.All of the fights I have seen of his he never lets up and has great power in both hands.

I like Katsidis he seems like an old school fighter, and even if he doesnt win he will still put in a good showing. I like his enthusiasm to fight the best he can too. No ducking anyone! thats the way it should be.

Katsidis is my pick here. IMO Katsidis is a much better fighter with way better power. Late rds KO I think!

I always saw this fight as the future of the division. Two of the best young guns who in years to come will rule this division. My money is with Diaz. I want him to win because he's one of my favourite fighters out there. However, you gotta love Katsidis. His style is exactly what makes exciting fights. I couldn't believe so many of you thought Guzman would beat him. My money was with Guzman getting KO'd!

I'm gonna try to see more of Katsidis. I've only seen the Earl fight but I wasn't impressed, but his management definitely seems to think he's top level, Guzman and Diaz are big step up fights. He is exciting though.
From the Earl fight I can't see much trouble for Diaz, but again I need to see more of him.

Katsidis will win this. He will swallow all big punches the Baby Bull throws but i cant see Bull taking the Kats hits. Kat is much more powerful and he is relentless. It will be a beauty. This will be better than the Freitas V Kat would have been. Freitas doesnt have the heart that the Kat and the Baby Bull have. ;)

Yes. Just in my opinion, i think sports people should have to earn respect on and off the field, so to speak. Mick hasn't done that yet.

i would say freitas has kats power nd diaz took them pretty well nd one other thing is i dont c how knocking out earl gives u the chnce to fight for 2 world titles so there no confusion i mean he got lined up for guzman but when that fell through he gets diaz. He is very exciting to watch though nd with power u allways got a chance but i think diaz will get the ud or a possible late stoppage same if he fort guzman

i though that juan was supposed to be fighting julio diaz, ne1 no wot happened wid that? Although this fight would be more exciting i c julio diaz as a bigger threat than katsidis
