I'd say Pavlik by crushing KO/TKO, somewhere in the mid/late rounds when Spinks slowed down, but two days ago I would've said Taylor would do the same....
Pavlik by Mid KO
Spinks is hard to catch and likes to run as we all saw this last Saturday. If Pavlik could get to him, pin him on the ropes consistently and unloads, there is a chance he could hurt Spinks and get him out of there. More than likely, it would have looked a lot like the Taylor fight, with the big man chasing the smaller, more awkward guy around all night long, trying to get him on the ropes but never really succeeding in cutting off the ring successfully against such speedy footwork as is possessed by a runner like Corey Spinks, who, when he wants to get on his bike and run, is gonna get away nine and a half out of ten times.
I think you have to take your hat off to his ability to capture titles in different weight classes, but shit, this guy gets on my nerves. I think it's not just because he makes for boring fights either. His whole act and LOOK just get on my nerves in general. That intro was nerve-wrackingly stupid and annoyingly lame shit. His bitch-ass crying after the Karmazin win was irritating too. It's gay enough when Mayweather does it, but man, Corey Spinks is one ugly bastard --- and when he cries he looks like some big old retarded donkey braying...making it just even more annoying. Then they pretty much celebrated like he had just taken the belts from Taylor after the fight when they had clearly lost. And what else was lost was some of my respect for Jermaine Taylor. Christ, J.T. Zab Judah knocked that irritating little bastard out, you shoulda been able to at least drop him a few times. I wanted Taylor to full-on put his right glove all the way through that giant genetically placed gap in the front of Spinks' grill.
First right hand that Kelly lands would rock Cory. This is first round ko territory. If Jermain could have cut the ring down and just thrown some shots without worrying about gettin counter he would have stopped Cory, seemed like every right he threw was gettin through. Kind of baffled me why he wouldnt keep up the pressure after landing...he seriously looked bad.
All these people picking Pavlik you're picking against someone different then Miranda. Spinks is a better boxer, is faster and has a hell of a lot better defense. I doubt Pavlik could catch him or stop him. Spinks CAN fight going backwards
And to the person who compared it to the Taylor fight. Pavlik doesnt have a better or faster jab then jermain taylor. he has a lazy jab that he uses to load up on the right hand with. Shane Mosley does the same thing
Pavlik would get out pointed.
Pavlik by ko in 11
This was a question of opinion? My opinion is that Spinks would get KTFO. His style makes Floyd Mayweather look like Kassim Ouma. Now thats a interesting matchup Ouma Vs. Floyd. Maybe Merchant is on to something, counter punching runners should get penalized somehow. Its alot harder to initiate than counter, and frankly counter punchers who only counter are a bit pussy if you ask me. Agression should have alot more weight in a fight.
YOU KNOW WHAT!?! It's up to the fighter fighting them to successfully cut off the ring and make contact!!! If THEY cannot do that then it ISN'T the counter punchers fault!!! ITS THE OTHER FIGHTERS FAULT FOR NOT DOING SHIT ABOUT IT!!!!Quote:

Yeah but put a combo together once in awhile. Do something, anything, only countering is like bettin 1 dollar over someone on the price is right, cheap as hell!!
No Contest, I respect a lot of your opinions and posts, but I have to disagree here... In my very limited experience in boxing, counter-punching is hard. You have to find hole in between your opponents punches while avoiding his punches and avoiding taking too much punishment which impares your punching ability. I have way more respect for a counter-puncher like B-Hop that some jacked-up boxer who comes out wildly swinging like Mayorga. Im my opinion, there is way more skill involved in the counter-punching game. Aggression is only one of many tools in boxing.Quote:

I wont bash him anymore, i guess your his fanclub president. The funny thing is, I think he actually hurt Taylor with that shot to the nose, if he could follow up, he would do alot better on the scorecards. Just my 2 cents. He lands some clean shots, then thats it one and done.
Watching that fight(not looking at the punch stats) I thought he landed more then Taylor did too.Quote:

What did you see?
Pavlik would beat Spinks if he can cut off the ring. His volume of punches would lead to him outhustling Spinks. His size and power would e to much for Corey. He uses the jab well,he can use distance, has long reach and tremendous power in nearly all of his punches. And he hits a hell of a lot harder than Judah at 147 ;) I highly doubt Spnks would be able to avoid contact for the whole fight. I highly dount Pavlik would be hesitant about letting his hands either like JT,and as he showed v Pantera,he has a world class chin. Spinks would get hurt and stopped in the 6th,no doubt about it imo/
To be honest , it was pretty even on the hard shots, maybe Taylor had a few more there. But jabs was Cory all night, and Cory did land some good straight rights. The 80 landed seems low, but I bet the compubox guy works for HBO, and they seem to be working off a script. Sometimes I hear Lampley and I'm like are you watching the same fight? Give Cory credit, he had Taylor confused, I dont think Ive seen Taylor throw so few shots in a fight. I didnt see the Ouma fight, but people were sayin he looked sloppy, maybe he was just trying to hard to not look bad, which is impossible against Spinks. You gotta rough him up not box with him. They both seemed to have alot of respect for each other...too much.Cory could have won, just needed about 10 more punches a round so it was clear, it was too close and if its even possible for Taylor to get the nod he somehow does...
Didn't people JUST say that before the Taylor fight ???Quote:

He's a good boxer who was in a win win situation here. Let's see him go back to 154 and rematch Roman Karmazin, fight Travis Simms etc.Quote:
