Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
Any rumors? As much as I'm not his biggest fan, I would like to see him fight again, but I haven't heard anything since since he bailed on the Taylor fight.
-
Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
I read in one of my magazines that he still wants Taylor

There's talk of him fighting Joval on FNF...

Wow. A year off, JT turned down, and he makes his grand return with Joval. I was hoping for something more interesting.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
To be honest wish he would be more active he hasn't impressed me at all coming out of the contender i thought he would atleast make some major improvements but so far i haven't seen any he needs to step it up and also be more active if he wants to make it somewhere.
-
Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
Joval came off of 2 years off to beat Willie Gibbs impressively. This is a good step up fight for Mora.
-
Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
Honestly...I don't blame the guy for turning down the Taylor fight...the majority of opponents that were asked did the samething.
You don't go into the "Honey Pot's" backyard & expect to win...HBO pretty much guarantees that. Common sense dictates the answer to that offer. What agitates me the most about that is the way Dibella makes it all come off. Saying "NO!" to a hometown decision doesn't mean that Taylor's being dodged like a bullet.

There's also talks of him growing a set of balls, and world peace. It's never going to happen.

Yeah very true.
Mora did the smart thing by turning that fight down. He is actually doing what other prospects aren't and taking his time with his career.

I disagree entirely, every real boxers dream is to be world champion, and when your Sergio Mora, a man who has faught no one of any real class, and your offered the chance to fight the undisputed world champion, you take it by the horns and fight like a man, who cares who's yard your in, you fight with all your might and you can win. It's not like a better chance will ever come around. He's a pussy.

So you're saying that a fighter's dream to be world champion so they'll take the best chance they have at losing right?

He may very well be a pussy...but after seeing Hopkins Taylor I, Taylor Wright, & now Taylor Spinks...one can easily deduce that you gotta knock Taylor's ass out to get a win over Jermain "Honey Pot" Taylor.
If your'e undefeated & you have those odds stacked against you...I don't blame ya for being a pussy. ;D

I guess there's a good example of this, with Junior Witter fighting Zab Judah about 6 years ago, and going into obscurity, but at the same time, if someone offers you the chance to fight the top dog out of nowhere, without even earning it, and you say no, it says a lot about this guys self belief. If it was me, I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror and say I'm the best, I'll be the best middleweight that lived.

Mora aint gonna do shat but talk rubbish like he's the best and he wants to fight the best, The guy at best is a chump. He is very overrated and I would like to see Miranda fight him for a comeback where Miranda can snap his next with a hard punch to that big ass nose.

Yeah and it took Witter near 7 years to get another shot. You think Mora's got that kind of time if he loses?

Hold up, Witter never got his shot for 6 years later because his fights were fucking boring, he has 0 fan base, he cannot sell tickets, he's arrogant, cocky, an just a complete tit. Mora will get his shot if he beats either A) Top ranked contenders or B) Decent fighters, and is exciting when he does it. Thats the basic formula for being a top guy in a division, the other way is to be in exciting fights, and sell tickets.
Even if he went out against Taylor and lost, if he let it all hang out like Ouma did, he's still be much better off. if he went out and got destroyed like Manfredo, he'd STILL probably be better off. Right now he's further off the radar than The Titanic.

This whole "he's smart for not fighting taylor" is utter bullshit, give me a break. He's a joke, period. He had a shot at the world title... anyone would take it. anyone.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
First of all, I don't see how any fighter can be called a "pussy." It take balls, huge balls, to climb into a ring in the first place, and put your health on the line just to try and entertain a bunch of people who might just end up calling you names because you don't do what they want you to do... sorry, but it bothers me when fighters all called pussies, though I have been guilty of it myself in moments of anger and frustration (see my recent posts on JT), but it is simply not true, and I recind my previous comments to that point. All fighters have tremendous courage and guts... even JT and Mora.
Secondly, there is no way Mora was going to KO Taylor, and thus no way he was going to win. B-Hop, Winky, and maybe even Spinks all beat him and still got the shaft. Why throw away all you've earned and accumulated just to lose?. If you look good against him and still lose, you'll probably get ducked, and if you get KO'd in the 1st round, then you were overrated garbage anyways, so how can the guy win?
I don't blame Mora for a second for turning the fight down. Spinks is already established as a top-level fighter, as is Ouma, so they really had nothing to lose. Mora in my opinion had plenty to lose and very little to gain, as he was not going to get the decision in JT's backyard, performing for his pimps at HBO, no matter what he did in the ring.

Cheers man for putting my feet back on the ground there, I don't know how many times I've made posts like your one there myself, anyone who steps in the ring gets my full respect for that, they really are brave men. When I say "He's a pussy," it's always within the context of the sport. My bad.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
How about when mora got the nodd for the second manfredo fight? When a fighter is fighting at home and the fight is close the home town guy ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt. So here's an idea. Win the fight in impressive fashion so its obvious how it has to be scored.

Peter lost. Get over it.
I can't believe you Manfredo fans are still bitter about Sergio beating Peter 3 times.
You guys sure do know how to hang on to a grudge. To bad there is nothing else you guys can do but run your yuk mouths.

First of all, peter did win that fight. Secondly i no longer support him after his debacle against calzaghe as i have stated previously. And thirdly if manferedo can't make it on a world stage what makes you think mora can?

Since when did you become a judge?
You had your fan nut hugging glasses on that night of the fight.
You wish Peter had won but the judges saw it and called it right.
When Mora started with the flurries, Peter turned into a little ball just like he did against Calzlappy.
Ok I am glad you are no longer supporting Peter but you still sound sore about Sergio beating your ex 3 times.
Get over it completely. You can do it. You know Peter can not hang with any one who can flurry.
Just because Peter looked better in that second fight does not warrant a win.
I give Peter the most improved award.
First fight he got an F and Sergio got a A
Second fight Peter got a D and Sergio got an C.
Sergio was sick and cut bad from a head butt and Peter could not do anything with that.
That is sad.
I knew he was going to fold under Calzlappy. I thought you knew!

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
Rewatch the whole first season, they make manfredo look like F****** godzilla.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6xhvjf8g4iE
lol if they do that slow motion bs in season three, i for one will not be watching it looks so cheezy now in retrospect.

I was blinded by the contenders first season. I will never again take anything on that show seriously :'(
HAHAHA! LMAO.
You should have known these were just puppies in a tournament.
Sure Peter was the most hyped up thing but as soon as we all saw little Alfonso Gomez beat him I knew he was nothing special.
Peter tried to run before he could walk.
He did not deserve to be up there with Calzlappy no more than Mora deserves to be fighting Taylor.
I support Mora but I want to see him earn his title shot.
Manfredo fans want to see Sergio make the same mistakes Peter has.
Shame on you monkeys.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
BTW don't let the fact that Manfredo let you down turn you away from watching the show. We have Middle Weights for season 3.

Sorry. I made a mistake. What was I thinking?
They are going to have Supre Middle Weights in season 3.
My bad.
And so what if the show some of the blows in slow motion. They are still fighting.
They are going to show more of the fights, less editting and then they are going to show the full fights after.
It's boxing.
You were a huge fan of season one and only because Peter Pumpking eater let you down you can't watch the show anymore? Something wrong with Manfredo fans for reals.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
I think Taylor should fight Pavlik and Mora should fight Duddy on the undercard. That would be a pretty good card.

I would like to see Mora/Duddy too. They both fight with heart. It would be a nice entertaining fight.

Re: Is Mora ever gonna fight again?
Saying Mora fights with heart is a big statement when as he had a war of any kind this is a kid who won his $1m and then just started fading away

More heart than Tyson.
What did Tyson do when Holyfield head butted him?
He bit his ear twice. (Tyson is a big puzzy)
What did Mora do when he was cut twice from intentional head butts?
He faught on.
So sit down.
Your hero is a rapist.
What would you know about heart?
