He didnt respond to him, was he even listening is the question. I did see the oother cornerman leanin in at Talking in Jermains ear alot. Manny was as pissed as I've ever seen him..that was the most exciting part of that fight, the break between rounds....
Cuz you always come though with interesting articles, CC for you my friend.Quote:

And ended it with "You got 3 minutes Jermain!!! 3 Minutes!!!!"
That was before the 12th. Ask Stewart who was winning the fight ;)
i don't think j.ts corner is on the same page, seems like j.t and manny aren't that close.
I think Taylor makes Steward look bad more than the other way around. If I was Steward I'd refuse to train him.
Steward gave him good advice throughout the fight. it's not his fault that Taylor refused to implement the things steward told him to use.
jermain taylor is a dumb ass and this move makes sense..because he wants to be cuddled in the corner...so now he can go back to his other trainer so he can be told he's winning when he's not..what a fucking idiot...steward should train pavlik
It is about the stupidest mistake he can ever make...You have one of the top 3 trainers of all time...(IMO Eddie Futch will always be #1 ) and your going to drop him???....Because you can't F&^%$* LISTEN!!!!!..........This is Emmanuel Steward not some shit can third rate gym coach!!!!
Manny had good reason to be screaming in the corner...
1. The fight was that close and depending on the judge it could have been looked upon as Corey controlled the fight due to fact they fought at Coreys pace and Taylor caught him with nothing that made Corey respect him
2. Steward knows damn well that a bad performance further hurts Jermain as a major player in the sport money wise (title or not ) look at Hopkis and how long it was before he recieved the big pay day
Taylor was the heir apparent and he has managed to become the king of the division but as far as any type of legacy this kid is throwing it out the window
Stewards obvious talents were being wasted on Jermain Taylor.
Yeah it can go either way. I agree.Quote:

The only real fighters he ever had were Hilmer Kenty, Thomas Hearns, Milton McCrory, Michael Moorer, Leonzar Barber guys like that. Now he acts like because he is on HBO commentating that he can yell at his fighter like that.. I just think that was the wrong approach.Quote:

So, you know for fact that that's not how Steward has been training all along?....just wondering...because you don't forget how to train....He is spending more time as an analyst now but that wouldn't affect the way he trains.....Quote:

wow, how the tides have turned..This is quite amusing actually.
Everyone is jumping on the blame steward bandwagon, but if you actually watched the entire fight, even after the decision you could fully understand JT's mentality going into that fight. After the fight he was quoted saying "I'm the champ, he cant take my title running" To me that says JT did not want to give his full effort in that fight, he felt he had it won before the opening bell, and did not have any sense of urgency. That has to be the most frustrating thing to know as a trainer, from round one manny told him to stop thinking so much with spinks and BANG those punches!
steward has done this for all his life, anyone thinking that he's losing his touch because one knucklehead thinks he's too good to try is ludicrous.
For steward to act the way he did, is completely attributed to the way JT was acting as a professional. It must be hard to train guys with a warrior spirit like holyfield, hearns, lewis, ODLH, then to go to JT who did not want to fight, must of been so aggravating. If JT drops steward I'm not to sure that steward will mind much.
Jermain Steward wasnt he a singer or was that Jermain Stuart lol :)
:coolclick: #70 bro. How funny would that be if Manny masterminded a Pavlik victory over Taylor?Quote:

Instead of firing steward, Taylor simply needs to take a sabbatical, humble himself and become motivated to listen to the best trainer in the business Emanuel Steward.
If for whatever reason Taylor can't communicate with Steward, than he should find another trainer. It doesn't speak well of Taylor that that he can't listen to the guy, but whatever, different trainers are better for different fighters. I think Jermaine feels a little invinible right now. He's been reading too many of his own press clippings.
Steward is one of the few big trainers that develops fighters. He still works with lots of amateurs. He has his own stable of fighters and lots of nobodies. I don't know of any other big name trainers still going to amateur tournaments with their own fighters.Quote:

Steward gets on my nerves sometimes but it's real hard to criticize those kind of results.
If Taylor sacks Steward, wouldn't it be poetic justice if Andy Lee beats Taylors ass a few years down the road?
Taylor and Steward are not working as a unit at all. Its quite a bizarre relationship really. I fully emphasize with Steward. Taylor just doesnt respond to his corner.
Steward needs no part of any further involvement with Taylor, its not worth it. I cannot imagine what they are like in the gym! :-\
Taylor listens to Taylor... If I were Manny I'd dip on this kid and tell him to pound sand cuz thats gonna be the only thing he's pounding if he continues to diregard his corner!! 8)
If steward was giving him bad advice, then i would have put the blame on steward. A boxer shouldn't need a trainer to tell him the fight is close. the boxer should know that on his own. If you get hit with 10 shots, you know how to count don't you? That means you have to hit the other fighter with at least 10 shots or more.
If Taylor listened to Steward, IMO, he would do better. But, If Taylor is too cocky, or just doesn't mesh with Steward, then he should find someone more compatible. In my eyes, Taylor should learn how to follow directions. But, it's his life, his call.
Manny should drop Jermain if anything.....Manny has ANDY LEE, a great young fighter who will actually do what he's told!
Jermain has his head up his ass and he had best UN-FUCK himself before his next fight
if anyone has spents significant time in the southern/midwest U.S...places like Memphis, Tn, and little rock, ARK..guys like Jermain Taylor become extremely complacent and content when they taste a bit of real cash..taylor was through caring about the sport when he beat bhop...now he's only in it for the money, he doesn't want to be great..
but he's so dumb that he doesn't realize that greater he strives to be, the more money he will make...Damn he's a fucking dumb ASS..and dropping manny really pisses me off...
HHHhhmm. I wonder about who is sacking who here?Quote:

Sorry but Taylor is a looser if he thinks Stewart is the problem.Stewart is the best thing that could ever happen to him, he just doesn't listen, he is to arrogant for his own good!He is only in it for the payday and that never makes a good fighter.Pavlik will destroy him that is if they can raise enough money to get Taylor to fight him! ::** :(
Well said , well said. +1.Quote:
