Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Ricky hatton i think has to go after him , even tho this is dangerous , if he backs off like his last 2 fights i think JLC will stop Ricky with body shots.
I think he has to stick close as againest Kostya , head on chest and punch for all hes got cos if he doesnt hurt JLC he looses for me , if he fights like this then he wins in 10.
wot do you guys think :):)

That would be entertaining yeah but a risky strategy IMO. Staying in punching range for the whole fight against a known banger is just what Castillo wants him to do , he doesnt want to chase like he did Mayweather . I know Ricky did it vs Tszyu but I think that was a one off career high . The intensity he displayed that night hasnt been repeated and he doesnt seem to perform that well abroad.
Hatton has to box in and out and I dont mean the smash and grab tactics he elected in the Urango fight . He has to use his advatages in youth and speed against the older plodder. I dont know if Ricky is digressing as a fighter but his recent fights havent fulfilled the potential the Tszyu performance suggested . Collazo the slick stylist hurt him and Urango the crude slugger hurt him so which style is he guna look good against ?!
The Castillo fight is one where he can reclaim that reputation as one of the finest p4p with a convincing win . Castillo as he was last time has slowed as a fighter and his gameplan is no secret , come forward , position himself for that left hook . If Hatton meets him head on it could be anyones fight so he has to use his head abit atleast for the first few rounds. Keep Castillo turning , mix em up to head and body and never stay in the same place for long , keep his back off the ropes and use the ring. It isnt easy to stop Castillo marching forward . Floyd did it with effective jabbing to the body . Its not like an Oscar body jab whre he would just aim lower , Floyd would actually dip and step into it and Castillo cant get set when guys do that . Ricky is a fine body puncher but I dont think we'll see him being wreckless . He will adopt a sensible strategy and stick to it.

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
:) RICKY says we will see the new me, against Castillo, that means he has not YO-YO-D his wht as much between his last fight and this one, so Ricky will beat JLC BETWEEN ROUNDS 7 AND 10. With an all action very busy hard punching ricky- he will be on top of JLC and break his spirit, some where between these rounds. ;)

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
As far as Im concerned Hatton should simply box smart as most know he is able to do. Work on the inside and then use some distance. He should use his underestimated skills to rack up points...
It will not be a slugfest. Castillo will come forward and search and Hatton should play around that...
Hatton WILL beat Castillo...

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton to dance tango and score 5.0
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton unanimous points decision for me.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
i see this fight being fought in a phonebooth. i think castillo will come out on top but hatton won't have anything to be ashamed off. fans will beg for a rematch.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton should be the stronger of the two. I think Hatton will need to bull rush JLC, stay on his chest. and wear JLC down.
for JLC to be effective he will need a bit of distance. if he gets that distance Castillo whould have some success and Hatton could find himself in trouble very quickly.
This fight in one not to miss !

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
that close range fight is JLC's bread & butter, i think he is going to hurt Hatton cause he is kinda weak in da body, i see maybe a slit decision for JLC cause hatton is goin to be a lil more active in the first 3 or 4 rounds in da fight.

true in most fights.. not in this case. Hatton can smoother a fire faster then a wet blanket. Castillio will need some range to win this one, IMO .

How do you guys see the Hatton v Castillo fight turning out?
Ricky says its going to be another Tzysu performance, if he means stylewise it will be exciting but i dont know if they are the right tactics, KT was a fighter who liked to line you up wait for his oppurtunity, and he didnt know what to do when he was rushed and was asked to fight for theree minutes, Castillo does and if this type of fight pans out then Hatton is basically in a coin toss sort of fight imo. I think Hatton needs to be cute and pick his moments with footwork, but if he wants another HBO contract maybe a war is what might happen, lets hope Ricky can last 12 rounds at a good pace, because for me the Tzysu fight was a one off in terms of the pace and determination he had that night. I personally think Hatton can sneak a Decision but will it be pretty im not sure.

hatton will be to stong for castillo mark my words he WILL stop castillo late on. castillo has never seen anything like ricky hatton before
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
I don't understand the argument that Hatton will be too strong for JLC, what is that based off of?
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton needs to fight smart if he fades late on in the fight like he has been doing of late JLC will get im out of there. Hatton needs to work the body when he is on the inside then control the fight with his jab from the out side.

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
killersheep it based on the fact that castillo has fought at lightweight most of his life and this will only be his second fight at 140 against the king at 140. plus hattons sparring partner for this fight, that mexican dude i cant remember his name. said hes also sparred castillo and he said hatton will be to strong for castillo when they meet. SO THATS WHAT IM BASING THIS ON. COME ON MAN GET UR BRAIN IN GEAR

He is bound to say that tho cause Hatton is paying his wages it always happen when sparring partners have been in with the same fighter, they say who ever is paying their wages is gonna win.

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?

Castillo was obviously weight drained at lightweight. You can say Killer you were right, when Hatton is trying to lift himself off of the mat. Besides that Hatton hasn't exactly shown power lately. Urango's power shots were showing HUGE effect on Hatton, I'm not saying JLC hits as hard as Urango, but he will hit Ricky more often, especially in the championship rounds.

I think Chavez was too good a fighter and would have stopped Hatton in round 10 or so. Chavez was relentless and had a good chin and was quick..

His fights against, Kostya Tszyu, Ben Tackie, Michael Stewart and Vince Phillips, to name a few, all 4 are strong, big 140lbers who are physical orthodox fighters, plus for good periods of the Collazo fight he was pushing him on the ropes too. They all got well out muscled by Hatton. I know it's only one factor but I think it's fair to say Hatton has a strength advantage over Castillo.

K well, JLC: KOed Chico (if Diego hadn't spit out his mouthpiece, it would have been twice), wore out Joel Casamayor, beat down Julio Diaz, And is the ONLY who can have an argument that he beat PBF as a pro, in a large part because of his strength.
Don't get me wrong this is not a walk in the park for either guy. I'm backing Castillo and don't see Hatton's power being a factor, if I'm wrong I'll gladly admit it.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Its a close call this one and will be Ricky's toughest fight yet. I think JLC still has more in him that Tszyu did in 2005 & its in USA and not his hometown.
I think Hatton will use both close up tactics then bobbing and weaving when it suits him.
Hattons youth will be the factor for me and will win a close decision.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
i think hatton will win a decision

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Castillo comes on strong through rounds 8-12 & he wont need any distance just good stance to let off those crisp left hooks, Hatton definately needs to bully in & rush him if he wants to throw Castillo off his style. We'll have to wait and see. It'll be exciting. I say Castillo by late KO.

As you say there's two sides to every coin and there's no question that Castillo is a top level fighter, which makes this all the more special because we're going to find out who's the best, most likely in spectacular fashion :D

What is the televised undercard fight for this card?
I like Hatton by decision.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton on points for me.Younger, just as strong, faster.Although there have been many reports on JLC looking really good in training for this fight.

Im the biggest Hatton fan, but i think it's going to be a very hard fight, months ago i thought it would be easier than how i feel now but, people say Castillo is washed up?? How do we know this? He was nowhere no prepared properly for the fight in January this is a big big fight he would of trained as hard as ever, i dont know why people say he is finished you cant say that from one performance on a undercard against an opponent no one even new? I'm saying Hatton SD or UD, but very close!! COME ON RICKY!!
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
JLC is far far from washed up but its no lie to say that he has been in alot of wars and is slightly old. Thats a fact. It should and would not detract from a Hatton victory.
-
Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Hatton just needs to look out for Castillos left hook when he is up close . Apart from that he hasnt got that much to worry about IMO . Castillo is fading fast and looked poor last time . He plods forward . He is slower on his feet than Ricky . He is older and slower so i'm picking Ricky to do a job on him . He could stop him late but a points win is a more likley result . 116-112 Hatton

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
It will either be fight of the year - or one of the biggest let downs in boxing EVER...
A) we ave to go guys smashing the shit out of eachother and everyone talks about it for years
or
B) the one im picking... hatton uses his punch and hold rutine whislt castillo does very little apart from use a few body shots in side coz he his is a shot fighter... i hope im wrong but thats the way its going imo

Just reading Mallinaggi interview on fightnews, and he says the guy who Castillo beat last time out was awful in his last fight?? That is very suprising, maybe Castillo is washed up?? I still think he has enough to make this a great fight.

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
Castillo always looks bad in the smaller fights but has shone in his fights with PBF,Chico,Stevie Johnston,Casamayor,Diaz,Lazcano etc etc. He's 31(I think). At this stage in his caree,he was always going to find it dificult getting motivated for a fight with Ngujdo. I think he is much more motivated for the Hatton fight and I hope we see that!
As for Hatton's holding,I honestly hope he does not utilise it too much and I don't think he will either. This could be his last chance to impress the American audiences because he has had chance after chance since the Tszyu fight. I think he'll go out,try to go the fans a war so they are talking about him again/more.

Re: Hatton v JLC how will the fight go ?
hatton sd.
i think it be a war
