Will Hamed come back?
I remember seeing Hamed sitting with Marco Antonio Barrera before a fight and Hamed said he would be coming back and blah blah blah. Anybody heard anything? He seems a bit out of shape now.
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
That ship has sailed. He had one comeback fight after Barrera, which was a bit of a stinker, and then he retired. These days he's probably about 200lbs, and has been in prison for dangerous driving. I think he's about 31-32 now but I doubt he's ever coming back.
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
I doubt it as well...hopefully he makes toney join him.
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
He did bring some excitement to boxing. That's the thing about having fighters you love to hate, you just want someone to beat them with fashion and you're hooked.
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
if he did make a comeback he will be 33, it would of been 5 years since his last fight an he's be fighting at a much higher weight. FORGET IT. would be interesting thou

Thee Hamed will never come back :(
I just uploaded one of his amateur fights when he was 16 years old. Man this fight is funny.

I will post the fight around here later this evening.
I know I have more of his amateur fights somewhere I need to find them. They are funny as hell.
Nas was a trip.
I hated hearing him talk though. He talked more shiet than a big_douche bag.
;D

Re: Will Hamed come back?
I reckon that Hamed v Toney would be a f***ing funny fight, as both fighters' arms at their current weights aren't long enough to guard all of their body at once....so quite simply it'll be two fat guys in silk shorts hitting each others' beer gut. The only place to get that kind of entertainment is at a butterbean fight ;)

Re: Will Hamed come back?
I tell you though, this is a lot of bullshit everyone is talking about naseem hamed. In hindsight he was a bit of a prick but at the time he was an enigma, he was a real fighter, and above all, he was an entertainer. The great Muhammed Ali described as "One of the greatest show men on earth,". He wasn't wrong. If you cast your mind back to the build up to Naz vs Kevin Kelley, that fight was deciding who was the greatest Featherweight in the world. And Naz won in style. Kelley was 49-1 at the time, and I feel like people are selling that short. That fight was Naz's 9th defence of his crown. No mean feat.

Re: Will Hamed come back?
It all depends on Naz's physical and mental shape.
I'm pretty sure he still have the skill. It's like riding a bicycle right?... you don't forget.
When is he coming out? I hope real soon.
Knowing that hes got attitude, I doubt they will release him early for having a good behavior.
But hey, maybe he'll be like small version B-hop someday ;D
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
Hamed will never get it back. I'm sure he could still KO some foes, but can't see him being close to contention. I've seen stranger things though. It's just been too long IMO, and doubt that he could get back. Especially, after seeing him in his fight after Barrera.

I wouldn't quite compare boxing to riding a bicycle. You never forget how to ride a bike, and you probably never forget your boxing technique either, but you never regain your reflexes, endurance or metabolism when you get old.

"Riding a bicycle" was just my simple analogy, and I agree with you on "reflexes, endurance or metabolism" part.

Re: Will Hamed come back?
The thing that pisses me off the most about Hamed is he said after the Barrera fight champions always come back after a loss and prove themselves again at the elite level????? Well Naz WTF?
Great fighters who have lost for the first time and comeback just as good as before include Duran,
Tszyu, Ali, Olivares, Leonard, Hearns, Robinson, Whitaker just to name a few. Of course they were great fighters, I doubt Naz ever was!
-
Re: Will Hamed come back?
Naz wasn't legend material but Naz is way under rated nowadays. He was a such a prick outside of the ring that people refuse to think anything positive about him.

To be honest with you mate, after 9/11 there was no way he was going to continue fighting and shouting 'Allah' during his ringwalk. I do wish he came back but he would have had to stop all that stuff, just do his dancing and flip over the rope, I loved that shit I gotta admit it. It was good to watch.
It's too late for him now, especially being so big for such a short guy. I bet his stomach has a better reach than his arms these days.

I think you are right about the 9/11 thing, he was going to find it very difficult in the US after that. I loved all the entertainment stuff as well, he should have comeback and fought Barrera again or Morales.

Re: Will Hamed come back?
Not sure if I'm confused or not but didn't Naz have his boxing 'licence' taken off him as well as going to jail?

Oh yeah, he should have tried for a rematch and actually TRAIN for it instead of looking for that knockout punch he ended up depending on. Saying he took Barrera lightly is a massive understatement.

Re: Will Hamed come back?
For Hamed to came back at this stage is extremely unlikely. It is so unlikely I am willing to stake the small finger on my right hand on it.
He has money, and obviously is lacking the desire to make any serious attempt at a comeback beyond the lame comments he has occasionally issued...

Re: Will Hamed come back?
The funny thing is, if Naz was a Heavyweight, you wouldn't rule out his return based on the comebacks of so many older fighters these days. To be honest, seeing how fat he's gotten, he could prob make Heavyweight.

I think that asking Naz to be a heavyweight, in seriousness would be crazy....with him at slight over five foot four inches tall, I reckon if he had a WBA heavyweight title eliminator with Nikolay Valuev would have to be the biggest height difference between fighters ever. Although Naz looks to be overweight, I reckon he walks around somewhere between Light Heavy and Cruiserweight. Who knows...he could slim down and be the next opponent for Joe Calzaghe ;)

Yup, but the image of Naz v Valuev was one that I felt it was vital to share.
