I would agree.
I think its a closer fight if Jones were to fight Calzaghe because Gerald isn't super fast.
im afraid not, G MAN was one hell of a puncher and a great fighter. He would have to fight Calzaghe at SMW which he was not natural weight class and JC is quite big for his weigh.
He doesnt have the same ring craft/skill as JC and he would prob try to go to war with him, which i just cant see being a good idea. If they would of fought prime, i would have JC late TKO. If they would of fought at how JC hands are now i would say Calzaghe UD.
No way in hell could Calzaghe ever have beaten a prime G-Man. Calzaghe's been dropped by guys who don't hit hit nearly as hard and aren't nearly as relentless as the G-Man. And even in the younger days, Calzaghe's power would not have kept Gerald off him. I see G-Man by KO, wouldn't even bee surprised if it came early.
Calzaghe eats too many right hands and Gerald has great one he really hurts you with his long right hand i would have to say mid round tko or ko for Gerald.Quote:

To be fair he never struggled with Ashira he had broken hand in middle rounds and still won every single round i don't see how that is struggling ?? Robin Reid and Richie Woodhall would be better because they tagged Calzaghe alot with the right hands.Quote:

look you can knock Calzaghe all you want, he has never been really hurt in a fight, when he dd get dropped what happened he came back and demolished the oppenent. He came close to losing once in over 40 fights, when he was quite young but still won the fight. I think Calzaghe gets underestimated alot, he's far quicker and more skillfull than G MAN.
Think this fight could be quite close Calzaghe would have to use lots of movement and a very stiff jab none of that pitter patter stuff i think Calzaghe could keep him off for quite afew rounds. The question is would the Gman start getting discouraged if he did'nt get his early ko if not theirs a chance the Gman would catch up with him around round 9 or 10 to force a stoppage but lets not forget yes he mite have already had them head injuries but Benn took Gman's best and kept coming and stopped him.Now im not saying he could buts what to say Calzaghe could'nt do the same.
But in those fights he has never fought a WORLD-CLASS guy...i thought Jeff Lacy was world-class before they fought but he almost lost to Vitaly Typsko so that went out the window. Until he beats Kessler he isn't the real SMW champ in my mindQuote:

When Joe's on song like that he simply would be outclassed.
and yes if he gets stopped by benn why on earth wouldnt Calzaghe be able to do the same???????????????????
Calzaghe by Ud/late stoppage...
Joe is a natural smw g-man wasn't, g-man could bang but its hard to knock out what you can't hit... i said before when calzaghe has been in with fighters he has respect for he is a hell of alot harder to hit with glancing blows, let alone knock out blows...
yes he got dropped by guys who wern't world class, but chris ali got dropped by chuck wepner... if the greatest can get dropped by a 'club fighter' so can any other guy...
Joe can fight for every second of every single round, his speed, power, jab and ring skills would prove to much for the g-man in the end..
he's beat everyone in his division for 10 years. EVERYONE, and nw looks like taking on the new kid on the block kessler. Not his fault his generation wasnt the best, and maybe it was JC has been a different class.
So because Calzaghe had problems with right hands his whole career thats an off night ??Quote:

The only prayer Joe C would have had is if he a home-cooked ref like Benn did who would let him get away with the rabbit punches.
McClellan by big KO :o
dont think you can really say either way whether the KO was anything to do with that... Id be surprised if anyone could say, your making out like he was invicible... far from it.
No Calzaghe eats right hands all time he ate them from Reid all night long and Woodhall hit him clean aswell lots of times and guess what punch it was that Salem decked Calzaghe with ?? a right hand its fact he has always had problems with the right hands.Quote:

I would say Lennox vs. Tyson was a better performance, and Lennox vs. many of his opponents was more impressive.Quote:

gman had good boxing skill and great timing. and he used to beable to box he just stopped doing it when he found out he had knock out power. g man had the sort of power that would have went right up to heavy weight. i mean the guy had power on par with jackson.
but he didnt knock benn out and that was at SMW, not MW. Its not like he was knocking world class fighters out either at MW and he did loose twice early on in his career, i may be wrong but not what i know of
:appl: :coolclick:#39 bro.... I couldnt have said it better myself ;)Quote:
