If so, I'll buy you a Carmen Basilio sausage sandwich!

Hello, I should be there as well.
In fact I just posted a note on this in another thread.
What days are you gonna be there?
-
Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?

If all goes well I should be in Wednesday night. Maybe we can meet up at Grazianos for a beer?

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
I am really surprised there is not more interest in this. I really thought more members would be going.
A great weekend with 4 days of great boxers & events. :excited:

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
I was planning on attending this year but I just couldn't work it out.
I live in Los Angeles and my entire trip would have come out to something around 1,300 dlls. (all included with money to spend) I also couldn't work it into my schedule.
I would have loved to be there I mean Duran, 'Finito' & Whitaker what more could you ask for?
You guys take care and enjoy yourselves out there. :)

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
If I went places that would be one of that places I'd of... go.

It does get a little pricey but there are ways to cut cost.
I am also flying from Ca & roundtrip was like a little over $300. Hotel is pricey but if you split that with 1 or 2 guys its not to bad. In our group there is about 8 of us & growing. There are 2 of us in a hotel room & 1 guy may stay there a night or 2. You dont spend much time in the hotel.
If you ever go, try & make a few friends that go every year & then you may have some guys to split rooms with etc.

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
Well now you know me. ???
I see you have Arguello & Oliveras in your avatar. Both guys are there almost every year & really friendly. Oliveras is funny as hell.
They both did lectures last year.

Lokk for a nice looking man with a mustache who is on the "mature" side. That would be me at Graziano's eating fried peppers with olive oil, small salad, pasta and sausage, and drinking Merlot, topped by a nice canoli. Burp!

Ted I will look for you man, if you want I can give you a cell #??? If not I have a shaved head & will be drinkin beer. Some of the guys in our group say I look like Kelly Pavlik. So if you see Kelly Pavlik there in Grazis its probably me.
Saturday night we may slip a way for a few hours & go watch the Cotto vs Judah PPV. We are gonna skip the banquet this year & watch the PPV. Hopefully will be back at Grazis after the PPV.
Hope to see you there.

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
I always wanted to go to this. It's actually crossed my mind to go for my Senior trip next year. Not quite sure how that would work out though. Would LOVE to meet Pernell Whitaker.

No , you dont you will be disapointed.
Although the 40 or 50 other boxers you meet there will make it worth while.
If anyone is with 4 or 5 hours driving distance to Syracuse I suggest goin spur of the moment this year.

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
No I don't think I will. Even if he wasn't the nicest guy, I was growing up in Norfolk, Virginia when he was in his prime. He came to my elementary school, would love to share that experience.

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
My son and I are leaving friday morning. Should be there around 1p.m. I just spent part of today getting together some stuff we hope to get signed. This is like the 12th or 13th year for us. Looking forward to it. Also looking forward to the Basilio sausage sandwich. Maybe those of us who go should carry Saddo signs around so we can meet one another.

Well whoever goes I envy you very much. I go to the one in Los Angeles ever October, but that pales in comparison to the New York hall. Rubbing shoulders with the great fighters is alot of fun. I have a friend named Harrin who will be going to the New York hall of fame probably. Some of you might know him. Great guy.

No I did not go to cocktail party last year, I have heard it not worth it cause its only an hour. Would you recommend it?
We plan on headin to a buddies house to watch the Cotto vs Judah PPV Saturday.
We will be at HOF grounds everyday & have tix to the middleweight thing Friday night. I also plan on goin to the memorabilia show at the H.S.
When at Grazis we are usually around the far right end of the bar if your facing it.

I highly recommend the Cocktail party. You can get good pics and great conversation and also, if you go to the top floor, your pick of good food. One issue is that Hagler and Frazier do not make themselves avaialble to the attendees. They go to the Choral section in the top which is roped off. They are not at all fan friendly when it comes to conversation or photos. That's the only dissapointment I have ever experienced at the Hall. Fortunatley, Hagler lives up the road from me so I get to talk with him in town like anyone else and he is very friendly. The big thing that is missing this year is a venue of fights.
-
Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
I've never had a problem approaching Hagler. Frazier, however, is the only guy in my 12 or so yrs or going to the IBHOF induction weekend that charged for an autograph. They didn't do fights at last yrs induction. They did a night with the 76 olympic team. The fight cards seemed to be just so so and maybe that's why they don't do them. Anyone else remember when the fights were free?
-
Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
I forgot the HOF thing was this weekend. I fugured Pernell would be at MSG to support Zab, but I doubt he'll be there, since he's getting inducted.
It'd be cool if they could get Duran, Whitaker and Finito down to MSG and they could introduce them before the main event.

Re: Is anyone else going to the Hall of Fame ceromonies this week?
with all due respect to my man DURAN........... i hope hes been losing weight i mean it cant be healthy at all the way he's been looking lately :-[

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU APPROACHED HAGLER?
