Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Here is the article...I bet Tysonbruno laughs his tits off through every word of this.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/6725411.stm
Calzaghe says he will KO Kessler
Calzaghe remains unbeaten after 43 professional fights
WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe says he expects to knock out Mikkel Kessler when they meet in Denmark in September.
Kessler is the undefeated WBC and WBA champion while Calzaghe has held the WBO title for 10 years.
"Kessler is the best other super middleweight in the world - we're both head and shoulders above everyone else," said Calzaghe.
"But I believe his style is suited to me. I'm convinced I can knock him out."
And Calzaghe explained that his confidence was so high that he was happy to stage the fight in Kessler's home country.
"That's why I'm willing to travel to Denmark," said Calzaghe. "I don't think it will be a 50-50 fight."
After holding his title for so long, Calzaghe said that he was now looking to make his mark in history.
"These are the sort of fights I want. It's about cementing my legacy now," said Calzaghe.
"Kessler is the main man out there - he has got two belts and is undefeated. This is the biggest fight in boxing.
"After 25 years of boxing, not a lot gets me excited, but Kessler will get me excited.
"I don't think Copenhagen is the most hostile place to go. But I love pressure and I love hostile atmospheres.
"I feed off them. It will be a big challenge but that's what I need."

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Its a possibility that Kessler will be stopped down the stretch. Calzaghe is too good for Kessler.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Im sorry Calzaghe fans but unfortunately Joe Calzaghe could'nt Knock a good wank out now that pitter patter stuff he was throwing at Manfredo ain't knocking Kessler out if their is a stoppage it will be Calzaghe getting stopped. ;) ;D 8)

Your gunna be eating some tasty words if Joe does KO him. I'm gunna go with Joey C on this one. It's time to keep the faith. All the moaning that has been aimed at Joe (myself included) about him not trying to cement his legacy is coming to an end. You can't say he's not looking for the big fights now. Accepting the offer for the Kessler fight is a big step in the right direction. We need this signed, sealed and delivered for September.

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Its definately a step in the right direction im not pulling him over the fight its the ko comment hat off to him for chasing this fight if Calzaghe makes this fight happen full respect to him but can't see him stopping Kessler if he could'nt stop these.
Eubank
Reid
Thornberry
Starie
Brewer
Jimenez
Salem
Ashira
Lacy
Bika
How can he stop Kessler who has'nt even been shaken or dropped im going for Kessler to win this one but if Calzaghe does win then my hat comes off to him again i still won't be a fan but i will respect him as a fighter.

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Yeh Eubank was really easy to stop ::**

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"

I knew somebody would pick out Eubank and say that im saying Kessler is quality like Eubank,Reid and Lacy he did'nt stop them and he did'nt stop some weaker opponents like the others listed so i can't see him stopping Kessler a man never down or shaken in 39 fights

If Kessler grows a sack and takes this fight, I can't wait to hear your sh1te when he gets battered!!!
N.B - My official prediction (not excuse!!!!) is Calzaghe will break his hands and either be pulled out or lose trying to fight one handed ;) C'est la vie

Nah I knew what you meant, I just feel it's time to get behind him. Fair play to you. You're sticking with your prediction. It'll probably be wrong though, because it didn't agree with mine ;D ;D ;D

If his hands are that bad he should retire because im sick of hearing about them

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"

Everybody is always going on about Calzaghe's record and how he has never fought any real big names yadda yadda yadda, but Kessler's list of victims isn't exactly peppered with world class stars there y'know. Beyer was in there looking for his last big payday before he put his feet up, and Mundine had been exposed before Kessler beat him. Andrade was strong and willing, but untested and proved to lack the skills. I also reckon that Calzaghe will batter Kessler, but I'm unsure whether he'll force a stoppage. Despite not being a big puncher, he still has 32 KOs from 43 fights, and with those hands that's a miracle. And I'm afraid TysonBruno, that you'll have to hear more about the hands, because they have been gradually getting worse since his amateur days, and have only delayed returns to the ring, which says a lot about how much Calzaghe wants to be in there.

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
joe by sd in the fight of the decade, thats mine
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
:) Ive a lot of respect for Joe as a boxer, but knock out Kessler, joe might stop him while he is still standing, but to knock him out, have the rules changed and he is allowed to take a baseball bat into the ring? ;)
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Me might KO Kessler if Kessler gets an allergic reaktion to bullshit from Warren and Palle, that blinds him :cwm3: :cwm28: ;D
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Calzaghe could well stop him late on by TKO, Kessler is made for JC u mark my words...

Eubank was bloody tough
Reid was tough as nails
Starie was durable but it was scrappy fight
Brewer is durable
Salem is durable but he was dirty
Ashira Calzaghe was one handed after the middle rounds
Lacy is tough
Bika is tough

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
I dont see a knockout in this fight, Calzaghe does not have the same pop he once had i was watching the Sheika fight a few weeks ago and his power was much better back then, obviously the hands come into play, Tysonbruno you say should he should retire? Why he still wins his fights easily without needing to knockout his opponents.
Now if we are saying tko, there is a strong possibility, look at the Lacy fight lets be honest would anyone have been shocked if Jeff was pulled out? No they wouldn't, so that is a possibility, im sticking with a clear 12 round decision.
People over rate Kessler to much he is a good champion in a weak division, i think Calzaghe and Warren realise that everyone is talking about this fight now and want it badly so they can show the world how good Calzaghe is.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
I agree that joe may not posses one punch knockout power (perhaps due to hand problems) but i do feel he may stop Kessler down the stretch, remember the cuts he opened on lacy? well i feel if he does the same against kessler, mikkel although a great champion may not show the same gluttony for punishment that jeff did.

Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
I think calzaghe will pull out a ud if his hands hold up nd another thing i do think the smw divsion is getting a bit stronger wid fighter like froch, inkin, brute nd odonov who i aint seen but 26 wins 26kos sounds powerfull in a weak division or not pluss i think theres a few other descent fighter coming up so some gd fights should happen soon at super middle
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
I just looked at oganovs record nd hes knocked out 26 nobodys so he might not do much but froch, inkin, brute, mundine nd andrade should have fights between themselves nd then chalenge the winner of kessler nd joe

I think the difference between those fighters you picked out, and Kessler, is that Kessler will be significantly more aggressive than most of those fighters were, and when he comes forward and constantly misses with some great movement by Calzaghe, then it will wear him down, much like it would wear out anyone else. Whilst I don't see Calzaghe winning in a situation where he puts Kessler on his backside and the Dane then misses the count, I could see Kessler tire to such an extent that Calzaghe will do his all out attack thing while Kessler covers up, and eventually the ref will have no choice but to save Kessler and call it off.

We should hear whether its a go or not once Mogens Palle gets out of hospital, and sends contracts over to Frank Warren, then they'll see what dates for HBO are available.

What recent fights has calzaghe not broken his hand in?

probs for going on boxrec to pull up fighters from his carrer *yawn* shocked you didn't mention bobbie joe tbh...
Apart from lacy the rest are pretty menaingless imo... eubank was a fucking hard nut to crack and joe was VERY GREEN, bollax to how past it or washed up people say eubank was he was in way to fine a shape for a green calzaghe to stopp him...
Reid, Ashira -come on he had to fight with one hand for half of both them fights lol
Brewer was a tough nut and i know he is a bit chinny but that was a war and i rate that charles brewer of this kessler any day of the freaking week
im sure he had hand problems in a few of the other fights as well as going through a major downer irl with his divorce and shit
bika made it clear after the second round he knew he couldn't win and was there to go the full 12...

Sorry Preme but are you kidding ?? Brewer may of been former world champ but he was never elite Kessler is well more rounded and better boxer than Brewer come on Brewer was nothing special in that Calzaghe fight even though it was a good fight.

sorry mate but i would pick brewer to KO kessler any day of the week... when kessler gets in the ring with a fighter will will get into him, work the body as well as the top he will be in all kinds of shit...
If lacy can come back, work on slipping inside kessler he will prove all kinds of shit for kessler...
I like brewer alot, i think he is pretty underrated.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Kessler has very quick hands and from what i know sturdy chin Brewer was always chinny i was suprised Calzaghe couldn't put him away to be honest he was exciting but never elite.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
Preme you don't half talk crap sometimes mate i made that list basically to say how would he KO Kessler when he could'nt KO these on the list and the tough ones and the weak ones and Kessler is as tough as the tougher ones so how can Joe do to him what he could'nt do to these.

Kessler has gone the 12-rounds three times, but the reason I agree with the suggestion Calzaghe could give him trouble down the stretch is that Kessler's three wins, against Andrade, Mundine and Thobela, have all been very easy wins, but the difference with Calzaghe is that he is much more than just durable, Calzaghe showed against Lacy that he has the engine to keep throwing loads of punches, all the way deep into the 12th round, and that is what will trouble Kessler IMO. If Kessler is in a really competitive fight all the way into the last round, with the result in the balance, that is when we'll see the real test for him.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
joe accurate but no ay in hell he can kayo kessler
i do a front flip on a cactus
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
first off joe aint knocking kssler out. I've never felt joe punch but I don't think that h reallyhits that hard. on the other hand I think kess has a little more pop than joe. I will be honest I don't like joe but as a fighter I respect the LITTLE that he has done. people talk about kess not being tested but what about joe. his last few fights have been fairly easy. but when he fought a guy who could hit back a little like bika he had a hard time. kess is better than bika. its not like joe is some defensive whiz. his defnse is his offense for the most part. kess has a lot of questions but so does joe. its a 50/50 fight imo. kess might not be as god as he looks but imo joe might not be either.
-
Re: Calzaghe: "I'll KO Kessler"
What impresses me most about Joe is his desire after all this time as champ, a long career is most fighters downfalls, either through hard fights or waining interest, Joe just seems to go on and on, in the Bika fight he showed he still has fight in him
Kessler isnt that good, his best wins were against some one who has been sparked by a non puncher, someone who came out of retirement after being beaten in to it over and over and another fighter who had been sparked before, beaten by lesser men and really didnt want to fight any more.
Joe will win, fairly easy, I dont think that Kessler is as much of a threat to Joe as what lacy was, no one was talking about Kessler before the Lacy fight, the hope of Joe being beaten moves on to the next contender
