Obviously Mundine defends his title on the 27th. And in the promotions Johnny Lewis i think it is says "Mundine is on the verge of greatness after this fight, hes predicting Mundine to beat Kessler or Calzaghe and then go down to middleweight and unify". Im a mundine fan. But wtf? I think this may be a bit to much.
I have no doubt it can come true though.

Mundine is an ok fighter, but he gets a serious spanking off Calzaghe and another one off Kessler
I just watched the Calzaghe vs Byron Mitchell (unsure with name) and Calzaghe nearly got KO'd by the bum. Also vs Manfredo he was terrible.Quote:

Mundine is a good fighter, no doubt >>> also a two time WBA champ, but to clean up both smw and middleweight divisions is a tad ambitious - The Kessler v Mundine fight was also a clear cut win for Kessler, it wasnt easy and the shut out on one card is a bit harsh but there's no doubt the bettwe man won (in Mundines backyard as well!)

What you've got to remember is that "The Verge of Greatness" is the nickname of the spot on the road where Mundine hitch-hikes from to get to every fight. What the promoter meant is that he will continue hitch-hiking to his fights.Quote:

I am an Aussie and I am not a Mundine hater as we often get accused of being.
I just think he his behind both Kessler and Calzaghe, he would give both good fights (he already has given Kessler his toughest fight) I don't think he can beat either of them at this point despite some good improvement. On the verge of greatness? If he beats one of those two guys i might think about it.
Mundine has improved tremedously of late... but he is still a long way from greatness. Thing with Mundine is he scores a good win over a top opponent then fights a couple of bums. He needs to keep his competition at a consistent level.
I have no doubt that at this moment he is the biggest threat at SM for Calzaghe or Kessler, he has the ability to score an upset victory over either of them!!!
