Froch vacates Commonwealth strap

Carl Froch has vacated his Commonwealth super-middleweight title in order to ensure he is fully focused on British title challenger Robin Reid.
Froch is determined to rule Britain and Europe before progressing to his end goal of a fight with WBC champion Mikkel Kessler.
Reid remains the only significant threat to his British crown, while a bout with European champion Cristian Sanavia is now on the cards after Froch was made mandatory challenger.
A potential commonwealth defence would only get in the way of his mapped out path to the world title, a path that is becoming clearer all the time says Froch.
"I have said from day one that I want to do things the proper way. That means winning English, British, Commonwealth and European titles before moving on to win genuine world honours," he said.
"Kessler's last mandatory defence was in March and that should mean he has until next March to make another. It seems everything has fallen just right for me.
"By the time Kessler's mandatory should be due, I will have had the time to KO the only other fighter with a reasonable claim to my British title and take out Sanavia."
The name of Kessler could be swapped for that of Joe Calzaghe if negotiations for a unification bout are successful, setting Froch up for a potential all-Britain showdown.
Froch clearly believes Kessler would emerge victorious against Calzaghe though, and he admits he would lose little sleep himself over the prospect of fighting the Welshman.
"Should this mooted fight between Kessler and Calzaghe actually come off and Calzaghe manages to somehow win, I will happily knock him out instead," said Froch

Froch purse bid delayed!
A purse bid for the British title defense of WBC #1, WBO #3 and IBF #4 super middleweight Carl Froch against former WBC champion Robin Reid, which had been scheduled for today, has been delayed in light of the recent surgery Froch has undergone on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

:) For carl Froch to fight Robin Reid i think is a step down the ladder, Reid is past his best and his time as come and gone,Froch will handle Reid with ease, and will be a pointless win, it just goes to show that the best cannot fight the best, in boxing when the fighters are in there prime, Froch should fight either Kessler or Calzaghi or go to the states and fight a top yank, Froch is loyal to his home routes and the people around him, but because of this it looks like he will be frozen out of the bigger fights, while in his prime, and boxing fans will loose out again ;)

Froch is now bang on track for the title i predicted he'd win sooner or later and my money is firmly on a Froch KO.
Kessler won't stand up to his right hand and can use his speed for only so long before the Cobra connects.

Im bloody glad he has done that, Adamu is a backwards step! He will stop Reid i know that for a fact! Reid looked slow and sloppy in his last fight and i truely feel that he wont take the power of my boy ;D. Lets hope he can get in with Kessler by that time because he will deserve it.

Kessler is better all round fighter than Froch yes Froch is powerful but power doesn't win fights and Kessler would win i think Froch is getting overrated at moment he has beaten all domestic fighters so far and has struggled with few of them along the way i would wait until he fights proper world class opponent before you make them kind of statements.

Froch seems to be finding it difficult to get a decent opponent, he's been calling Calzaghe out now for over two years, he had no one on his record then, and nothings changed. He doesn't seem to be fighting the other contenders in the division, we'd no more about him if he'd fight some of the other undefeated fighters in the division, or guys who've been in the ring with Calzaghe/Kessler like Bika or Andrade.
Reid is even a futher step back than Adamu IMO, he was shot 2 years ago and he's even worse now.
I don't think Froch's ready for the big 2, and the way he's progressing he never will be.

not ready!? did you see his last 3 fights? those brutal stoppages that left his fighter on the mat. his last fighter was decent and to be honest i think he should personally go for Inkin but Reid has been opening his mouth saying he would beat Carl. But you wait till they get in the ring, Robin is going to be left on the mat brutal fashion for sure! He will get a shot and his power is amazing at 168! you will see the carl destroy every fighter put in front of him for the time being. His power was enough to stop a decent fighter who was never been stopped before in 2 rounds !!!! you get him with a froch right uppercut, you are going to wobble a lot.

Froch is 30 and hes still talking about facing fighters hes already beaten and has beens
He was offered the Calzaghe fight and regardless of the conditions, he didnt take it
No matter what he his team, you or anyone else says, Carl received a genuine offer and good money to challenge Joe, the only problem was the options clause that frank would have had should Carl win
Frank has already proven to Carl that his career would move under him and that he would be earning twice as much, If carl had any ambition then he would have snapped that offer up but no ! hes content to fight journey men for peanuts
Frochs career is a joke, hes a prospect in his 30's, hes been a pro for over 5 years and still not a sniff of a title challenge

Ok ill give Froch that he looked good in his last fight, well, good result not really impressive because the other guy didnt do much and could have fought on.
Dodson had been stopped before Froch did it and Magee got dropped 4 times by an uninterested Reid a couple of years before Froch tried.
Froch has not really impressed, he has had a very slow burning career and he wont be around much longer because of ghis advanced age for a prospect and the fact that there are a fair few younger prospects coming through.
Froch should have ripped Warrens arm off for the proposed Calzaghe fight
If you were Froch, why wouldnt you take the offer ?

somebody who knocks out an undeafated world title challenger on his home show isnt no bum! Sergey wasnt a bum, he was there to push Carl and he used his power to stop him in 2 one sided rounds! i believe if someone applies that much power and pressure they are going to fall at some stage... Sergey had never been stopped before that fight and carl did it in style showing that he is a decent fighter who is going to do well at the top for sure!
