How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I think its bs personally. One of them he turned around and then fell down, and it looked fake. People have been hit low before and by worse shots (Mayweather against him for one). You get five minutes, and while a low blow can take it out of you I think it was the body shots that did him in not the low blows.

Agreed.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
Judah himself said he was affected by the blows. Believe him or not. Whether or not it made the difference between winning and losing. it's hard to say, but two hard shots in a row has got to have an effect.
One thing worth pointing out is that those weren't borderline low, they were way low.
The one where he spun around and fell, I don't think it was faked because it happened too quickly. It was an automatic reaction imo.
Once a guy is penalized for low blows, what happens if he does it again? DQ?

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
He was wearing a cup and that cup does protect NOT 100% but it does protect.
PBF got low blowed and hit in back of the head as a combo.
He proceded to kick Zabs ass after.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I have been hit in the balls with a lacrosse ball while I was wearing a cup and it hurt like hell. 10 minutes later I still felt a little raw but I kept playing.
Cotto has bricks in his hands. They landed flush and they were painful to watch. I am 100% the low blows effected Zab quite a bit just b/c they came at times when he was showing momentum.
However, I don't blame Cotto and I don't think it takes away from his victory at all. Cotto won convincingly. They simply got him out of trouble when he needed it.
Judah could've rebounded from the low blows, but he choose not to. He decided to linger on them, stop punching and run/get beat down for the rest of the fight.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I don't think the low blows were the difference in the fight, but I don't think Zab was faking it either.
The second one especially landed flush. I don't care if he was wearing a cup or not, it still had to hurt like hell. He should have taken closer to the full 5 minutes to rest though.

The funny thing here is that in the post-fight interview he blamed Mercante Jr. for making him fight and not letting him rest.
Did I miss the part where Mercante rushes him? ???

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I don't understand how they could have really hurt him. Zab Judah as we all know has no balls so why would those punches even have an impact?
-
Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
why the HELL he did not take the 5 mins?

Tszyu wasn't crying his eyes out when he was hit low while on the ground. Zab was. So judge for yourself.
Personally I think they effected him greatly but I won't use it to take away from the performance.
All I've been hearing at college is people calling Cotto the next Trinidad for all the WRONG reasons.
A rematch would settle this but I doubt it ever happens.
Hats off to Cotto. But I would have perferred it if no low blows had happened at all. I HATE HATE HATE to see a great fight tainted by "what could have been"
Thats why we have rematches. Like Pryor rematching Arguello and such to settle these things.
I would like to see the same thing here but it will not happen.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I don't see the need for a rematch here, what would it prove? What would Zab do differently? It would be incredibly pointless imo. Zab got his ass beaten worse than ever before,he's just looking for excuses to secure another payday,a payday which he knows will be difficult to achieve from now on.

Well it depends. Sometimes it don't bother you and you just fight on. . however I have had a cup shift on me do to a low blow.. It can have a lasting effect, and when that’s the case I usually retaliate to even the playing field. not to be malicious, just to make it even. I want my opponent to fight under the same conditions.

Let's wish Zab good luck in his next fight on TeleFutura.
LMAO!

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I am no Judah fan by any stretch.. I thought Zab did himself proud to be honest. Judah would have beat many a challenger last Saturday night. Great action packed fight for the fans ..

I doubt it. He seems to be the fighter HBO wants on their network nowadays. Hell Gatti is fighting Gomez. I'm sure Zab will be back.

Dude you killed me with that... I laughed so hard I choked on my gum. But yeah... a well landed low blow can affect you. One time during a friendly sparring I got hit with a low blow... it really zapped the energy out of me. Also it affected me mentally because I was so paranoid about getting hit there again.
I'm definetely not taking anything away from Cotto because he owned Judah in the fight. Plus we all know good ol' super Judah tends to fade away as the rounds goes by.
He should have taken the whole 5 mins. and rebounded.... Well that's what separates the men from the little boys. But I still give him props for the fight.

Dasamm says the same thing...
"However, I don't blame Cotto and I don't think it takes away from his victory at all. Cotto won convincingly. They simply got him out of trouble when he needed it." ??? :-\
plenty of contradictions here.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
if you guys watch the replay of that 2nd low blow you can see zab pushing cottos back down which caused him to get hit. real talk no bs..

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I think the low blows affected Zab a lot. I'm not saying Cotto needed 'em to win, but I think at least the first one was one of those accidentally/on purpose type deals. And it was interesting that both came when Zab was starting to pick it up.
As a boxer, I can tell you that low blows can be almost paralyzing. You don't even have to get hit in the balls. If you catch one right above your tube steak, it can send bolts of pain throughout your entire torso. Think about anytime you've been hit in the nuts, and then think about if you got hit as hard as Cotto punches. Also, your body releases endorphines/adrenaline to deal with the pain/shock. Adrenaline and endorphines you could probably use later in a 12 round championship bout.
I'm not saying at all that Cotto wouldn't have won, but I think Zab would have fought better if not for the LB's.
And no one can say this is a biased post or that I'm a Zab nut-hugger. While I'm not a huge fan of either guy, I like Cotto better than Zab, and I'm on record on this board several times as saying Zab should be declared an honorary Mayweather for his antics.
Props to Zab though for going out on his shield this time and showing a little warrior spirit and not melting down and trying to KTFO Mercante or something.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
The low blows could have changed the tenor of the fight, but Judah should prepare for it.
-
Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
And how precisely does one prepare for getting hit in the testes? I don't know about your gym, but at any gym I've been to, we didn't exactly run punching each other in the nuts drills.

CC Danny. That was funny. And that might be the truth. Zab is just an opponent now in my opinion.. Well maybe one loss from opponent status.

Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
I agree that getting hit in the nuts hurts, but you can deal with it. All boxers if they can get to that level are tough regardless, and all of them can deal with getting hit in the nuts. I mean most small boxers hit hard have gone through fights with broken hands at some point before and that would hurt a lot more than getting hit in the nuts.
-
Re: How much did those low blows really take out of Judah?
The first one...meh The second one, you bet your ars that hurt. Did it affect him? It must have in some level. Would it have made a difference?...I don't really think so.
