I find this interesting but I guess Roach is the best guy in the game to get his fighter conditioned. B-Hops trainer Nazim Richardson had a stroke recently and hasn't been able to train him but Bernard says hell be in his corner the night of the fight..maybe with Roach I'm guessing. Sounds like Roach has a good thing going with Golden Boy. I think Oscar will continue with him if he fights again.
trainers are like fads. Seems like a particular trainer gets notice every few years and top fighters then go to him to get him into shape.. It is the fighter who fights not the trainer.Quote:

I forgot about McGirt being in demand. Wasn't that due to Tarver?? I always respect guys like Hagler who kept his trainers the Petronellis his whole career. I always feel sorry for a trainer who was with a guy since he was a kid, and the guy gets to be a big time boxer and he fires the trainer.Quote:

Hes a great trainer but after he tried to have Gatti outbox Mayweather he lost a little credibility imo, but hes still a great trainer no doubt.Quote:

Yeah at this stage a new trainer isnt guna make a fighter a whole lot different . When Tyson was training for the Holyfield return they boughy Ricthie Giachetti again and tried to bring back the basics . A fighter doesnt need that at the late stage in their career . If anything it will make them worse . Hopkins has his strategy is in his head I am sure . Roach is there simply to overview it and add his slight adjustments to it .Quote:

Always felt the same with Toney and Freddie Roach. Toney didn't need to be taught how to box, he just needed Roach to make sure he came into each fight in top shape. :-\
