Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
ESPN.COM
"Oscar told me he's not hanging them up, but we have not talked about who, when or where. But it won't be a rematch with Floyd Mayweather," Schaefer said. "Oscar's thoughts about a Mayweather rematch are 'Been there, done that.' Most people felt like it was a close fight and that Oscar came to fight. [Many] fans believe Oscar won the fight. He hasn't discussed who. He doesn't want to discuss any opponents right now. But when I said, 'What about the Mayweather rematch,' he said, 'No.' Oscar is not going to fight Mayweather again. "
I hope he is willing to give younger fighters a chance to shine. If not,he should retire. I'm glad to see he's not fighting Floyd again.

I am so relieved to hear this. Oscar has nothing to prove in a rematch, he fought a competitive fight but age has caught up to him and mayweather is in his prime. Oscar still has enough left in him to beat lot of good fighters like hatton, cotto, margarito but a rematch with floyd will be utter humiliation.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
Well who is he going to fight then seems like a waste of time if he isn't fighting any of the top names i think he should just retire.
-
Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
He should fight Hatton because he would beat an undefeated champion and wht better way to go out.

Oscar almost always fights top names, im sure he will fight a top name next cause thats where the money is and he could use a good win right now

I hope he comes after Hatton if he wins next Saturday because I bet Oscar thinks he can win that one. If he thinks he can beat Hatton he might come over to England to try it.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
Whenever I hear Oscar's name I automatically want to vomit.
He says he doesn't want to fight Floyd again but we all know that's the fight his greedy little money grabbing black heart most desires.
Mark my words, a couple months from now he'll go on another nice boat trip, out to the desrt where he'll do his usual fasting and praying.
Then he'll return, tell us that the Lord spoke to him and that he said he must rematch Floyd for the good of all mankind.
His likely $30 million dollar payday will of course not factor into Oscar's decision making at all ::**

I am also. Means Floyd will have to fight someone like Shane or Margarito or Cotto. I know I am mentioning 147 pound guys but Floyd cannot fight much at 154.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
good that he ain't rematching mayweather because kinda pointless. mayweather would beat him again. the thing that has got me wondering is who can he fight ?
-
Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
This is good for two reasons:
1. Immediate rematches are always a waste of time.
2. Oscar is making this public in an attempt to get Floyd to get serious about negotiating with Shane (another Golden Boy fighter).
As long as the rematch was a possibility, Floyd would have been focused on it. Now that he knows it's not happening, he has to start looking at Shane.

I hope it is not Tito. That is another worthless rematch. Honestly is there anyone really exciting for Oscar to fight? I do not think so really. Maybe Margarito. My money is on the fact that he will be an interested spectator at the Margarito/Williams fight next month.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
I am just happy this fight between PBF and ODLH is not going to happen.
No one wants to see Chicken Boy Floyd run all night and put people to sleep.
He should change his name to Chloroform.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
I reckon Oscar is pulling our leg again, the only money fight for him now is Floyd 2!
Who is he going to fight? Winky at 160? He'd get creamed!
He has lost 5 fights now and at 34 it's almost over, nup it's Floyd 2 whether we like it or not.

don't know..I'd like to see ODLH avenge that B.S. loss to Tito......then he could go against SSM.....I think a PBF vs SSM fight would be fantastic!!!!

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
If Oscar is to carry on fighting,I want to see him fight some of the younger lions like Cotto,or the winner of the WW tournament.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
I love de la hoya and use to respect but dislike pbf..
but before the fight de la hoya was saying how he wanted to help boxing and wanted to be known for fighting the best.. and as a boxing and de la hoya fan that is important for me to hold him to that.. the answer to both of those statements is floyd mayweather.. rarely does two top fighters fight and get a split decision and the winner almost immediately grants a rematch only for the loser (dlh) to turn away..
if he wants to fight the best (pbf) if he wants to help get boxing more fans and exposure (pbf) is the answer.. if de la hoya fought anyone else it would forever change my opinion of him..
all due credit to the cocky, mouthy, slick, smooth, polished, virtuoso Pretty boy Floyd Mayweather who made me more proud by accepting the challenge after the fight than during the fight.. De la hoya should do the same.. A victory against anyone else is irrelevant

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
Oscar is playing games. He should then try and beat Cotto and if he cannot retire. He has been given so many chances over the years.

Re: Oscar to return but not to rematch Floyd.
I think Oscar-Tito II will happen.
Tito used to say there was no way he would fight again. But I read recently he is saying it is 50-50.
You know Oscar is trying to woo Tito hardcore..

"Recently, rumors have surfaced regarding a possible comeback by former pound-for-pound great, Felix “Tito” Trinidad. Puerto Rican newspapers have recently hinted that he’s interested in making a comeback which has caused a lot of chatter in the boxing community. Furthermore, recent reports have even suggested Trinidad has been sparring with former conqueror, Ronald “Winky” Wright."
