What does Zab Judah do now??
Yes he lost to Cotto, but as it sounds he gave a lot of heart (my flight got cancelled and i missed the fight :'( ) Could this be a blessing in disguise for Zab, proving to the public and himself that he does have heart thus making him a more marketable fighter?? or is his career over?? do yall think the low blows and headbutts took a lot from Zab and ultimately changing the outcome of the fight?? i'll put my response on later ,but what do yall think??

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
• The Sept. 7 season finale of "Friday Night Fights" (ESPN2) will be a big show. It will be 2½ hours instead of two and headlined by Zab Judah, who is wasting no time returning from his memorable 11th-round TKO loss to Miguel Cotto on June 9 in the possible fight of the year. The tripleheader from the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss., a few minutes outside of Memphis, Tenn., also will include a pair of rising prospects, brothers Anthony and Lamont Peterson, who have been ESPN2 mainstays during their rise up the ladder. Opponents aren't set.

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
He'll do what everyone does after a big loss. He'll beat up on some no-names, and then a year or so from now, he'll be back in another decent fight.
We all know by now that Zab will never be an elite fighter, but he has a big name and a flashy style, so he'll always be able to find fights.
He could always rematch Cotto a year or two down the road. A third fight with Spinks wouldn't shock me either.

TALK ABOUT NAILING IT!!
Cory Spinks is headed back to 154 pounds, where he holds a title, after an unsuccessful jump to 160 pounds on May 19, when he lost a close decision to middleweight champion Jermain Taylor.
"And we'd be willing to bring Zab [Judah] back to St. Louis for a trilogy. Even though Zab lost (to Miguel Cotto last week), the guy showed more guts than I have seen a lot of fighters show in a long time. He had his moments and he took a lot of punishment. If he didn't have the heart of champion he could have quit, and he didn't."
CC man!!

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
He can still beat some people, but yeah he's not elite, he's not going to be.
Focused or not, he just makes too many mistakes. With his athletic ability he should really be much harder to hit than he is.
But there are fights out there for him. He's just not very good against strong pressure fighters that can deal with his punch. Go with the Spinks formula, find somebody where he can press the fight, not have to worry about getting caught. Why not Malignaggi, its New York, I'd favor Judah in that one.

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
It was interesting to hear that Pernell wants to work with Judah.
I would love to see this.
I think Pernell could help Judah.
As long as Pernell does not introduce Judah to drugs, all will be good.
I know that comment sounds kind of mean but we can not escape the reality of this truth.
Drug addiction is cunning, baffling and powerfull.
Good luck to the both of them if they team up.

I'm pretty sure Pernell and Zab have already worked together at some point??

They have but it has been a very long time according to Pernell's comments made last night on FNF.

Zab signed with Main Events back in the mid-90's when Pernell was still fighting. Zab, Fernando Vargas, and Gatti all used to work out and train with Pernell.

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
I feel like Zab needs to change his corner completely to compete at a world championship level..I dont think he comes in with a good game plan and definatley doesn't adjust during the fight...I dont think Yoel Judah is getting the best out of his son....I think his best bet is 1-2 tune ups and go after Spinks...if he wins it will put him right back in the mix.

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
he should be fighting a noob fighter before facing anyone decent

incredible to schedule a fight so soon after a brutal stoppage. Emanual Steward always said the key for a fighter to recover fully from being knocked out or having a tough fight is to take a 6 months and over rest after being stopped badly. After the Hagler fight Hearns was off for 11 months. Did him well. He seemed to need the rest. Some people think differently but a long rest can also give the fighter a fresher feeling and not have the knockout so clear in his mind.

It is weird to come back so quick after a brutal fight.
Zab has done this before though. After he lost to Spinks (which wasn't a bloody fight but was a loss), he took only a month off and then fought Pineda, and he fought one of the worst fights of his career. Zab was awful that night against Pineda.

Rafael Pineda? That guy is a hard puncher if it is the same Pineda. I think it is better to take a rest and regroup. That is why I think guys get a different trainer when they lose sometimes. Just so they can blame the old trainer for the loss and convince themselves that it was not them. And taking a rest helps them do that and feel good again physically and mentally.

Yes, Rafael.
I didn't know Pineda was still fighting. He fought Mark Breland in I think 1987 and then he fought Roger Mayweather and knocked him out. I think Pernell Whitaker outboxed him.

Yes, he KO'd Mayweather, then he got shutout by Whitaker at 140 pounds. After that, he retired for about 4 years, then he came back at 147/154. The Zab fight was his last fight.

well I hope he stays retired. He demolished Roger Mayweather, although most guys who connected on Roger's chin got the win.

Zab weighed in at 145lb for the Cotto fight, maybe he can still make 140? Hatton??

I thought about this too, but I doubt it for two reasons:
1. Zab looked to be in outstanding condition for the Cotto fight, yet still weighed 5 pounds above 140. He would have to really drain himself to make 140 at this point.
2. There are more big money fights at 147 than 140.

Who would fight him at 147 that would generate more money than a Hatton fight at 140? Just curious

I don't see why Hatton would have any interest in fighting Judah. If he beats Castillo, I think Hatton looks for a BIG money fight against Floyd, or fights someone like Witter at 140.
Other than Hatton, there aren't any big money fights at 140. They are all at 147.
I don't think Zab can make that weight anyway.
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
I'd like to see Judah take on some guys that would give me just enough that he'll be able to handle and give use a good show. I don't think it would be in Judah's best interests to take on every mountain that steps in the ring but he showed he still has a lot left in the tank when he showed us a lot in his fight with Cotto. I think a Zab Judah, Allen Green fight at 147, or a match with Joe C. would do him a world of good not to mention get his confidence back into the game.

What I mean is Judah would have interest in fighting Hatton for the big money (if thats what he wanted) because I don't see who else at 147 would fight him that would enable Judah to generate more money than a Hatton fight. If that makes sense.

Judah is dangerous for Hatton theres no real benefit for Hatton beating Judah except he would be in for a tough fight and there would be even more critics

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
This was a make or break fight for Zab and he lost it, so thats not good for his career. I'd say his options are:
Joshua Clottey
Kermit Cintron
Rematch with Baldomir
Rematch with Spinks
Luis Collazo
Arturo Gatti
loser of Williams vs. Margarito fight, so
Paul Williams
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
I think he should go after Malignaggi at 140. He has the speed to go with Paulie, and he has more power.
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
Zab earned more from this fight than any other.
I don't see his popularity dimming, but rather rising from his surprisingly courageous effort.
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
A fight with Cintron would be a barn burner....You gotta like his chances against Baldo, and Collazo. I'd make him a favorite but not overwhelming against Gatti and Clottey. I think Williams and Margarito would both beat him...If I were Zab I'd get a knew corner...Someone who is a better trainer and someone who is going to push him. Then I'd take a easy fight and try to rematch Baldo....follow that up with a rubber match with Spinks. If he were to win those fight I'd think he'd be right back in the mix for big money fights

I don't think Judah can beat Clottey, the pressure would be too much. That reminds me, Duran's boy, Richard Guittarez I think his name is, he beat up on Teddy Reid a while back, whats become of Guittarez now? He had a great war with Clottey about a year ago, and barely lost, he could still be a force at 147 or 154lbs. Judah could fight him too, but I highly doubt that every going down.

He fought well to be honest. He was not hit really clean until he was knocked down in the later rounds -Cotto started to land that left uppercut/hook and that was when Judah was stopped. But Cotto was slowly overwhelming Judah and wearing him out like Hagler used to wear guys out, just with sheer strength. But then the punches started to land clean and Judah couldn't take it. But good effort. I think Judah is a good fighter but he is not great. He still lacks a certain instinct which a great fighter has to pore it on when he has to to win a fight.
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
like everybody go to freddie roach
-
Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
He should, chill out his attitude and thug lifestyle and start jabbing more and he should fight someone like Ricky Hatton or Sechew Powell.
Yoel Judah actually gave Zab some good advice during the Cotto fight and Zab showed some heart....he just needs to throw more punches, you can't win without throwing punches even if you are a defensive fighter

I think Malignaggi would beat him at 140.. Malignaggi has no power and that might be good for Judah in that his chin might be able to take it, but Judah seems to pose alot and I think Malignaggi would win a decision by his boxing skills and landing punches. Judah still has to prove he can fight again at 140, and really he has to prove that he can fight well after the beating he took from Cotto. If he gets his confidence back he can still fight well.

Re: What does Zab Judah do now??
Judah vs Hatton could be a good fight.
