I would rather see the winner of Hatton and Castillo. I personally like this better if it was Hatton. But I would love to see Mayweather as well.

Well if Margarito wins, it's going to be Margarito. That's already agreed upon.
Torres isn't an option. Cotto is going to be fighting big money fights now. Torres isn't a big money fight.
I would add Williams, Dela Hoya, and Mosley on your list.
But for mega-buck fight and lesser bodily harm for Cotto,... I would like to see him against PBF.
It has to be Margo, let's expose this Margo myth for what it is!
if i could match make here i would go for Cotto -vs- Clottey... that match has fight of the year on it . Two exceptional fighters working the art of in fighting.
It has to be Margarito it's the natural fight for both of them. If he gets past Margarito then Mosely should beckon, win that and Floyd wouldn't be able to avoid fighting him.
Why Hatton and Castillo are on the list is a mystery to me though, why would Cotto want to go backwards?
cotto-margo would be fight of the year canidate
and i think cotto will smoke him
and i think that would bring mayweather out of "retirement"
possibly bring as many viewers as floyd-de la hoya and definatly would be a better fight
Mayweather Cotto wouldn't get anywhere near the figures of Mayweather De La Hoya.Quote:

Bilbo: I love the post O0
with cotto beating margo, cotto would be to the next PR great, still a fresh face, fame rising by the month.. I know it was a real bold statement to say cotto-pbf is close to dlh-pbf but i truelly think cotto will be much more famous a year from now and alot of people will think he can actually beat pbf.. by this time next year i think the fight could be just as big as the pbf-dlh..
of course i might be wrong ;D
This time next year Oscar and Floyd will be fighting again thats guaranteed, after his second successive defeat Oscar will retire (hopefully), build a shrine to himself in Mexico where his simple fans will believe he lives and performs healing miracles whilst disregarding the fact that he is actually still working in boxing as a leech sucking promoter.Quote:

I feel he has that something to him that "it" factor that might make him the most popular in the sport very soon.. but margo would have to beat p. williams, convincingly would be even better and if cotto in return beat margo in his typical brutal fashion, then i feel like if he works on his head movement and to not lunge in, with his left hand down, when he has someone on the ropes, exposing his avg chin he could beat anyone.. he has endless of mega-fight opportunities lying ahead.. being in the best division in boxing
I just had a thought... i am making a prediction that cotto and berto might be the fight of the year in ohhhhhhhh lets say 2009
and boxing will be bigger than ever :o
we can all hope
Hopefully Amir Khan will be big on the world scene then as well. He probably won't be big enough to get to welter, at least not that soon but he should be threatening Ricky Hattons reign at 140 lb by then.Quote:

Definitely Margarito(which is most likely IF Tony beats PW).It would be FOTY and the winner would be the best WW on the planet imo.
That will be a hrd night for you though, with your two biggest idols going head to head, who is your heart rooting for?Quote:

Loving the post here Fire CC in 24.
I pretty much agree. Cotto has a huge fanfare right now with all the New Yorkers and Puerto Ricans at his back, and Floyd has never faced that big Puerto Rican fighter before and he's talked about a bunch how much he wants to face Tito. So why not Cotto? I think the fight will be HUGE, and I think it's made in 2008. If not, Cotto - Berto 09. Berto has already been featured in a Playboy interview and has been in GQ a couple times now, I see him being a guy who could really be a Mayweather type star with a more crowd pleasing style.
As for his immediate next fight, has to be the winner of Margarito - Williams. The welterweight division is so fast moving, he has got to fight the winner of those two or risk being left out of the big fight picture like Mosley is in danger of.
Great call LG on Clottey, that never crossed my mind, what a bout that would be.
Yeah the spell checker does some weird things now and again.Quote:

His people should go for Margarito next, while Mosley fights Mayweather. I would like to see Hatton-Cotto but Hatton is a 140 lber i can't see him moving up to welter again.
Hatton , because we been waiting for this for years, and we do not know who is best yet! It could start gearing up as the best at LWelter agsinst the best at Welter with a bit of imagination...
I chose Margarito, though it really should be winner of Margarito - Williams, as has been said many times before, this is FAR from an easy W for Margo.
Mallignaggi (Spelling????) and Torres would be a step back. Cotto should only move forward to bigger and brighter things from now on.
Though the winner of Hatton - Castillo is not a step back, it is not excactly a step forward eather. Hatton needs to win this fight convincingly and than prove that he can handly 147 before taking a fight with Cotto. Cotto shouldn't even think about moving back to 140, it would just be playing into Hatton's hands.
Mosley should be added to this list. And if he was in it, I would've picked Mosley. What a statement that would make if Cotto beat him. This would be a real thriller and candidate for fight of the decade if you asked me.
Cotto should, and most probably will, fight the winner of Margarito: Williams.
I wouldnt mind the winner of that against Mosley, in might may very well be the last fight for "sugar" Shane...
Obviously if Margarito wins they already have to face each other, and IMO is going to be a hell of a fight, even better than the one against Zab, but I would love to see how Cotto can handle Sugar Shane. :)
Place this thread on Ice until after July 15th. Less yo-yo speculating ....Quote:
