Hatton says Castillo fight will be like Tszyu battle

Ricky Hatton received international acclaim with his impressive stoppage win in June 2005 over the great Kostya Tszyu, who was considered one of the best boxers in the world pound for pound at the time. It was a memorable boxing battle in Manchester, UK in front of a sell out crowd. This Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, the ‘Hitman’ is expecting another thrilling battle.

Hatton needs to shine. He has had 2 sub par performances. The critics have their knives sharpened. He needs to look good. Hopefully, it will be a fight where Hatton is pushed to perform.

That's exactly what I thought. He needs to win while pleasing the fans , otherwise he's going to have a hard time finding a good fight in US again. He's in Vegas for the first time so he needs to give the crowd another superb performance.

As much as I like Castillo, age will be a big factor against him, and I believe that Hatton will take advantage of this and will outwork him for 12 whole rounds if Castillo lasts that long.

Tszyu battle is when he peaked, I don't know if he can fight like that again.

collazo and urango was champs at two different divisions.. far from c rated fighters ..... journeyman are c rated fighters

no other jr. welter could beat them two in consecutive order which is never mentioned.. i'm not saying he put on great performances but believe me if he smokes castillo those performances will all be forgotten as an anomaly and he will probably jump to possibly top 5 p4p

This is what I am thinking. Alot of people think Castillo's experience will win him the fight, but Hatton is not inexperienced at all. So he knows how to fight top guys and he has good skills. I think Hatton wins a late knockout like I said earlier. Castillo will be outclassed.

This fight is going to be decided by ricky hattons attitude on the night. Should Ricky arrive fully motivated to fight to his potential he will win this fight and in a convincing fashion. I would suspect an Attritional Tko somewhere in the regions of 8-11.
However if ricky comes in with the negative attitude he showed against Collazo or in the later half of the Urango fight, castillo will take his oppurunity to capatilise and snatch rounds perhaps taking the decision.

I'm hoping and praying Ricky is well up for this one.

I can't say how the fight will be like cause I am not a fortune teller and neither is Ricky ;). But one thing I can tell and that is that the all scenario for this one is quite different from the Manchester 2005 fight, Ricky is not an up-coming Light Welter hungry Title challenger but a former two time IBF Light Welter Champ and a meaningless IBO Light Welter Titlist now, both Hatton and Castillo are fighting for the right to meet the Top fighters one divison up in weight and they will not definitely stay at 140 lbs no matter who wins this one, and finally Jose Luis Castillo in 2007 is a very different fighter from the opponent Kostya Tszyu presented in 2005... All factors mentioned are xtremely important here but to abbreviate, I would say that Ricky will come out charging in with sharp short left hooks like against Collazo or against Urango and close the range but when he gets to know he really can't do anything else but to tag Jose Luis first and stay, he'll get much more defensive from that point on... I don't believe Castillo can win but I also can't see Ricky going for all or nothing here when there are big money fights ahead of him with a simple win ( he can stretch himself against Cotto, Mosley or Mayweather) - the only thing that may be different from his last two outings is that he may not grab and immobilize his opponent so much and fight a lil bit more inside.

i can only see this fight bein on the inside this is where hatton and castillo like to be. thats why i think it cant be a bad fight i have great respect for both fighters but i just see hatton bein to strong for castillo. as for hatton bein up for this fight im sure he will castillos a big name and if hatton loses (which im certain he wont) then i dont no what he will do. i think this his his last fight of his three fight deal with hbo. will they renew his contract. that aside im goin for a hatton stoppage between 9-12. it wouldnt surprise me if hatton dropped castillo for the first time either.but either way the fight gos u no these two great fighters will go out on there shield if they have to.THIS IS WAR

Every day it gets closer i get more excited... seen the first fight with castillo-corrales last night; castillo might be the best fighter hatton has faced. i think he might be better than kostya at this point, or atleast equal, im not sure..

i'm glad both warriors accepted the fight.. that alone should be appreciated in todays boxing

it wont be in native england, this one is in las vegas, anyting can happen!

For me, I think Tzuyu was a bigger challenge than Castillo, based on JLC's recent appearances, but if vintage Castillo turns up then it could be a FOTY contender. HAtton also needs to show more than recent fights, and if both do then it could be even better than the Tzuyu fight. However, if they both give the same performance as their last fights, it will just be a reasonable fight.
