Absolutely he has a shot. Pacman is one of the most exciting fighters in the world but he's certainly not the best technically.
plus for all the talk about Manny's punching power I reckon Soto will come into this the stronger guy.
He's never been stopped in a 50 fight career and is still only 27.
By far Manny's toughest fight to date imo.
Morales was done, Barrera had been in the oven a long time, Marquez should have beat him.
I'll take a look at the betting odds closer to the time and may well have a flutter on Soto to win.
thanks for your opinion, negatice and positive comments is highly appreciated
No problem. Are your going to give own views on this fight or are you just doing a quick survey?
Im a filipino,so difinitely I'm fo pacman,I saw him how hard he trained for the fight and always plays basketball for his stamina with or without upcoming fight, but i want to hear negative comments about him, I dont want to be bias about soto and pac,its alread Pac and Soto, not Guzman or Marquez for his next fight, so lets talk about them from now on . . .
I think it's interesting how Soto reemerged in this 2007. He was the ho item after beating Juarez in that very good 2005 bout, his name kind of floated around a bit and just as he was about to wash away and be forgotten, he comes and KO's some guy named Humbert Toledo whom nobody knew anything about and he's the lovechild yet again. Go figure how that works but hey, he's an exciting fighter.
However, I don't know if he's got the goods to beat Pacquiao. He's a good fighter, he's kind of a crazy fighter which was not what everyone thought of him before he faced Juarez, he is a pressure fighter. In the win over Juarez and every one since, he has done his work moving forward. He has a good left hook coming forward and a right hand that seems to come from a different angle every time he throws it.
The thing is, I don't think he's going to be able to pressure Pacquiao like he has done all the others. It's always interesting when you have two pressure fighters who fight coming forward from the outside. You know they probably aren't going to go shoulder to shoulder at all especially Pacquiao and Soto who fire off from all angles.
It's all a matter of who can make it their fight, and I think Pacquiao is just better suited to make this his fight. He's faster then Soto and has more then enough power and a deep enough punch arsenal to keep Soto guessing and honest.
I think it would be a fight that has it's moments, but I'm not going to take any fighter to back Pacquiao up and beat him which is what I think Soto has to do. Maybe he would try to time Pacquiao coming in a bit like he did in spots with Juarez but I don't see that being enough and I don't see Soto having any real deterrent to stop Pacquiao from moving forward.
Soto would take it very seriously though and he is a very game fighter, and Pacquiao's focus has to be called into question a bit after a seemingly uninspired performance against Solis and bad reports all around from his camp.
It would be an interesting fight, Soto COULD beat Pacquiao, it would just require something from him that hasn't been tested yet so I'm a little apprehensive. I'm all for the fight though, it would be entertaining.
simple answer is no he wont beat pac
some of you say how Marquez should have beat him , but he is a much better fighter since then , i ll put my head on the chopping block with my view , but PACMAN wins inside 9 for me :)
I'll lay down on the block next to you and say that no way in hell will Pacquaio knock Soto out.Quote:

I think Pacquiao can win a decision but if I've got any doubts about either of them not making it to the finish line, they are not with Humberto Soto
Ok fair point lets wait and see after the fight :):):):):):):)Quote:

As a pacfan, I myself think Pac still has a lot of flaws.
But he's only 28 and still have a lot of time to master all kinds of technics for better skills.
As for Soto, he wouldn't last 6 rounds against Pac. Pac's power and speed will overwhelm him.
Soto must NOT brawl with Pac in order to win.
Pinoyako, it'll be a battle.
Soto used to be my best kept secret. heheh Me and a few hardcore fans always knew he was the real deal for a couple of years. Since his last fight, people are just starting to notice. It's not hype. He's real.
I predict that Soto will win at least one round. And if he can do that, he certainly has a chance. The thing about Soto is, he is known to get side tracked for a brief moment then get caught with a good punch. Soto, to his credit, has always comes back and fought the next round as if nothing happened. He reminds me of Erik Morales. Not as gifted, but has a heart as big as Mexico. It's not an accident that he fights similiar to Morales, he used to be Morale's sparring partner. Back when Rocky Juarez was still good, Soto practically shut him out, and aggressively too.
Pacquiao will win, by 9th round tko. No matter what, it's the one of the most exciting matchups of the year. But I'm rooting for Soto, hoping he catches Pacquiao off guard... which has been known to happen.... Pacquiao does come in overconfident at times, along with his trainer Roach.
I'm hoping Soto wins a decision in a CLASSIC.
soto took a solid left hook from juarez and took it well, i'm worried for pac. soto can win.
juarez lost to mab twice
mab lost to pac
If Juarez was Pac that night, Pac would've followed up with more 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, power combination clean shots in 3 seconds. Blistering speed baby! Pac the vicious finisher.Quote:

Pacquiao would be the favorite, but Soto would definitely have a good shot at an upset.
HEY The_One 77 ::** MORON!
Soto was looking good vs Bobby up until he got hit . He was quick on his feet , his combos were tight and compact and he looked like he had a good boxing brain . After he got tagged though , I wasnt impressed . He would get hit vs Pac and I wonder if he'd go into his shell . Fortunatley Bobby was cut and has a history of quitting in fights . Pac though would keep it up and Mannys right hook is more dangerous than his bros .
You'd have to make Manny a favourite but Soto has a chance if an unprepared Pac turns up .

He also,as mentioned by Gyro, has lapses in concentration. This would cost him v Manny. I believe Soto can give Pacman a tough fight but I also believe would be favourite and would eventually win. I'd say 8th round tko to Pacman but to merely dismiss Soto as an alsoran would be to Manny's peril. Soto is dangerous.
IF Manny won,he would give alot of kudos from me. I already love watching the Pacman fight and his resume is impressive but I'm one of those calling for him to fight some of the oynuger hungrier guys like Guzman,Soto etc(IF his fight with JMM cannot be made). Credit to him if he wins, especially if he does it impressively.
Up
So? That logic is useless in boxing. Juarez hits harder than Pacquaio. However speed is key element in Pacquaio being able to take people out with punches they don't see.Quote:

I think it is going to be a good and exciting fight to watch (not the best match-up in terms of monies, but nevertheless). I agree with the others that Soto would definitely give Manny problems and may even pull-out an upset if he lands a "perfect punch" (my apologies for using this term . . .a term that will be oft repeated because of the Hatton - Castillo bout). As such, I see a win for Pacman. My money is on him.
I think Soto goes the distance. But that's about it.
