Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
sunday 24th june 2007
Ricky Hatton last night sensationally stopped Mexico’s Jose Luis Castillo in the 3rd round of their IBO light welterweight title fight. Hatton took the fight to Castillo from the first bell and the brave but outgunned Mexican had no answer to Hatton’s swarming assault suffering knockdowns in both the first and second rounds before a brutal left hook to the body left him gasping for breath and unable to beat the count of ten. The official time was 1 minute and 46 seconds of round three. Hatton after the fight dedicated his win to British comedian Bernard Manning who sadly died on Monday.

This is more how I see it. (Ricky Hatton last night stopped Mexico’s Jose Luis Castillo in the 7th round of their IBO light welterweight title fight in what some call a candidate for fight of the year. Hatton took the fight to Castillo from the first bell and the brave Mexican traded punches to Hatton’s swarming assault suffering knockdowns in the 2nd and 7th rounds before a brutal left hook to the body left Castillo gasping for breath. Castillo got up at the count of 8, Hatton then resumed his assault forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight in round 7. The official time was 2 minute and 46 seconds of round seven.)

Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
There is no chance of Hatton stopping Castillo in 3 rounds. I am a passionate Hatton fan and I think he may well win by stoppage towards the end of the fight.
But 3rd round is ridiculous - Hatton NEVER stops people so early. He is an attritional puncher not a concussive puncher (ie he wears people down). How can you write such nonsense?

Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
i dont see ricky KOING Castillo either
-
Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
could be a mancini vs chacon type fight, done rule it out
-
Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
I would say out of the 2 its Castillo who has the KO power so if anyone was to get stopped that early it would be Hatton but Hatton as a good chin as does Castillo this will more than likely hear the final bell

... and I wake up and stop smoking crack.

Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
Since when is Hatton a big puncher? Since when does Castillo have a susceptible chin?
Last night Hatton hugged his way into a decision loss.

Castillo has NEVER hit the canvas before, you think Hatton will knock him down in the first round?
NO WAY, I don't care how much you favor Hatton, you have obviously never watched Castillo.

Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
As much as I would love to see Hatton KO Castillo I just dont think it is gonna happen, Castillo is a warrior with a good chin, its gonna go 12 rounds with Hatton winning a UD but outworking Castillo in the later rounds but Castillo taking some serious punishment.

Way off base on this one. Castillo never went down to Corrales in the first fight. In fact I'm not sure if Jose Luis Castillo has been knocked down at all recently, I know he had some early TKO losses. I don't see Hatton knocking him down. I like JL Castillo in 10, TKO.

Hatton is very very intense and determined. I think that is his biggest asset. If Castillo is sharp and comes to fight we might see a great great matchup. But Hatton has it all with the exception of one punch knockout power.

Re: Hatton ko's Castillo in three rounds
no chance!! castillo is no way goin to get KO'd in three. not a chance with a chin and a heart like that.

My point here was that Castillo is the one with KO punch Hatton has'nt got a KO punch he's mainly workrate so it would take him alot longer than 3 rounds to wear Castillo down if anyone could get the KO in the 3rd it would be Castillo

Jorge Paez
Stevie Johnston
Floyd Mayweather Jr
Joel Cassamayor
Juan Lazcano
Julio Diaz

Let me guess. Hatton's fighting cuz he loves the sport so much (and gets to hug on another man all night). Right? Of course Castillo fighting for the money. And so is fucking Hatton. If you ain't fighting for the money what the fuck is there really to fight about?

I he fights mosely at 147 hatton will lose on points as hes a natural 140lb fighter theres no way hatton should give weight away to mosely. cotto he could fight at 147 and i think hatton would stop him in 6 rounds. I think if floyd could get down to say 143 then hatton could walk him down and beat him on a close points decision. hatton would lose a lot of early rounds but would catch up with pretty boy in the later rounds.
