I voted yes. I believe that once Calzaghe has retired, Kessler will look for big fights elsewhere and will prob have to vacate for not defending against a mandatory. It'll give Manfredo a route in and I think he'll eventually get one. He's young and has plenty of time.
No,will never happen
He cant beat Kessler or Calzaghe
Manfredo`s best chance are Berrio, but i think Berrio will KO him
Perhaps he can be WBF-champ ;D ;D ;D

no i dont think so. He hasnt got the power like the other guys at 168. I believe after JC has left Carl Froch will be the man to beat at 168 for sure.
And Lucian ButeQuote:

yer Bute, Froch, Inkin, Kessler and JC need to fight each other somehow or another. we really need to see who is at the top of these guys. I hope Inkin, bute or Froch can all cross paths this year for sure. i think froch is the best though out of those 3Quote:

We all know my answer 8) Defense agaist the right was leaky last night!
While I don't feel that Manfredo Jr. is elite and I don't think he has what it takes to grab a title at 168.
I have to say that I have enormous respect for his trying to go "old school" by taking a lot of fights.
I wish more fighters would do the same. After all that's what boxing is all about.
And yeah good thing Banks (from last night) didn't have much power, cause that tattoo he put on Manfredo's eye could have been him getting knocked down.
I definately see him being the working man at 168 which every division needs.
More power to him.
No chance unless he licks with Frank Warren then maybe he can get him a IBO or wbf title againest my gran :)
I think he has the ability to win a title but I don't think he will be one of those guys you remember 25 years down the line. I think he is a good fighter. Elite? He is not. I don't know how much growing room his skills have but I hope more.Quote:

I am a huge fan but I was very disappointed. He had to fight tooth and nail for this win... He should be so far beond Banks(although Banks surprised me abit)Quote:

Agree with you Pride, as i usually do about Manfredo.. i'm an RI native and i've been watching him as much as any one of his fans have and last night was just not what i expected.. I know that banks was pretty damn fast but it seemed like Peter was at about 80% the whole fight.  Besides his left hook when in close he had nothing to work off of.. Also, have you noticed how much he throws that straight right now after the spina fight? haha.. i kept anticipating it, and i think that Peter thought he would've been able to knock him out with that punch, he just didn't get a chance to throw it enough..  Also he really needed to jab more, he kept his left hand low as he was walking in and was just getting clobbered..
He definitely won decisively, but if Banks was just a litttlllee better and was able to absorb a little more punishment without abandoning that right hand that was landing early in the fight, peter would've had some serious problems.  I think it's safe to say that if he fights anyone decent the way he did last night it will not be pretty.. he needs Freddie back BADLY.
I don't understand the stratigy he had... Banks is quick... Why not jab and keep him off... I don't know...Quote:

Maybei f he fought in womens division because he hasn't got a chance here.Quote:

People accuse Calzaghe of pitter patter shots, but that was ridiculous
a little harsh... :)Quote:

Hey, how come i can't send a personal message or 'cool click'? any ideas?
An error occurs and says that i cannot send personal messages.

Against most of the other posters, I think that Manfredo Jr has as much a chance as anyone to grab a title, because if the Calzaghe v Kessler fight is to come off, I can see a few fights for vacant titles in its aftermath. And in honesty there are not that many fighters in the SMW division who are that good, and bouts against some of the contenders (pun intended) could see Manfredo get one of the belts, but I guess it depends which one he gets.
I had to vote no as well....manfredo is a decent fighter but in the division he's in there are too many better fighters there...banks is definatly very inexperienced and pooped out early in the fight or that would have made things a lot worse for peter last night....man at some points i thought banks was actually sleep inbetween rounds..hey one bright spot for peter though when his eye swoll early at least they didn't stop the fight...if that was the calzaghe fight and assuming joe could actually hit him hard enough they would have stopped it if peter would have blinked to many times.
he's a chump, forget, it was emberassing to watch that fight with Calzaghe he just didnt know what to do. Too many other decent fighters in the division, and a few to move up from MW.
I definetly wouldn't say he has as much chance as anyone... Unless there is some very suspect matchmaking involved in fights for the vacants straps... There are just too many other up and comers or contenders in the division who are better than Manfredo... Check the rankings, if any of the belts are to be vacant anytime soon you've got Lucian Bute, Froch, Inkin, Mundine, Jean Pascal, who should all get a chance before Manfredo does, rightfully.. And I don't think Peter could beat one of those guys, not a chance actually. Im not even sure he can beat the next tier of SMW contenders, there are still several good fighters like Allan Green, Lacy, Andrade, etc. I think Manfredo should focus on fighting some more guys with real experience so he can hope to imrove... Fight William Joppy, Antwun Echols, Brahmer, Mario Veit, Vitali Typsko instead of going straight from the Joey Spinas of the world into another title shot he hasn't earned.Quote:

He does seem to need a little more punching power, which it doesn't look like he has. Against the top notch guys the power can be the equalizing factor in winning a championship fight.Quote:

You're talking about a guy who couldn't win a belt that dubbed him The Contender. Not only didn't he win a fake belt that made him "The Contender" he lost the rematch. No he never will.
NEVER!
I was looking at The Ring rankings after the fight last night and it looking mighty bleak for Pete. I think Allan Green would pulverise him.
The Godfather score made for a ridiculous ring walk.
Me too, but I think it is starting to wear in him a bit. He needs to rest after last nights messiness.Quote:
