Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
I don't usually get worked up over these idiots but it seems that Kellerman and Lampley get more arrogant or stupid everytime they open their mouths...Tonight Kellerman made Larry Merchant look like a genius in the post fight interview. First, what was the purpose of bringing up the fact that Castillo may or may not be shot? Was he trying to diminish the HBO card? Why were there no questions like; what was your strategy? what did you see? what adjustments did you make if any? Did you notice Castillo seemed off? Finally the closing question was about PBF?!?!? what about bringing up other fighters he could defend his new title against?....Kellerman is a MORON...
Lampley has always called out imaginary punches he sees thrown, basically saying what ever pops into his mellon...he always tries to create imaginary controversy and if Lamps was watching the fight instead of fixing his hair he would have noticed that Castillo was warned twice before having a point deducted...again Lampley has no business calling pro fights, imo
I feel sorry for Manny having to sit next to these two fools...HBO knows how to do it right and all they have to do is look at the Mallinaggi - Ndou fight and the way it was handled expertly by Bob Poppa and the way he called the action while using Lennox and Merchant appropriately...

Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
God forbid someone states the truth and crush your high on a Hatton win that just maybe, Castillo's best days were behind him. I love how all these Hatton fans are now trying to say that Castillo tonight was the best he's ever been ::**

I actually like when the guest commentators could give a fuck less about constantly licking the balls of the HBO card...the truth was castillo did look shot and max asked a truthful question....and as far mayweather...hatton should stay at 140 because floyd stops him late...
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
For the record I'm not a Hatton fan and Castillo might be shot that's true...the fact remains that Kellerman asked no relevant questions, not one...he was stiff and only asked the obvious, NOTHING was learned, NOTHING....
I guess you'd rather watch a comentator lick PBF's balls?!?!...listen to Kellerman and every interview or discussion he finds some way to bring up PBF, he's worse than John Madden bringing up Brett Favre...absolutely pathetic...

i find it funny that tszyu nd castillo were both past there primes after hatton beats them cos i didnt here ne1 saying that about tszyu b4 he fort hatton nd as for the castillo fight there was just as much doubt about castillo as there was bout hatton with their rescent performances, U didnt even give him credit for the punch that stopped castillo even though it was a great shot that stopped castillo for the first time.
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Castillo didn't look great but stopping a guy like that is very good....hell stopping Tszyu was big for Hatton.
Hatton came to fight, JLC came for the paycheck but it was still a good fight to watch....that body shot was a killer!
Kellerman sounded like Merchant tonight ;D .....I just think the HBO comentators are too easy to please in some cases and too hard to please in other cases. Manny was the only rational one there tonight
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
....basically the fact is Hatton won by KO....what more can you ask for???? Not a whole bunch....Castillo fought back and if he couldn't continue he couldn't continue

Jim Limpdick suddenly hopped on Hatton nutwagoon because his ancesters were from england?

....no he was never on Hatton's dick during that fight....he was waiting for JLC to land anything so he could talk about him.
Hatton did his job....Kellerman asked some decent questions but ones that could have waited til a day or two after the fight.....don't put a fight in the history books right after it's over.
So JLC was pretty tame tonight but Hatton never let him in the fight

whose the best fighter in the sport? Floyd...and whats the point in standing in there asking dumb questions...what was your strategy, because it was obvious the same a usual...hit and hold..that a ll ricky ever does...why beat around the bush..
and since you seem to take it personally that i didn't agree with you here's a little FYI, i actually don't like it when they lick any of the fighters balls and totally dismiss the other fighter...i really could care less there's no need to promote the fight during the fight...post fight interviews should be about post fight fights....i.e.
"hey ricky are you going back up to 147 to lose, oh i mean fight the other top guys, cotto, mosley, mayweather"
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Dude.....he won by KO....when was the last time Floyd even TRIED to KO someone.....SO FUCK OFF.
Floyd is very skilled but he doesn't give the fans what they want....granted the majority of fans want him to be knocked out cold but he doesn't use his skill in the same manner of a Willie Pep or Pernell Whittaker.....fans loved those guys....don't tell me they don't like Floyd because he's a defensive genius....they don't like him because he takes no risks and he doesn't really humiliate opponents the way guys like RJJ did.....in his prime RJJ outmatched EVERYONE he ever stood in the ring with but he still gave the fans their money's worth.
Hatton has his style and you can feel free to complain about it but hey his fans like it and you can't knock them for liking it
FYI Ricky is just as undefeated as Floyd is
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Lampley was off-base in claiming that there was no warning prior to the point deduction since the warning came the round before when Hatton gave Cortez a look.
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
I hate to break it to ya...but Kellerman could turn out to be twice the personality of Merchant.
Kellerman's younger, more enthusiastic, & he's loaded with knowledge & love of the game.
Also...he's new to an audience of HBO's size & he's also got a lot more telee space than he had on ESPN2.
I think in time he'll do fine.
-
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
I like Kellerman but the HBO crew needs to really sit back and report rather than jump to conclusions....I mean tonight it went from Hatton-JLC will be the fight of the year to JLC is washed up and passed it.......
Don't fucking take the wind out of YOUR BOY'S sails right after a huge fucking win!!!!! Hatton fights on HBO....you don't criticize his opponent (who is a DAMN good fighter to begin with) after a win like that...you sell Ricky short, let the fans decide who is done and who isn't.
Ricky is a class act, he honored his fans and Diego Corrales tonight, it was great....no fight of the year but hell you never know when something like that will happen....after Gatti-Ward and Corrales-Castillo you just see styles and expect the fight to be that good.....we were spoiled by those matches

CC promoter. I noticed the same thing. Kellerman was terrible. Kellerman would say something and Emanual would correct him and then Lampley would just say the same thing both those guys were saying over. They all were doing the same role. Then Harold Lederman was commentating also and it was a big mess. I hope Kellerman does not stay with HBO. That was a terrible call to hire him. And I agree why would he mention if Castillo was washed up? That really makes HBO look good when he says the big fight they have been advertising was not worth it because Castillo was a shot fighter.

in my mind he is annoying. Merchant has a certain rare quality to him which we will not see again. Guys now want to jump on the bandwagon of an upset all the time. Castillo is a good fighter who fought a great fight. HBO tried to make it sound like he is great. Emanaul sort of straightened that out.

Spot on ! Kellerman is a horrible listen. Max looks and acts a muff . He comes out with bogus accusations and pushes it off as fact, He read a lot books about boxing and that’s it ! truth be told I would embrace anyone on this boards opinion over Kellermans ! and bank on it ! replacing Merchant with Kellerman is like taking the 505 hp 7.0 liter engine out of the Corvette and replacing it with a neon 4 cyl. HBO just keeps shooting themselves in the foot

Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
I think Max had a bad night but he's a good guy and he does know his stuff....at least Doug Fischer isn't on HBO

Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
What a bunch of clowns, just watched the HBO commentary. Steward was made to eat his words about Hatton and body punching. Within seconds of the fight, they were saying Castillo was shot ::** Then Steward says I knew within the first ten seconds he wasn't right :D
Bunch of whoppers. As for the interview....nuff said :-X

Manny also said Hatton's speed would kill Castillo

Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Kellerman's wide-eyed yelling slightly gets on my nerves. And while interviewing Hatton, I think he was annoying as he continuously mentioned Castillo's being shot. This was being heard over the PA system, and the crowd was booing every time he said it.

believe it or not boxing is a sport just like ever other major sport and its about winning..period..floyd wins and hasn't been in a close fight since the first castillo fight...who gives a shit what the fans want giving the fans what they want gives you a loss..so because floyd is technically better than hatton he's not exciting? who cares about skilled bar fighting..barrera is exciting but you don't see him holding and wrestling all night long...so was morrales, is pacman, is cotto, hatton isn't like either of them...and you like many will see if he goes to 147 he will lose to mosley, pbf, and cotto...
and as far as going for kayo's..hatton is still fighting at his natural weight..floyd has moved up 4 weight divisions in four years... kinda hard to kayo guys naturally bigger than you...as hatton found out against collazo and immediately moved back down even though he said he'd give collazo a rematch...

Guess you missed my original topic..
"Why were there no questions like; what was your strategy? what did you see? what adjustments did you make if any? Did you notice Castillo seemed off? Finally the closing question was about PBF?!?!? what about bringing up other fighters he could defend his title against?...."
What was Hatton supposed to respond with to Max's question? what was the answer Max was asking for? Did anyone think Hatton would respond with "Your a genius Max, Castillo was totally shot and I just wanted to take an easy HBO payday. I wanted my fans to waste their airfare from the UK to watch me beat up a has been in person, yes Max Castillo was shot because you said so...now please tell me about PBF again..."
While Max was get lathered up again over the heavier and (for now) retired pbf he disregarded a guy in Hatton's weight class that won the previous week on hbo, Paullie Malinaggi...no mention, which is more than sloppy since these questions are usually scripted to a degree.

I'm guessing the reason the question was about PBF as opposed to Malignaggi is that Hatton has stated roughly a million times that he wants a big fight against someone like Floyd or Oscar.
If Hatton had been campaigning for a fight with Paulie Malignaggi, then that would have been an interesting question. But he's not.
The interview was fine.

There was no interview; so if it was already stated that Hatton wants pbf, Max knew his answer. Nothing was learned and it was a waste of time...but if you enjoyed it more power to you.

Hatton doesn't have the frame to move up divisions...his arms are tiny and he HAS to fight on the inside it's no different than Floyd not having any power
