If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
PBF is a good fighter but seems to me that he just missing something i mean the best win i think he has is over old Oscar not a shot Oscar but a old one but that is not his fault can't blame him for his era. But my question is how would he have done in the era of Duran, Leonard and Hearns. Would he still be undefeated and consider the pound for pound best my thoughts are no he wouldn't but thats is just my opinion and i am curse to hear your thoughts one the subject.

I think PBF is a little smaller than the guys you mentioned but..
PBF is much faster than they are but duran, hearns, and hagler are pressure fighters that could not just knoch him out but get a decision..
leonard-mayweather would be real interesting but truthfully probably boring???? sad but true

Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
hmmmm i would say PBF is slower then SRL....especially at combo punching personally! All depends how you rated the fab 4 i suppose...and in what order! I think PBF would be beaten by SRL, Hagler...not sure about Hearns, becuase he was such a tricky customer which the rangey power punches...i think Mayweather vs Duran would be veryyyyy interesting!

i think he would still be undefeated because he wouldn't fight any them anyway. Floyd carefully selects his opposition and i think he would see them as a little too dangerous to risk possible defeat.

Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
It's tough to compare Leonard and Hearns to Floyd because they're much bigger than he was. Leonard and Hearns both started their careers at 147. Hearns especially was a very big welterweight.
Duran is a more interesting discussion because he was similar to Floyd, in that he started in the lower weight classes. Duran-Floyd would be an interesting matchup. I would pick Duran to win.

PBF has more explosive speed, but he doesn't throw combinations the same way. 130-135 pound Mayweather was faster than Leonard, but latter on I think they equaled out in speed or maybe little in favor of Mayweather. I think Mayweather would beat Duran in close fights from 135-147 or split wins like Leonard did with Duran, I think he would go on the offensive against Leonard like he did against Judah, and win a close decision. Against Hearns I think he gets outboxed early because of Hearns' height and speed, but then Mayweather will work inside and eventually take over the fight as Hearns would tire out. Hagler... Mayweather would have never fought Hagler.
While I know these guys are all bigger than Mayweather, and comparible athletes I think he is a more schooled fighter than any of them.

Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
SRL vs PBF i give that to sugar because i think he is faster then pbf and has better speed and power and has beaten better fighter then PBF and how can you think a plan on ZAb would work on Leonard zab doesn't belong in the same breath as Leonard does i give it to Sugar but late stoppage in 12 and if you go by old time rules meaning 15 rounds i favor sugar even more.

...he'd get his ass whipped that's how he'd do.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
The more i think about it the more i dont like Pbf chances
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
Besides a old oscar who has PBf beaten that is worth mentioning as a great.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
Now if he beats Mosley and Winky then i will get off his back on opposition and give him more credit.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
I think Mayweather losses to Hearns and Duran. But I'll take him over Leonard.

Im hardly a Mayweather fan but Winky is a LOT bigger, Mosely yeah but Winky?

If he wants to call him self the pound for pound best i think he should take Winky no problem right.

I was never suggesting that you were a hater mate but Winky is a BIG lad compared to Mayweather.

I might give him some credit if i didn't fall asleep during his fights.

That would indeed fix the problem. I think he'd be a big factor (like frazier in the ali era) but he wouldn't be the clear cut dominator of that era.

i know zab and mosely are suppose to be faster than PBF but mayweather at 147 is as explosively fast as anyone...
leonard might be as fast but not so much faster where it would make a difference... no disrespect to SRL but mayweather could hang with him for sure..

Sorry buddy but you are dreaming if you think Mayweather could beat Hearns , Tommy was fast and carried massive power , Mayweather wouldnt even be able to outbox him and he sure as hell doesnt hit hard at welter.
Leornard wins , Hagler well thats murder for a monster like Marvin , Duran well Mayweather at least is a similar natural size so would have a chance.

Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
I think leonard was better then hearns and duran and think out of the 3 he be the hardest for PBf.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
i guess these guys would win seeing as how floyd only had 3 fights at 147 and that he's still a true 135 pounder 140 at best....at 140 he kills all of them....

You don't seem to understand. Tommy can't fight on the inside at all, and thats where Mayweather would fight him. I think Tommy would have a hard time hitting Mayweather with a clean punch. Mayweather doesn't knock people out at welterweight, but he does hit pretty hard, and everyone has respected his power. Why does Leonard win? Mayweather is the more complete boxer though Leonard does have the size on him. They are equal in speed. Its a close fight that either could win. Mayweather is a faster, better boxing version of Benitez. As for Duran I think he was bigger than Leonard personally though he started at a lower weight, but once against he could win because MAyweather is so eager to go on the defensive that he sometimes doesn't get enough done, but I think Mayweather could outbox him for 12-15 rounds, but its whether or not Duran's pressure gets him the nod or not that I wouldn't know. Now if Tommy or Leonard were southpaw then I would have them destroying Mayweather, but their not.

They are pretty equal in speed at Wetlerweight. I think lower weight PBF was a lot faster, but he slowed down going up to 147. Sure Leonard always threw the faster combinations, but that was his style. I think Mayweather has a little more explosive speed on his punches and he sticks them as good as any.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
Leonard's style would demand mayweather come forward a bit to avoid being picked off for an easy points victory. In opening up his offense Maywether makes himself more open to taking punches and gets clipped repeatedly. SRL could win this on a stoppage.

Its easy to say Mayweather would work on inside against Hearns but i disagree you honestly think he would work on inside with Hearns power that would ko Mayweather instantly if he hit Mayweather with his right hand which he did too mostly everyone Hearns was monster at Welterweight and would beat stuffing out of Mayweather its not that easy to get inside against someone of the size of Hearns and as they were trying Hearns would hit them with right hand Hearns wouldn't just stand there and let Mayweather work on inside he would be on his toes and ready to blast that right hand out when Mayweather gets close.

BINGO ICE , Tommy Hearns kicks the living crap out of a small former superfeather in mayweather , and i mean easy to ,

Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
No waY would Pbf ever have entered a ring with Tommy. He's already selective about who he fights (strangely floating by Margarito ^-^) But Tommy Hearns? I dont care if Floyd can go 12 rounds and only get hit with mayb20% of punches. All tommy Hearns needed was a 1% connect percentage and there were problems.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
He would make a good fight against each but he would not remain undefeated. Hell, even Leonard, who is considered the best of the bunch, did not remian undefeated.
I also don't think he would remian undefeated if he had come up just 6 or 7 years ago around the time when you had Prime Oscar, Prime Mosley, Prime Tito, Prime Vargas and Prime Quartey, all within 147 and 154. One of these guys would have beat him at some point. You just can't stay undefeated with this kind of opposition. Nobody is that untouchable. It's a shame these guys didn't fight eachother more often. They could have rivaled the fav-4 IMHO.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
he would be 38-4
loss to hagler
loss to hearns
loss to duran
loss to leonard.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
Duran at 135 would massacre Floyd and at 147 he'd give a hard fight to him too
Leonard at 140-160 would beat Floyd
Hearns would whip his ass no matter what weight class
Hagler would thump him out at 160
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
People need to get their heads out of the @sses of the 4 greats of the 80s, and you're especially dumb if you think any well rounded fighter of elite caliber can be massacred by any one.
-
Re: If PBF fought in the era Leonard, Hearns and Duran how do you think he do
Floyd is a highly skilled fighter with great defense...so i don't think he would embarrass himself against any of the three (or 4, if you include Hagler)...BUT...it would be a tough match up for him against any of them...especially the larger guys. Some people have mentioned how Tommy didn't fight well on the inside...but how the hell would Floyd get in the inside against such a rangy, powerful fighter like Hearns (and don't forget, Hearns had a tremendous jab). Duran would be his best chance...and Duran was a MONSTER puncher who pressured you...so that would be a risky fight as well...and we all know...Floyd doesn't take big risks.
