Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
OK both are past their best and both have taken some beatings in their last outings....
But should be exciting while it last because you know they will both go all out!!!
Could be one of the best of the year IMO...Styles are made to clash and this has fireworks all over it....
Could be the last Hurah for one and the final curtain for the other....
Opinions?

Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
I say theres gonna be about 5 or 6 knockdowns before this one gets stopped. Either way...this is definately a pickem fight.I like both, you can bet they never heard the expression, "if you dont have anything nice to say , dont say it at all." I think the real highlight is gonna be the press conference. ;D
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Mayorga's gonna end Vargas' career in dramatic fashion!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to say. Mayorga has been stopped in his last 2 fights hasn't he? I wouldn't say Mayorga is fresh either. This is two guys who are shopworn.

Oh don't get me wrong, I know these two are past their best but I think Mayorga is possibly the fresher of the two. Vargas' chin is a question mark to me, whereas Mayorga's is like granite. Sure Ricardo gets stopped but he takes some tremendous shots up to that point! I think Fernando's back problems have ruin his career!
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Vargas Decision if he doesn't collapse in pain in the mid-rounds

Actually he was stopped in his last fight against Delahoya which really sucked, but before that he won his title against Michelle Picarillo by dropping him 3 times and layin a good beatdown on him. I will be rootin for Mayorga, my favorite fighter, in this one all the way. I think he's gonna crash Vargas's retirement party. 8)
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
I think Mayorga will scramble his brain I'm afraid. I'd prefer Vargas to win, because Mayorga is the bigger mouth, and I love watching him get owned. I feel he'll take this one though.
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
I'm actually lookign forward to the Briggs-Garay fight on the same card. The winner fights WBA Light-heavy champ Stipe Drews.
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Can they KO each other? ;D

It'd be like the double knockdown Sechew Powell versus Corenelius bundrage..
Id love to see two people completely spark eachother..Like seriously hearns vs duran sparked..Lol
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
one thing good about this fight is that it seems like the opinions are evenly split. The question is who is the more washed up fighter.

The answer is Vargas. He broke Sugar Shane Mosley's 5 year KO drought. What does that tell you?
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
I think Vargas should win this one, not a signifigant fight, but should be entertaining. And if boxrec is correct we should have a pretty decent undercard....
Super Middleweight Fernando Vargas v Ricardo Mayorga 12
Catchweight of 162 lbs
Light Middleweight Luis Collazo v Sharmba Mitchell 12
IBF Light Middleweight Title Eliminator
Light Middleweight Daniel Santos v Jose Antonio Rivera 12
WBA Light Middleweight Title Eliminator
Light Heavyweight Paul Briggs v Hugo Hernan Garay 10
William Joppy v ? 0
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Looks like a solid under card!
Santos/ Rivera & Briggs/ Garay should be good!
As for Mayorga/ Vargas... I can't wait for the smack talk to start!!!
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Mayorga is way past his prime.
Vargas is a corpse.
Re: Mayorga Vs Vargas September 8th
Good looking undercard. I'm tellin ya fellow boxing nerds, I'm seriously thinking about makin the 6-7 trip down to L.A. to see this shat. My hero Mayorga is gonna waste Vargas. Anyone know if tickets are on sale yet? I should probably check, seems early, but ya never know.

I wouldnt exactly call his chin granite, but i think Vargas will win this easily if he uses his head and box's him.

I am not sure. When a fighter is well known everyone knows how to fight him and beat him. The lesser known guys are the guys people do not know about. So the fact Vargas has a style everyone is aqainted with makes him easier to beat compared to had they not known who he was.
