Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I just want Floyd to come back, Ricky is one of the bigger names out there so a worthy tune up fight for Floyd before he goes on to fight Mosely or Cotto
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I'd criticize him if he didn't fight him now. Floyd has done plenty of mouthing off about what he's going to do to Hatton, so he should back it up.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
i'd criticize him for taking the stylistically easier fight and doing it behind the hype of
"oh its hatton"
hatton still isn't as much of a threat as SSM....but after he wipes the floor with hatton he still has to fight shane to fully get credit from me and i'm obviously one of his biggest supporters...
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
they have both taken shots at eachother - so it is time they fight. no reason the winner can't fight ssm.

lol ;D tune-up why dont you give me ten to one odds then
man you guys watch collazo and hatton at 147 and you already know hattons complete future and potential for hatton at 147... you all should be hbo commentators :appl:
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
SSM and PBF both will beat hatton easily..so why not fight each other...pbf for sure he knows it that why if he fights hatton it will be calculated because he knows that his style gives him a superior advantage over hatton..it will look like RJJ v PAZ..or PBF v GAtti or RAHEEM v MOrrales
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I think as much as everyone hates to admit it absense makes the heart fonder..
Just like the short period ofter Bhop - tarver..
Just like trinidad coming back from retirement..
Its not fan fare that he will comeback to.. But people know they do want to see him and hes too young and great not to take on the other young greats..
He needs hatton and cotto's..
Hatton and cotto have proved beyond the stage where they loose and they get called overrated and are great competition..
I fear theres more chance of him beating shane and people saying he was past it..Then there is of him beating hatton and them saying..He was overrated..Same with cotto
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
if floyd beats hatton at 147 they will say hatton was too short for the weight and too one dimensional for floyd...cotto is too one dimensional and doesn't have enough footwork not too mention still doesn't have the proper ring knowledge to be in the ring with floyd....
SSM at 147 soundedly beat collazo, a fighter younger than both PBF and himself...not to mention almost beat hatton if it were not for a well timed left hook that gave hatton the extra points to win the fight...well timed because collazo was off balance..not because he was hurt....

If anyone does say that bro then it won't wash with me, and it wouldn't with any real fight fans, with this fight the weight is irrelevant cos their basically the same size, in the ring they'll proably both be around the 152-153 mark. This fight is all about styles, and it's why it's such a great fight. You won't hear any excuses from the Hatton camp if Mayweather does outbox him. I don't think we could say the same if Mayweather got knocked out.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
You cannot argue that Hatton has deserved his shot he clearly has and I certainly don't think you can not want to see two fighters fight because you think one of them will lose. I myself think Floyd will beat Hatton easily by staing on the outside and picking him apart. I think it's a fight that's practically gauranteed to see Ricky have at least a couple points docked for holding and maybe even disqualified.
However he has most definitely earned a shot at Floyd and if Floyd fights him I certainly won't be saying it was an easy option for Mayweather.

trust me i want to see it...i want to see him fight hatton, cotto, and SSM those three fights are what i feel he needs to become top 10 ATG...but i'd rather see him fight SSM first....

The Mosley fight is extremely intriguing but it definitely cannot make anything close to the money that Hatton v Mayweather would make. I think it generates more excitement in so many ways, plus it's prime v prime which always looks great in the history books.

forget money..ssm is much bigger threat than hatton..beat shane first then take the money fights...shit he made about 25 million for delahoya..he shouldn't be starving for awhile..besides he got 8million against baldomir...he'll get and easy 10mill for fighting mosley...
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
Mosley is talking about retiring for good, as he hasn't felt the desire as much anymore. You'd see a repeat of DLH-Mayweather, with Shane losing soundly on points. For me, there is no debate there.

If I could give you a cc Fire I would, couldnt have said it better myself. Just because Hatton had 1 bad fight at 147 (which he did not have enough time to bulk upto or prepare for) against a slick southpaw everyone thinks that Hatton has no chance at 147. Give the guy a break and if he does move up and gets his arse wooped I will bow down and say I was wrong and the doubters were right!!

Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I would applaud Floyd for taking the fight and criticize Floyd for not fighting Mosley (or another welterweight)... Are you kiddin me, what better way does he have to get away from Cotto, Mosley and Tony and still cash in millions of HBO, MGM Grand and plenty of other contracts in fighting a 5' 6'' tall tight, upright, short-armed 1 dimensional pressure light welter fighter who bring a capacity crowd of 13 thousand 4 a meaningless IBO title fight ( even though he has fast footwork, good balance and excellent reflexes coming in, he still rushes his way in head first)? ... Either Tito or Ricky, Floyd will go straight to the bank with this ( Ha ha ha ha ha)

Mayweather isn't like that, HBO isn't like that, no one is like that. If your in Mayweathers shoes right now your gonna take the most money for the least risk, only I think Hatton is the bigger danger ;) .

exactly..i said that the move is calculated..as he knows he can capitalize off hatton's current steam for more money and a lesser risk than mosley... its a smart business move but he knows it and most bozing experts will agree that as far as styles go and going off the collazo fight mayweather will make hatton look silly...
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
It depends. Hatton is worthy of a shot...at 140....
At 147,Floyd has too many unresolved issues. We still have yet to see him fight a big strong WW with a punch/speed and this is where Cotto/Margarito/Mosley fit in. Out of those guys,Hatton is the most$$$ for the least risk so again,it's a business manuever.
I would like to see a HattonFloyd fight but I want to see Floyd fight the winner of that tournament much much more.. I guess I would applaud Floyd for taking this particular fight.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
Hatton imo manages fine at welter given the right preparation..
Cotto is not one dimensional.. He showed he can take a punch, he showed great fitness.. he has showed that his none stop attack can nullify the best of them

best of them is who exactly...zab is good but hardly best as was corley, torres, and quintana..all good but hardly on floyd's level
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
apllaud Floyd because if he does fight Hatton it will be at Welterweight and he can fight Mosely after.

No no your right bro..
I understand..
Its hard to say tbh..
Hatton and cotto are THE biggest challenges for floyd,
And your right its hard to scale them to floyd by the way they fight.. Floyd has shown such excellence..
But at the same time cotto and hatton are the type of guys that have also shown excellence and are the most likely to show more due to styles and character..
But its impossible to measure up to floyd.. So you just rate them on closest to him.. given theyr shared opponents to floyd and theyr own qualities
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
Wow the poll is 100% so I think we're all gonna buy this fight eh? Looks like we're all gonna be happy if this one comes off.

hatton and cotto are both A+ but i think floyd is A++ and cotto and hatton are both styles that floyd has faced before...but hatton and cotto have never faced the like of floyd..but no matter it still going to be great fight..it more of the intrigue that excites me..hatton's style version pbf, i'd rather see it at 140 because i feel hatton's workrate will drop at 147 and he will not be at his best...nevertheless let's get it signed first....
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
i would certainly applaud floyd

Collazo broke his thumb in that fight, after two rounds, and has had surgery since, Hatton V floyd would not be a walkover.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
Mayweather fights where the money is at, and right now Hatton is a way bigger name than Mosley. I know both beat Collazo, but now that Hatton has just beating a common opponent between him and Mayweather I want them to fight more, for now. I think Mayweather should fight Mosley after this though if MOsley continues to win. I see tall guys like Paul Williams or Margarito maybe giving Mosley a hard time.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I think mosley would be more of a threat but he like mentioned somewhere here seems really really disinterested in fighthing floyd, hatton will be determined to come out and do everything he can to win...I'd give pbf credit for facing anyone of any decent caliber...and not doing a jermaine talylor move and fighting some of the lesser caliber fighters out there calling his name...

I agree that the guys at WW pose much bigger threats to Floyd. But those guys (minus Mosley) are all tied up with each other for a while anyway. If he wanted to, Floyd could easily fight Hatton and then fight the winner of Cotto vs. Margarito/Williams six months down the line. The timing is almost perfect.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
i am justhappy that mayweather is fighting again and someone that is a threat its even better
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
Definitely applaud him, I'd just be happy to see him fighting. Once he's finished with Hatton Cotto should be ready. I don't see Floyd getting out of the game for a long while yet!

I fail to see who Mayweather has beaten since 135, that is really any better than Cotto or Hatton? De La Hoya 5 years ago maybe but not the De La Hoya that threw away the fight they had last month.

Someone not thinking much of Hatton :-\
Because no way will this be a tune up fight and Mayweather won't have it easy either.

There are two different things going on here. Hatton moving up to fight at 147 is one of them. Fighting Floyd is another. What I'm saying is that if Hatton fights Floyd at 147 and gets his a*** beat, it may have nothing in particular to do with the fact that the fight took place at 147.
In order to know how Hatton does at 147, really, he'd have to fight a few fights there, and then the judgment could be made. He didn't have a promising start with Collazo but give him a bye on that.
Your analysis takes the victory away from Floyd and instead gives the credit to the weight class. Subtle but absolutely disrespects Hatton's opponent. As if Floyd is a neutral factor in the mix of things.
He's definitely not ...
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
I voted (criticize Floyd for not fighting Mosley (or another welterweight))
HAtton should fight Cotto and PBF has to fight Mosley and then the winner of those will fight eachother
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
This "retirement" thing is starting to get a little bit like the "I was poisoned/drugged" thing. Everyones saying it. No one not even Floyd (I don't think) thought he was serious, and no way is SSM serious. It seems to be a way to get good big money fights quickly these days. Soon we'll have guys "retiring" after 2 fights only to go to come out of "retirement" 40 times before they finally hang them up.
But I think its good Floyd is fighting Hatton, an undefeated fighter who is certainly not past his best and IF he wins should get a lot of credit. Then he needs to take on SSM and in my view he will have walked the walk.
-
Re: Poll: If Floyd does fight Hatton, will you.....
SSM is WAY too big for Hatton. I dont think that is a realistic fight if Hatton won and I wouldnt criticize Hatton for not fighting Mosley.
