Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Matweather has about as much class as a hooker in a pink wig wearing fishnets:)
Why does an oviously top fighter have to talk utter trash ???
i LIKE HIS BOXING STYLE BUT WHEN HE OPENS HIS MOUTH IT MAKES ME CRINGE AND TO BE HONEST I FEEL SORRY FOR THE GUY LOL
PLEASE TELL ME YOUR VIEWS GUYS ????
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
To be honest i have no problem with this. There will always be a boxer who annoys you for certain reasons. end of, this is boxing and all that matters is how they do in the ring, what they say, how they act, hell what they ware means sweet FA to me really outside of the ring.
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I'm with ya Dark Lord, I just wish that for Boxing's sake the p4p best could be a guy who would carry himself in a way which would promote boxing and not drag it into the gutter.
But there hasn't been a guy like that in a long time.
If we had a guy like Trinidad or De La Hoya or Hatton with the skills of Mayweather then our sport would be a lot more attractive to the public
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I think Floyd is a supreme technician or a virtuoso all the way, the guy's reflexes are absolutely astonishing the way he leans back a lil bit, evades and counter punches sharp and lightning fast like a cobra in whipping motion - the 4th round counter against ODLH is the perfect example... But Floyd is also xtremely unstable mentally, the result of a broken home and of a precocious maturation without a father figure so at age 30 he still behaves like he'll do anything to capture your attention... Then, he also needs acting lessons cause he can't perform like he is a nice kid ( who I think he is) or a lovable wacko a la Toney so he always may fall into the villain character pose in the theatrical promos

...why because people like us sit here and have tons of threads talking about him in one way or another...we are doing all the marketing for him he needs.....we talk about as much crap about him as he does about everything and he and his people love it as they roll down to the bank after each fight. That being said he is a prick, but no one has been able to shut him up yet and it doesn't look to good for it happening in the near future.....people don't pay to see him win they pay hoping to be there or be watching when he looses..some people make thier money being the fan favorite and the hero and he's making damn near as much being an ass hole. Who's smarter him or us ???

Us
Mayweather is acharacter, love him or hate him, and without chractes boxing wouldn't be as popular as it is. Muhammed Ali was a trash talker, the way he disrespected Joe Frazier before there 3rd fight was at times past humorous and just plain disgraceful, but instead we remeber what he did in the ring. Mayweather will be the same

I agree talking about a fighter hypes him up , eg. Peter "IM NOT A REAL BOXER " Manfredo , but is there any point having a boxing forum if we cant talk about the p4p best in the world ?
I think not actually :)
Fact is he would be just as good a fighter without sounding like a street bum .
As for him being smarter than us ? well he may be smarter than you but i know he aint smarter than me ;D
OH AND BY THE WAY YOUR POST ... WELL U SOUNDED LIKE MY MOTHER LOL ;D
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I don't know I don't think his trash talking is that bad really. I've never seen him as a street bum or gangtsa.
He talks trash a little bit but only in a polite well mannered little boy way.
He's alright in my book.
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
Lol you got me there i was sounding a little mother-ish, just saying mayweather knows what he doing and he's good at it and made a ton of money off of all our hatred of his character...meanwhile he keeps winning..and we keep hating him throwing down cash in the hopes it will happen. And the other response was correct as well of course we should be talking about him somewhat since he is considered pfp champ and all...i just think we all play into his b.s. including myself. He's like the T.O. of boxing in a way..we all hate his character he irritates us with his whiny little crap and antics but we spend just as much time talking about them as we do his boxing......just the way he likes it. Cause his boxing style alone isn't enough to draw in the big numbers it's our dislike of him that doesn that. Ok momma's off to make breakfast !!!
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
The thing is, Ricky Hatton doesnt talk trash, and he has a phenomenal fan base - so thats also not a defence for Floyd.
I think he's a disgrace personally and dont know how anyone could have him as a role model or look up to him (unless you are a boxer who wants to learn his techniques which lets face it is not going to be a very big proportion of the fan base)
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I like Mayweather in every way his boxing skills his attitude and when he talks trash it just adds more colour to him not everybody likes a nice guy who will have a pint with you.
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
I like mayweathers style he top draw , but yea i cant see him going for a pint with you.
HE MAY GO FOR A FUTHA FOOKIN PINT WITH YOU !!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
While I hate trash talkers...my favorite fighters are all trash talkers.
Hopkins, Floyd, Jones, & the like...but they all back it up & generally use it to sell matches.
Floyd is a true champion & believe it or not he does a lot for boxing.

I think he is unstable emotionally not mentally. Nobody has more concentration than him in the ring. His determination and drive, maybe due to his insecurities, are second to none. The reason I don't mind how he hacts is because he trains the hardest, he's in the best shape, and he has earned the right to talk however he wants to. Also its market thing, he likes to be the bad guy, and from everything I've heard when he's not around his posse he is a nice guy.
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
i think there is a true issue because he does not have the explosive appeal of for an example Iron Mike Tyson or Prince Naseem. Outside of boxing Floyd remains a relative unknown. Fair enough this is partly due to the decline in popularity of boxing, but also due to his anti social media front and his technical displays. Trash talkers who appeal are the ones that back it up in the ring, not just with the W but with he style that they get the W.
Mayweather says he is going to whoop Hattons ass, but even floyd fans would be reticent to say that they expected him to knock Hatton out, the most expected result is a points win for PBF, like there was in the ODH fight. I am a big Hatton fan and will be rooting for him if they fight. More importantly than that I see guys like Ricky, Calzaghe, and De La Hoya as the true role models that a professional sports man should be. Mayweather is akin to a boxing Craig Bellamy, very talented but will never be adored and respected in the long term because he is such a tosser!
Re: Floyd Mayweather .... i mean why ?
My problem is that he doesn't fight to win. He fights not to lose - and that is a big difference. I agree he's probably the most skilled and talented boxer of his generation, but I still find it hard to watch his matches. Don't get me wrong - I love displays of skill. Especially when one guy uses his skill to knock the other guy into next week.

bcollins...you know I respect your opinions...& everyone's entitled to one...but Floyd fights to win.
Trust me...if you were on speaking terms with Mitchell, Chavez, Gatti, Sosa, Hernandez, Augustus, Jukko, Corrales, Manfredy, Brusselles, & Castillo to name a few...they'd correct that difference for you.
No one out there displays skills more aptly than Floyd, but I can see where you & many others don't like his style...but often I have to wonder if it's just the fact that he makes winning look so easy...& that's where the distaste comes from.
Floyd has stopped, KO'd, TKO'd, whatever many men in his career...it's just hard for me to understand the reasons that people come up with standing against Floyd other than the fact that he's a prick.
But again... everyone's entitled to an opinion.

You have a good point - he makes winning look easy. It's the way he wins that I dislike. I agree, it's a matter of stylistic preference...and I like the guys who are in there just waiting to put their opponent on his a**. Like you said, PBF has done it before - I'd just like to see it again.
I wish he had stayed at lightweight, or even 140. He had more power then - and used it! He has the skills to win at 154, but it's not fun to watch, for me, at least. It's like Fight Night, with a lightweight against a HW. More an exercise in patience than real excitement ;)
Oh yeah - CC for always stating your opinions in a very conversational way. It's great to have actual differences of opinion without devolving into second grade!

You know...I'm kinda see-sawish with him jumping weights.
I hate that...weight jumping I mean...but damned if he aint making it happen.
I do see where your'e coming from...I do...but it's hard for me to find faults in a man that keeps on winning...especially him being one of my top 5's.
As far as stating my opinions non-argumentatively...it's called respect, babe.
I got it for the majority of me peers here...you'd be on that list, count on it.
