Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
Las Vegas or Los Angeles? Marco Antonio Barrera or Humberto Soto? Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao told The Manila Bulletin/Fightnews.com that he will definitely see action on October 6 against a foe yet to named and in a venue that Top Rank will soon pick. "The choice of opponent is still being discussed but it's definite that I am fighting in October," said Pacquiao, who has an ax to grind against the two Mexicans being mentioned as candidates. Soto earned the ire of Pacquiao after the 27-year-old native Mexican beat up Bobby Pacquiao last June 9 at Madison Square Garden in New York, while Barrera has remained a prime target of Pacquiao owing to statements made by Barrera that he wasn't mentally prepared when he faced and lost to Pacquiao by 11th round knockout in November 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. "I don't care who it is going to be," said Pacquiao, who hasn't fought since overpowering Jorge Solis of Mexico last April in Texas . "I will beat them both."

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
I heard Pac already picked Soto as his next opponent. It's going to be held in Vancouver.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
I agree with Pacquiao, he an beat them both... but the man he should be facing is Marquez!

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
I know in this day and age it's not important anymore, but I prefer to see the best fighter in the division with a legit title around his waste. For me, I would want to see pack fight Guzman, Valero or Marquez. As Marquez can't happen because of money, and Valero can't fight in the US for medical reasons, I feel the Guzman fight is the best one.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
My preference for Pac's next opponent is in this order:
1. Marquez
2. Soto
3. Barrera
4. Guzman
Marquez isn't available because he's already agreed to fight Barrios in September, therefore I'd like to see Pac fight Soto, who is a very dangerous challenger and will give Pac all he can handle.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
I think Mannys oppanents should go like this
1) Soto- He beat his brother and he has fully deserved the shot at manny! So i believe that should be made first for sure.
2) MAB- I think there would be a lot of hype for this and i feel it would be a good fight for both fighters and it would come at the right time. I hope that this fight does happen because it brings a lot of promise and would be the difference of MAB's legacy and PAC's so it should happen but not too late.
3) Guzman- I feel that the way he is going he will rise into a truely undeafted superstar at superfeather who would need a push like Manny to push him to his limits. If he decides to stay at superfeather, this fight should happen! I feel for mannys sake this fight should happen because it would push Marquez into finally showing who is the best at superfeather and if Manny wins the marquez fight has to happen.
4) Marquez- If manny beats the other 3 men then if this fight doesnt happen it's just plain stupid! It will be the 2 best men in the devision who have to prove who is the best and it MUST! happen. It would be another thriller and i wouldnt no who to back.
In the mean time i really feel that Marquez should push for a re-match with Chris John in the USA. I heard John is fighting another bum which is a shame really because he needs to somewere slot in with the big me at superfeather and i believe he could be in there somewere.
lets just hope it unfolds like this for the joy of boxing ;D

Here's mine
1.Guzman
2.Guzman
3.Guzman
4.Guzman
What a match up that would be, I think that's Manny's toughest test out there that he hasn't faught yet, because there's a distinct possibility that Guzman can outbox him, it would be incredible to watch because no one has imposed their will on Guzman before.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
if a guy beat your bro it doesnt mean that he deserves a shot! for me its
marquez just so we know who really is the best fighter
mab just to clarify the "im not in my zone"alibi of mab
soto cause he has the arsenal to beat pac
guzman cause there is no other left

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
Barrera doesn't deserve the fight. He lost to Marquez and he didn't want the rematch and he knows he is on the slide. For me Pacman should be a man and fight Marquez (screw the $$$) but i doubt its going to happen because he doesn't want to be in a war like the first fight again. Guzman is probably next on my list but i dont think that will happen either. Pac ll fight soto because he knows he will beat him, or Barrera cause he is on the slide and he wont be able to hand the pain pac ll bring.

Agreed, but if anyone can take him I'd have to go with Marquez, he really knows how to adjust his gameplan.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
Barrera!!!!!!! Its his final year, just give him what he wants. He thinks he can do it, let him have the chance. Its a bigger fight than Soto!! ;)

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
i would prefer marquez or barrera first. marquez ain't happening so barrera.
then soto
then guzman

Nonsense. Barrera is the biggest name on that list and deserves a rematch as much as anyone. The Barrera/Marquez fight was extremely close and controversial...so that is not an indicator of Marco being on the slide. From a $$$ and promotional standpoint....Barrera/Pac is the the best fight. As far as Marco's chances...he is one of the most intelligent and focused fighters in the business...win/lose/or draw....he will give Pac a hell of a fight. Aside form Marco...Marquez is the logical next choice. The first Pac/Marquez fight deserved a rematch. Guzman would come in third...he is a very skilled fighter who can give Pac a lot of problems with his speed/skill/and defense. Lastly...Soto. He is a big puncher...but he has done the least to deserve a shot at such a big fight.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
if Barrera goes against Pac again it aint going to be pritty. I really hope he does Pac will murder him, Barrera has looked very lathargic in his last few fights and i doubt it will go beyond 6

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
Barrera didn't look spectacular in his fight with Marquez because that's how good Marquez is. Marquez can change and adapt his plan and that's what he did against Barrera. Marquez figured out how Barrera was landing his counter and then he put a stop to it.

Re: Pacman: I can beat Soto, Barrera!
Wow! I must have been watching a completely different fight than some of you. The Barrera/Marquez match was the fight of the year for me. Two tremendously skilled fighters with great heart. They where both razor sharp in that fight...and as far as Barrera not looking pretty...he knocked Marquez down with a beautiful shot AFTER Marquez thought he had him finished....that's how much heart and skill Marco has. That fight was extremely close and in my mind controversial. Marquez's battered face at the end of the fight showed how tough a fight it was. And please...Barrera fought one of the best pure boxers in the sport and fought him damn well, while Pac has fought a bunch of stiffs (who by the way...he by no means "murdered") and a washed up Morales in his recent fights. All of this doesn't mean that i don't think Pac wouldn't beat Marco in a rematch...but a fighter of Barrera's skill, intelligence, and heart would be no walkover for Manny. And as i stated earlier...the Barrera rematch would generate the most interest and $$$ for Pac.
