As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Me and my wife were discussing PBF (she hates him !!) and she asked me a very good question. " What would you do ?? How would you beat him" I thought about it and i really didn't have a good answer. He has been presented with a lot of different situations and handled them all pretty well....He's fought bigger guys, tougher guys, faster (well some think so) guys, but i don't think he's faced anyone smarter than he is in the ring...with most of you having way more knowledge and experience in the sport than i do i figured some one here has got to have a answer !!!!

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Simple a baseball bat and some confetti try to take him out with bat if you cant catch him you could have more chance of hitting him with the confetti the guy is awesome no doubt in my mind about that.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
The ONLY thing I could think of is to try to get him to come forward. You can't really fight floyd when he's goin backwards because he's the master the defense. Also hope your fighter has a lightning quick jab and a noticable reach advantage. Not sure about any of that, but it's my best guess lol.
Be interesting to see who can crack the code of PBF.
The hardest thing about training against him is that he boxes like Bruce Lee did Jeet Kun Do always adapting to what you are doing and not instigating things.
That's why I think luring him into having to lead could screw with him.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
But Mayweather can fight going forwards backwards inside outside his defence is awesome i think this fighter could be unbeatable.

Gotta agree...everyone tries to mug PBF or pressure him, why not let Floyd come to you? He is a master counter puncher so make him initiate a bit, if he's forced to come in maybe you can catch him or a least take him away from what he's comfortable doing...

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
simple, look at JLC in there first fight thats how u beat him, as long as the judges dont rob u lol.

well, it worked well in the first fight, but look at the second fight. PBF figured out that style,
he just uses the jab and more lateral movement and voila your sucking wind and
getting tattooed with jabs all night long.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Still think hatton is the man to beat him, not saying he will but its the one style i can see which could frustrate the f**k out of Floyd

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
I most definitely feel that the key to unlock Mayweather's defensive shell is to step inside the distance faster than he can counter punch your way in and then put super-fast blurring combos with equal proportions of accuracy punching and power... If you start downstairs, you'll expose his upper-body and he won't have time to roll over his shoulders and make ya miss with the last punch out of the combination, a big blast to the head... Needless to say Suga Shane would have the experience and the technical/physical attributes to keep Floyd puzzled and inactive at times... Concerning Ricky, he has an advantage over Shane, he gets faster inside the distance with faster footwork, jumps in and tags with a volley sort of hook, what Hatton needs to develop fast is the way to keep his intensity going at very close quarters with the proper balance and head movement instead of fading fast and tyin up his opponent.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Wait. Wait till Mayweather gets older and hopes he loses a step. Cuz right now he's in his prime. And he ain't losing. No matter how much preparation one does.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
The way to beat Floyd, is to run from him all night long.
Fight just as cowardly as he does.
You will be even on the score cards thru the 11th.
Keep running thru the 12th and 30 seconds before the fight is over lunge at his azz with everything you got except low blows and then say you were the aggressor and steal the round.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
OK I'd prepare my fighter this way...if you're bigger that Floyd you muscle him up and you bully him, IMO Floyd won't take too kindly to being bullied....score with the jab is the key if you can't score with the jab you've already lost.
You have to pump the jab 3 full minutes of every round....make Floyd come to you he's not used to it...let him come to you and pop him with the jab.
When PBF comes in you're able to counter and Floyd throwing 1-2 shots at a time gives a fighter the oppertunity to flurry vs him providing you can find him.
If you're a power puncher like Miguel Cotto wind up and try to kill anything you hit arms, body, shoulders, anything you can hit you hit, it'll either tire him out or keep him from throwing in return because if he moves his guard to throw back he leaves himself open and what do you know the shot which would have once been brushed aside now lands flush and it's goodnight sweetheart.
Also before the fight, piss Floyd off...not like normal....piss him off, his family, etc...you can't hold prisoners, fights vs Floyd start before the weigh in and before the bell rings. And once in the ring question his manhood and demand that he stay in front of you....this either ensures he'll be foolish enough to stand and trade OR you look better than him as you press the action

How about just throwing away the rule book just short of DQ. Step on his toes, hit him with the sides of your glove and with the palm. Hit him in the kidney's. Hit him with the side of the glove on the bicep. Trash talk on the inside, call him a pussy, w/e.
Don't give him a wide target, and jump on him at every minute of every round.

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
be rough! push him into a corner and wear his rips out...liver punches in every clinch.and rip with upper cuts in the clinches...make it a ugly fight and get as close on the inside as you can.!

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
I guess if you really wanted to throw him off you could talk dirty to him.

Yeah and give his ass a squeeze while you're at it. Give that ciatic nerve a good pinch.

Was that the thing that Buddy Mcgirt was saying Gatti was going to hit? If not, does anyone remember that, and what it was called? That was pretty freakin' hilarious. ;D

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
hahahahahahahahaha
im crying with laughter :lolololol:
but trying to do it quietly because its really l8 at night
i would prepare for the fight for 6 mnths but ot tellhim
Then call him out and give him 2 weeks notice and say if he doesnt fight me he's a stinking pussy
i'd also pay off the ref and judges with my purse(it's not about the money i just wanna win)
and the iron gloves wont go a miss either :lickish: :lickish:
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
i was thinking about putting nail guns in the ends of my gloves
I think my fighter would have a chance then.
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
or put a pre_menopausal wife in there
running round the ring wont helphim then :lickish: ;D ;D ;D
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Id get my fighter to watch The Castillo fight , pressure pressure pressure (from what i remember , haven't watched it in a while)
Hatton is like a more mental super roided version of the Castillo that beat Mayweather , thats why i think he has a chance

Obviously McGirt was watching too much of "Million Dollar Baby."
Buddy McgGirt: "Forget everything that I taught you, just keep sticking him in the butt cheeks until he starts screaming your name!"
Arturo Gatti: "That's why I am thunder, he's going to feel it in the ass when I'm through with him..."
Buddy McGirt: "It'll be just like what that Maggie Fitzgerrald did to that hooker, right in the sciatic nerve."
Arturo Gatti: "Hey Buddy, didn't she break her neck in that movie?"
Buddy McGirt: "Don't worry Gatti, just protect yourself at all times and I keep the stool right in the corner just in case you fall."
During the fight Gatti's thinking "Protect Yourself at All Times", then Mayweather pushes him back with a forearm.
Arturo Gatti taking his eyes off Mayweather, "Did you see tha..."
Mayweather: "Biiiaaatch!"
Arturo Gatti's neck lands on the stool... True story. The Moral, Protect yourself at all times, and stick it to the man!

Funny you post that....I was just about to advise the same thing ;D
Though it's EXTREMELY illegal....hey some fighters you have to bend the rules a little bit to beat
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
If you're a southpaw named Zab Judah it's understandable that you may accidentaly step on someone's feet. ::**
Might accidentally make you sterile with some of those 'accidental' shots.

Just have to keep it on the DL when you're with Mr. Fat-but-Firm. ;)

Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
I just think a Roberto Duran attitude paired with Tommy Hearns power would un-do pretty much anyone mentally and physically.
But I think for Floyd, you have to beat him mentally before you beat him physically
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
I think a Julio Cezar Chavez on his best day could have been that combination that you're talking about. Power, body puncher, and mentally tough. Unremitting, undomitable... Yep I can see Floyd trembling to that.
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Chavez was very chill in the ring, he never lost control, never got worried about losing....he was like a 140 pound Rocky Marciano.
I am not sure Chavez had the intensity I would want for someone ot fight PBF ....BUT he was definantly good enough to give Floyd a very difficult fight.
Salvador Sanchez would have given Floyd all he could handle at 126 too...he was a tough SOB
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Definately Sanchez, he was a master at feinting. I can't say the the same about FLoyd's opponents. I think an Arguello had a lot of the stuff, may have given a run for the money, he was like a miniature Joe Louis.
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
Hagler
Hopkins
Wright
Hearns
Leonard
PRIME De la Hoya
PRIME Shane Mosely
Duran
Chavez
Sanchez
Willie Pep
Manny Pacquiao
All those guys would give Floyd a hard time
-
Re: As a trainer how would you prepare your man for pbf.....
I think if you added Ray Robinson, Charlie Burley, Kid Chocolate, they'd tear right through him. Back then Floyd's style wasn't unique.
