WOW !!! this is huge :o ;D
pretty surprised by this.
I'd like Barrera to win but I don't see any reason to think he'll win.
I don't see Barrera lasting very long. In his prime he could have given Pacquaio a run for his money judging on the first fight between Pacquaio and Morrales, but now I think Pacquaio ko's him every time.
:o
NO FWOCKEN WAY!!!! :o
I think I just shit my pants.... So where are all those anti-GBP people who kept talking shit! that GBP is the worst and that they don't care about the sport and blah! blah! blah!!
This is great so this means we could see JMM vs. PAC II early 2008 if they both win their next bouts....
Just don't like the style matchup, prepared or not prepared I don't think Barrera is the guy to beat Pacquiao and Barrera has been my favorite fighter at the lower weights for years now. Gets hit far to much, and I think the explosiveness of Pacquiao pretty much neutralizes any counter punching advantage Barrera might have.
Still, Barrera has pulled the rabbit out of the hat many times before so I'm still going to be cautiously optimistic about this from the Barrera standpoint.
I will politely disagree, Amat! ;)Quote:

This also makes the most sense for Manny on a $$$ and promotional standpoint...Barrera is the biggest name he could have fought...with Marquez (who already had signed to fight Barrios) coming second. A lot of people will be doubting Marco in this one....but he is one of those fighters i never discount. ALSO....i think talks of him being on the "slide" are greatly exaggerated. Sure...he is no young buck...but he still looked razor sharp in the Marquez fight...and even when he was badly hurt...he was able to land knockdown punch on Marquez. I for one...am excited about this fight.Quote:

Well not really beat him as the record shows.
Barrera's not stupid, to sum this stuff up. ;D Only Barrera's mileage will make it Pac's fight.
Glad MAB got this fight. I bet you he's been training for this fight since the last fight.
I know he's always had Pac on his mind.
I heard he was a little sad he couldn't get this fight to be one of his last.
Now he got his wish. "Be carefull what you...."

Now let's just hope this opens the door to other Top Rank and Golden Boy fighters go at it. Like Mosely against Cotto/Margarito
What happened to him fighting Soto in Vancouver? I almost fell out of my chair yesterday at work when I read he'd be fighting someplace I could actually drive to and watch live without breaking the bank.
I'm not naive to count Barrera out knowing that he too floored Marquez butt on the canvas.
This would be a good one.
Cc yo :)
Yo im telling you..This is just more fuel to the fire that is 2007 the comeback year of boxing 8)
Believe 8)
Topic Merged. 8)
Eff me this was nearly lost in amongst all the Hatton threads ;D
Pac by KO!!
Steelie your were there in Vegas, answer me one question.
What do you REALLY think of that guys scooter on the Hatton forum? ;D
He's a fan, what can I say...
Thank god this happened. Nothing against Soto or the Marquez fight obviously, but after MAB's career the least he deserves is this one last shot against the best. He's been saying that he's stayed away from Golden Boy and out of the limelight because he was disappointed after the Marquez fight. I'm pretty sure he was thinking these MOFO's (GBP) better get me the Pac fight after everything I've done in this sport. Good for him, now let's see how he does. ;)
Believe.. Barrera goes into this fight with more momentum then you thinkQuote:

Im talking pac- morales one.. But i believe barrera carries more power to these 'higher' divisions ..Compared to the roots of pac em and mab of course..
I love to see barrera fight these big fights at this age.. This is when he is most exiting imo
The juarez performances.. The second a clinc the first an entertaining close fight,
The third morales fight was clearly marcos but close in a way and bery entertaining
Marquez taken past the limits pac threw at him by barrera.. aside from the decision..Its close and al fair play but the score was bs and a mis justice.. But barrera still has it.. and i feel god about the fight..
He is my light Latino Bhop :)
This is gonna be a good one but I'm not really crazy about it though. This fight is more like financial thing for both fighters than pride.
What pisses me off is if Pac losses, then pac-haters will say... "Pac got his azz kicked by a washed up fighter". But if Pac wins... they'll say "Pac defeated a washed up fighter".
I'd rather watch Pac against Soto, Valero, Guzman.
so you totally forgot the fact that pac whopped mabs arse before?Quote:

I'm a little disappointed. Pacquiao-Barrera II will be a big event, but I think Pac-Soto would have been a much better fight.
I think Barrera gets knocked out again, probably faster this time.
A good fight but there's alot better ones out there for PAC. A very raw PAC steamrolled over a distracted MAB, this time even though MAB is focused he is no longer in his prime while PAC is at his best. It might end up looking like PAC-EM 2.
I havent forgotten anything. Yes, Pac stopped Barrera, but lightning seldom strikes in the same place twice. :)Quote:

Pac is coming off the political campaign fiasco, and MAB is coming off a loss which always seems to motivate him to fight on another level. PAC is definitely the favorite, but I wouldn't hesitate to take MAB as a very live dog.Quote:

A great champion like Marco...who has shown he is capable of coming back from tough defeats...should be given the benefit of the doubt about his performance in the first fight. Sure...he ain't young anymore...but he is one of those rare fighters that got better with age. He has learned to use his skill and mind as much as his all out brawl style. Not sure if he will have enough left in the tank to beat Pac...but he will give Manny a war. Manny has been fighting sub par competition his last few fights (including a completely done Morales in the third fight) and has looked far from spectacular. He also always seems to have a million distractions in his life...whether it's his management, political/film/music career, etc. He is a tremendous athlete who has improved somewhat skill wise...but he is still by no means a multi faceted fighter. So if he isn't completely focused and ready against an incredibly skilled and intelligent fighter like Barrera...he can lose. For those who would rather see Pac fight Soto...i think that's ridiculous. While Soto is an intriguing prospect with great power...he has fought no one of worth...and is still a bit one dimensional. Marquez and Guzman was not going to happen for obvious reasons...so we should be happy to see this rematch. I know Barrera will be the underdog...but i have enough faith in him to pull out one last great performance...win, lose, or draw.
Could you imagine if Barrera won this fight? I'd be absolutely overjoyed, he ain't the favourite and everyone is gonna write him off but the besr version of Barrera can win this fight if everything goes to plan. Does the best version of Barrera still exist? I doubt it, but I hope so.
Spot on as alwaysQuote:

Freddie has been saying this is an easy fight and subconcioulsy Pac will belive it as he has beaten him already so Pac isnt guna be 100% focused IMO . Barrera will be and Pac has never met a focused Barrera before. Its a totally different proposition, just as Juarez the difference between Barrera expected to win and a Barrera with it all to prove .
The boots on the other foot going into this rematch and Pac is in for a shock .

this is immense, i wanted this match the most for barrera. he deserved it
I think he carries more momentum going into this fight after a 'loss' then ever before..Quote:

If he does half as well as he did in the marquez fight then i thinnk this is a very close entertaining fight..
But at the same time has anyone considered this concept:
Not that barrera needs any more to his resume to show people of what a legend he is..
But if this fight ends up to be his own version of pac - morales 1..
Then perhaps there will even be a rubber match..
And aside from erik and few others i cant think of a fighter who was great enough and fought in a generation good enough to have given him so many memorable legendary fights against great oposition..
Marco already imo is one of the greatest of all time.. Some Huge wins at this stage of his career could put him at the top unquestionably
lil dissapointed to read this...
I love barrea, and while i don't think he is shot, he is close to being a shadow of what he was... he can still box on theoutside well, but in his last 3 fights has showed nod esire to take big hits and go to war.
All marco wants to do now is stay on the outside box and coast to a 12 DC... pac will press this fight from the openeing bell, i just don't think barrera has the desire to got to hell and back like the many times he done in the past.
I think Barrera puts on one last great performance beats Pac and retires
no way.Quote:
